Houston Fashion Week

2011 10 us 01
Last night the hubs and I went to the first show of Houston Fashion week with a couple friends. This was the same event we attended last year. The collections we saw this year were much less inspiring and for some reasons I just couldn't get any good pictures so I gave up.

dress: Banana
shoes: Tory Burch
necklace, bangles: various, gift'd

I did wear what I think are some fabulous shoes.

A little fashion show

I wish I lived in NYC so I could have participated in Fashion Night Out, but I did go to a little fashion show on Wednesday night.

The show was held at Tootsies, a high-end boutique here in Houston.

Fashion Houston 2010 {Warning: Photo heavy!}

H-town hosted its first Fashion Week this year. One of our good friends R helped put it together so we were able to score some tickets and enjoy the show. It started yesterday and goes through Thursday; the hubs and I decided to see the inaugural show.

Houston Fashion Week
It took place at the Wortham Center. We thought this tent was where the actual show would be but it turned out to be where the sponsors had tables.

R found us and took us to one of the VIP rooms upstairs.

The set up

Houston Fashion Week
The first designer's line we saw was Cesar Galindo.

He designed some beautiful dresses.

Unfortunately our 6th row seats didn't make for the best photos.

M gave me his front row seat for the next show, Lyn Devon. Where I got some much better snaps!

Houston Fashion Week
She designed some cute ready-to-wear looks.

We just couldn't get over the shoes.

The reason I wanted to come to the show on Monday.

A good way to start the day

On mornings where I am feeling lazy and unmotivated to work out (for example today, after hosting an impromptu Oscars viewing party) I am usually checking out the many different fashion blogs on my list. Imagine my surprise when Sal of Already Pretty featured one of my photos in her post! Her blog not only features her unique style but also her point-of-view of what defines beauty and how we can change that definition. I read her blog every day! So go and check it out!

Leanne!

She won Project Runway last year and is releasing a line on Bluefly next week!I love that skirt, even though it's not as fabulous as these:But $150 is better than $700-$1300 so I'll take it!

Lusting

I am doing my best not to buy any more clothes - my closet is full to the brim and I've just got too much random stuff. But I have been eyeing these fabulous booties from Tory Burch:I think they look so cute with a dress:...and they would look equally cute with a pair of jeans. But are they worth the $450 price tag??

What goes around comes around

I love this outfit that Jessica Simpson is wearing, but at the same time it cracks me up as well. Oversized sweaters and tight jeans - that's what I was wearing in college! I really feel old when fashion has already started to recycle. I mean, you're not supposed to wear something you have worn before, right?

I need to get back into my photo a day. I have been taking them but not as many as I should.

Back to the grind today....

Fun stuff

Your Fashion Style is Classic
You like what's stood the test of time...Simple, well styled clothes that don't scream trendy
You stay updated and modern, but your clothes stay in style for a while
You wouldn't be caught in animal prints, fake fur, or super bright colors
