February is over!

So my goal for March is going to be to take at least 5-10 pictures every day and blog every day. I want to make an everyday life scrapbook and March should be pretty uneventful - the only trip would be Joe going to Miami for WMC. Hopefully I will be getting my Big Picture Scrapbooking book soon; from where this idea comes.

We are hoping to see Madonna in Miami over July4th weekend. THAT would be awesome!

This week has not been feeling as tiring as last week. I ran 4 miles this morning before work and went to yoga this evening. Now I am starting to get tired.

Good night!

VH1

I am watching the all-request classic videos. They are playing some cool songs I haven't heard in forever - like "I Go Crazy," by Flesh for Lulu and "Affair of the Heart" by Rick Springfield. Hee hee - I could watch this all night!

Early morning

It's always easier to get up in the morning when I know I don't have to work!! Joe and I were up around 4 - a combination of being too full from Lupe's fajitas and a little tipsy from the margaritas caused us to go to sleep fairly early. I hate sleeping on such a full stomach - I remember having vivid weird dreams, but I can't remember exactly what they were.

Nancy, Joe's aunt, is visiting this weekend. We are going to James and Val's place this afternoon for Lori's bday party. She is having it at build-a-bear at the Baybrook Mall. That's where our old Some friend Jonathan, who is also a hairdresser, supposedly has his own Toni and Guy. We'll have to check it out!

My goal for next month is to take lots of pictures every day and make a month in the life kind of scrapbook. Inspired by Stacy Julian. Thinking of her, where is my book????

I think I will tidy up a bit more and try to get some pics organized for my 2005 year in review layout. Laters!

big!

That is one big picture! I was just at photobucket.com, playing around. I would like to make a cool banner but I think it will be more effort than I am willing to put in, so I'll make do with what I have now!

this is just a test

New discovery

I am making a photo book on photoworks.com. It's pretty cool. Doesn't take quite as much time as making a scrapbook but isn't totally quick either.

First elimination round on AI tonight. No one I liked is gone, so I'm ok. Ace Ace all the way!

Mini-swat

I worked out with Beth and Greg Apke, a couple from the Met, this morning. We did a pseudo-SWAT workout along the bayou. I miss having SWAT on tues/thurs, especially now since 1 - I am no longer training for the marathon and 2 - I lost my running buddy! Nothing bonds people more than having to get up at the crack of dawn and working out! That's what really got Cindy and I to be closer friends. We would run and just talk about anything and everything. Man, I miss her already!

Work was rather stressful yesterday and I didn't get out until late so I didn't go to yoga. I did make some rice and veggies to go with the chicken Joe made so the night wasn't a total loss. And Idol! was on, which made my night. I don't know why I love that show so much. I definitely enjoyed the guys' performances much better than the girls. The girls did way too many slow ballads. My favorite is still Ace. He is hot and can sing!

Joe's aunt Nancy is coming to visit this weekend. Since we haven't seen her in over a year it will be a good time, but I feel bad because we still have no furniture! Hopefully it will be here within the next month....

I hate goodbyes

This is my friend Cindy. She, Marc, Darryl, Heather, Joe and I just had breakfast at Baby Barnaby's as a last farewell as she and Marc drive out to LA. She got a "new" job out there with the old Clear Channel, doing much of the same things she was doing here in H-town. We really just became good friends over the past 1.5 years, but I will really miss her! At least LA is a fairly easy plane flight. Sigh.

More Vegas pics

Home again

We just got back from Las Vegas yesterday morning. Talk about an exhausting weekend! On Friday, our flight was supposed to leave at 6pm and we would get there at 7:30. Well, we didn't leave until after 7 and didn't get to our hotel until 9:30. We were seeing Ka at the MGM grand at 10:30 so we dropped off our bags, and immediately went to the show. Our aunt, visiting from Japan, didn't want to see it so she gambled while we watched the show. The stage and set were amazing but the story and acrobatics were only fair. I think I've seen too many Cirque shows so nothing is very new anymore. If this had been my first one, I think I would have been blown away, mostly because of the elaborate set. After the show we were hungry so we ate at a restaurant at the MGM (our aunt had lost enough $$ to warrant some comp meals!!). Poor dad's flight was even more delayed than ours. We got back to the Aladdin after 1 am and dad was already playing the slots!

Joe woke up early Sat morning to run. When he returned the 4 of us went to breakfast at the cafe downstairs. We gambled for a couple hours. My aunt left for the airport in the early afternoon so we shopped at Caesar's before heading back for some rest. I bought a cute pink (of course) velvet blazer from Armani Exchange. It was only $60! The only time all 6 of us were really together was for dinner on Sat night at a Wolfgang Puck Chinese themed restaurant. The meal was reminiscent of our China trip! Mom, Ting and I gambled until we lost most of our money and then called it a night.

Joe's early morning workout was a 3 hour bike ride at their crappy $25 gym. Oops I lied - we all had breakfast/brunch at the buffet before mom left for the airport. Since the hotel was sold out we couldn't get a late check out, so had to be out of the room by 11AM. Then we took our bags to the valet to store and Ting and John got their boarding passes printed out. While we were waiting, Mom called and it turned out that her flight was supposed to be midnight on Saturday!! Luckily she was able to get on a 2pm flight. Only mom would be so absent minded! We left dad to gamble his slots and did a little more shopping. Joe got a shirt from FCUK and a pair of shoes that he's been wanting from Steve Madden.

We gambled a bit more, but were losing too quickly so we stopped and spent the rest of the afternoon walking along the strip. I took lots of fun pics, but as usual I still feel like I should have taken more!

Joe and I left Ting and John :( around 6:30 so we could catch Zumanity at 7:30. The show was pretty good, but I don't ever want to see any more hanging rope tricks! We took a cab to the Wynn to get a free buffet (courtesy of our aunt). They had king crab legs and shrimp that was good but overall I didn't think the buffet was all that. After eating we trekked back to the Aladdin and caught a cab to the airport.

The one good thing about the red-eye is that Joe usually gets upgraded to first class. So I slept all the way home in relative comfort. All in all it was a great trip to spend time with the fam.

Epiphany

The last time Luis P (Tova's) colored my hair, I didn't get it cut. He did blow it dry afterwards and, with no seeming effort at all, my hair and it's new color looked fabulous. As I was resigning myself to the fact that my hair would only look good after I went to my stylists, Luis let me in on a secret. "It's in the hair dryer," he confidently told me. "Really?!?!" I didn't quite believe him.

But I did need a new one and put it on my wish list for Christmas. Santa, a.k.a. Joe my main squeeze, always gives me what I want and I had my new Elchim hair dryer for the new year. At first I didn't think it was all that. My hair was definitely drying faster, but otherwise, did not notice too much difference.

Well, these past couple weeks I have actually been showering and getting ready for work at the gym (I had been slacking on my morning workouts for a bit). I brought my old dryer to the gym because the gym ones REALLY stink. And I discovered that my old faithful, like the gym dryers, really sucked!! I couldn't dry my hair at all!! The new one was actually doing a fantastic job and I didn't even realize it!

So the moral of the story is: Always listen to your colorist. They know.

Long day

Boot camp kicked my butt this morning so I skipped yoga this evening. Just wasn't feelin' it. I actually have enjoyed relaxing at home - cleaning up a bit and watching Idol of course! It's funny how I like to clean the house before Julia, our housekeeper, comes over!

Our DDR went out, which distresses me to no end. I have to watch live TV?!?!?! That stinks!

Today was stressful at work - I was just tired all day! But it's over and we're a day closer to Vegas, Baby! One last note - Joe got me the cutest Tiffany's heart bracelet for V-day. Love my boy!

Idol!

That show makes me happy. I don't know why I'm such a dork for it. Maybe the thought of a person being able to make their biggest dream come true.

Happy Valentine's Day! Joe and I went to Vietopia for lunch, since he has class and had to ride his bike tonight. I got him lots of yummy facial stuff from Kiehl's, as well as his requisite V-day boxers from Gap. Wonder what cupid has is store for me tonight ;)!!

Toodles!

Monday blues

It's been a long and tiring day. The morning was fairly slow but of course everyone shows up in the afternoon, which makes the day go by fast, but keeps me fairly stressed as well.

We did have Niko Niko's for dinner - love those gyros!

I may have to hit the hay here soon....

Fun stuff

Your Fashion Style is Classic
You like what's stood the test of time...Simple, well styled clothes that don't scream trendy
You stay updated and modern, but your clothes stay in style for a while
You wouldn't be caught in animal prints, fake fur, or super bright colors

The weekend

...isn't as fun when you have to work both days! Oh well, such is life. That's not a bad trade-off for having a three day weekend every other week.

I've got some many ideas of things I want/need to scrap. I'm just having a hard time implementing. I think a lot stems from the fact that most of my pictures are digital now, so I have difficulty envisioning what I want to scrap. I know now that I don't have to scrap every single picture, but we DO so many things, it's hard to know where to begin! So I keep organizing and re-organizing my stuff...I guess that's a start!

I know I want to make 2 gift albums - one for Cindy and one for Alan. I'm bummed that my Snapfish pictures aren't here yet!! Hopefully I'll get them by Tuesday.

That's all for now. Heigh ho, Heigh ho, It's off to work I go!

Madge

She's so awesome! What an inspiration!

Books

I got some books I ordered from Amazon last night. Love clean crisp sheets of paper in a new book! I started reading Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life. It's pretty amusing but a little different than I expected. I don't know why, but I thought it was an ordinary memoir, but she's actually got things alphabetized, like an encyclopedia. Go figure!

I also got a fertility book, recommended by my friend Claire (guess it's time to TAKE CHARGE!).

The last 2 books are photography books - Understanding Exposure and Learning to See Creatively, both by Bryan Peterson. Almost all these books were found via message boards. What did we do before the internet???

I've been more interested in reading non-fiction lately. Just got lots of ideas in my head, I guess!

Figured it out

I finally discovered how to post a picture to my profile. It took way longer than it should! Now if I can only figure out how to make a banner...

Finally got some up!

Home again

Our ski trip was a blast!! I wish we could go more often! I have been trying to upload some pictures, but it's not working, so I'll try again later.

We flew to Denver on Wednesday morning, and after some drama with the rental cars, made our way to Beaver Creek by about 1 pm. Our lodge was amazing. We each had our own room and bathroom and there was a lot of living space to hang out in.

That afternoon we went grocery shopping and got settled. Peg cooked every meal which was great.

We skiied 3 days. I usually spent half the day with Ken and Peg and the other half with Joe. I like to go a bit faster than our friends but not as fast as Joe and Joey. We had fabulous weather - Friday morning was the coldest. Snow came down every night as well, so the skiing was just great. Couldn't ask for better weather or company!
