Sounding like a broken record, but still loving this project!

Most of these photos on this page are from our last day in Maine - we got a lot in! And, of course, one tiny photo to commemorate receiving our Burning Man tickets in the mail :)

The summer is seriously whizzing by!

I've been keeping these pages super simple so I can get them done! Just random notes from stuff we did.

All the photos on this side are from our mini vacation up to Lake Livingston. I love that this event is all scrapped already!

Go U.S.A.!

top: Anthro / skirt: J.Crew / shoes: Jeffrey Campbell / sunnies: Gucci

This weekend was spent working, scrapping and watching the Olympics. Although I was not uber-impressed with Danny Boyle's opening ceremony, I did love seeing the athletes from all over the world (and from countries I didn't even know existed) entering the stadium. So far, my favorite event to watch is swimming. As much as I think Michael Phelps is an incredible athlete, Ryan Lochte deserves his time now.

on the mat | in favor of flats

top: Anthro / skirt: Old Navy / shoes: Tory Burch / earrings&cuff: gift'd {This pose reminds me of the darling Megan}
More often than not these days I have been wearing more flats than heels to work. Don't get me wrong - I still think heels make my legs look leaner and stronger and just flatter all around, but what I hate is that they tighten up the muscles in my legs.  90% of what I do or don't do lately is focused on how it will affect my yoga practice. And if wearing flats makes achieving my poses easier, than so be it.

Now I haven't gone as far as gotten rid of all the heels/platforms/wedges in my shoe wardrobe (that would be just crazy talk), but I am definitely wearing them fewer and farther in between. Sigh. Comfort before style - I am getting old!

I miss colder weather because flat tall boots are always stylish.

A bit restless

top: Anthro / skirt: J. Crew / shoes: Jeffrey Campbell / necklaces: Collingnon Designs / belt: Gap
For some reason our little vacation over the weekend has thrown off our schedule more than usual this week. Normally I have no trouble falling and staying asleep but we've just been restless the past few nights.

Good thing my closet is like Garanimals and everything can be mixed and matched for easy wardrobe remixing!

Pockets, please

dress: Banana / shoes: Old Navy / sunnies: Gucci
These days, when I am feeling lazy or uninspired, the quickest way for me to get dressed is wear a dress!

dress&belt: Anthro / shoes: Tory Burch / sunnies: Gucci / necklace: Loft
Apparently having pockets is also a requirement. Or an added bonus :)

project life | week 27

I created a new title page for the second 2012 album.

{July 1 - 7}

Still loving this project.

I especially love having a place to immediately put things like cards in, instead of throwing them in a drawer or envelope to "someday" put somewhere.

July will be a month mostly full of photos and words.

Photos from Joe's birthday.

Some of these photos from our trip to Maine are probably a bit redundant, if you also read this blog on a regular basis.

I like that with the weekly spreads I can include lots of photos from days we did lots of stuff!

weekend update | on the lake

We took a quick trip up to Lake Livingston with some friends over the weekend.

The drive up is actually fairly scenic for Texas.

We stayed at our friend EJ's lake house.

Being in the water is a great way to escape the summer heat.

week 29 09
Good food and good friends are always a great way to spend the weekend.

A storm blew through on Saturday night with 70mph winds. Unfortunately one of EJ's friends boats and jet skis got destroyed because of the storm. Fortunately he had insurance to cover it. Which makes me glad to know generous friends who own lake houses but not to own one myself - they are a lot of work!

cardi&dress: Loft / shoes: Geox / earrings: gift'd

On days I don't want to think about what to wear, my ever-growing collection of dresses comes in handy.  I've been pretty tired this week so comfort has been key as well.

I fell in love with this one a couple years ago and am happy to say I still love it.

Is anyone as happy as I am it's finally Friday?! I took the afternoon off for an extra-long, well-deserved weekend on the lake. Happy weekend to you!

adventure in color

2012 07 me 03
top&belt: Anthro / skirt: J.Crew / shoes: Seychelles / necklace: Collingnon Designs

Last night we saw "Shut up and play the hits," a documentary about LCD Soundsystem's last concert in Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately we never saw them live and now I kind of regret that. {BTW, the movie has nothing to do with this outfit, which was worn almost 2 weeks ago, except that both, to more are little adventures - doing something other than watching TV on a school night as well as paring turquoise with something other than black or brown).

I have been trying to be more adventurous with color lately - I love the color blocking from the last year. Two brights are always better than one!

good friends

Last night we had dinner with my dear friend V. Nothing beats catching up over wine and pizza! He lives in Austin and we don't see him nearly enough.

We have known each other since the 8th grade, which seems like such a long time ago. Although we have made many good friends in the last decade here in Houston, there's something to be said about having friends who knew you way back when.

project life | week 26

{June 24-30}
Untitledfull spread
Over halfway into this project now and I am still loving it.

Untitledleft side
Still keeping these weeks pretty simple by using lots of digital products. Seeing these photos make me miss my nephews who are on the east coast for the month of July, visiting their other side of the family. I guess I can share them for 1 month out of the year!

Untitledright side
I am happy have a mix of "real camera" photos as well as iPhone photos to tell our stories.

Untitledend page
And we come to the end of volume one 2012, halfway through the year!

Untitled2012 volume 1
I REALLY am trying to keep my PL albums to only 2/year. Even at this rate, if I keep at it I will be drowning in a sea of scrapbooks by the time I am...lots older than I am now. Not worrying about it too much currently - that's future EE's problem ;)

Traveling in comfort

07.06.12dress: Old Navy / cardi: Anthro / shoes: Sam Edelman / earring: gift'd

I wore this outfit no less than 3 times on our vacation: the day we left, to see Legally Blonde the play and the day we returned. It is comfy enough to sit for hours on end on the airplane but chic enough to go directly from the plane to wherever we needed to go. I am not a fan of wearing track suits a la Juicy Couture on the plane.

What do you wear to be comfortable when traveling?

on the...hay bale?

2012 07 yoga 01This may sound silly but the one thing I really don't like about vacationing is how it messes up my practice schedule. Daily practice can be tiring and repetitive, but is especially rewarding when noticeable changes occur in how deep a pose can be attained.

2012 07 yoga 02We were able to practice last Sunday with Jennifer, who was a fabulous teacher

2012 07 yoga 03We also had fun taking these photos, inspired by my dear friend, Jill. We haven't seen each other since India, but keep in touch via FB, blogs and IG. Besides practicing in the shala, I really miss the ashtanga community in Mysore, but am slowly building one here.

Have a great weekend!

weekend casual

top: Patrick Robinson for Target / jeans: Gap / shoes: Converse / necklace&bracelets: gift'd / turquoise bracelet: Chan Luu / bag: Gucci

Returning back to my normal schedule after a vacation always takes a few days. Because I have so much I should do, I end up not doing anything and watching Master Chef on the DVR instead. Yes, I am the world's worst procrastinator.

dress: Anthro / shoes: B. Makowsky / bangles: India / wrist chain: Calypso for Target / bag: Gucci

These outfits, for example, are from 2 weekends ago at the end of June. The first was worn on our bowling night and the 2nd on a movie date night with the hubs. Is it wrong to wish the weekend were already here instead of a work week that's just begun?
