A whole lotta nothin'

This weekend was spent with yoga, scrapbookin', eatin' and chillin'. Gotta love that!

Saturday I went to yoga, met Peg for lunch at Empire and then scrapped to my heart's content in the afternoon. Oh, and I wore my favorite bermuda shorts too!Joe had a mega workout and was gone pretty much all day. After he came home we grabbed a little TCBY before heading OTL (gasp!) to check out Saks Off Fifth. I found a black Calvin Klein sheath dress for only $40! It has a classic shape and fit really well so I figured it will come in handy one day!

After shopping we checked out a Korean BBQ place in Bellaire, that ended up being in the same strip mall as one of the restaurants we went to when the 'rents were in town. Our entrees came with multiple little appetizersJoe was really hungry and happy to see the foodOur main dishes were Korean BBQ with tofu soup and a seafood pancake thing. We were given a raw egg to crack into the soup and cook.We were pretty hungry! But Joe still had room for a little more dessert.Today has been pretty chill. I ran 4 miles to Joe's 12 and got to see a cool morning sky.We practiced yoga as usual (I am on a roll! I have been 6 times in the last 8 days! Really loving it right now!).

This afternoon we hung out, ate some more fro-yo before going grocery shopping. I think we will be making fish tacos tonight...yummy!

Happy

Ok, this is probably the funnest entrance to a wedding ever. Actually brought a little tear to my eye to imagine how cool the couple must be!

8 hours to go...

until a 3 day weekend! Woo hoo! I don't know why having Saturday off feels so much better than just Sunday and Monday but it just does. Conditioning I guess!

I suppose I should stop procrastinating and finish getting ready for work - boo!

Call me sassy

I got my haircut! And not a trim, a much shorter and sassier do! Sometimes I forget how much I love short hair until I get inspired by something, usually a photo in a magazine. And snip snip snip. I love that David can pretty much do anything to my hair and make it look great!

In other news, yesterday Yannis pushed me to drop back into backbend from standing without any help! Granted, the first time I didn't listen to what he said to do and hit my head on my mat, but I did it at least 2 more times! I am so excited about it. Now I am not sure if it's related, but the sassy short hair cut may have been my motivation ;)

Not much difference

I don't wear a ton of makeup, but I like to give myself a little bit of color because sometimes I feel like I look too pale. So I decided to conduct an experiment this morning (and I had some extra time on my hands!). Does the everyday makeup I wear make me look that much different (I definitely wear more when I go out)?

Here I am au natural:And here I am with some concealer, mascara, blush and a lad of lipstick:Can you tell the difference?

photo shoot

Taking photos can be harder than it looks! My dear friend M is starting his own law firm with a friend of his and asked me to snap some photos of them for their website. 1 hour and 200+ photos later and probably less than 20 are really good. It's good practice for me...I don't know if I could really go into professional photography...a lot of pressure to perform! I do much better with just regular snapshots!{My favorite of the bunch}

Some rest for the weary

Working two Saturdays in a row is absolutely no fun. At least I can take some consolation in having tomorrow off, as well as the next three weekends (in fact that's like 3 3-day weekends in a row!)!

Last night the girls went out to dinner at Ibiza to celebrate T-bone's belated birthday. And while the food is delish, the atmosphere can sometimes be a little more than desired (especially the acoustics...it is so LOUD inside the restaurant). But we did have a good time.Their birthday special is cotton candy...I don't think I've ever had this much! After dinner we hung out at their lounge and attempted some self-portraits:They didn't turn out so well so we had someone take this for us:Since we weren't quite ready to go home, Peg and I met the boys at Numbers for a Michael Jackson tributeAll the festivities left me a wee tired this morning, but I did make it to yoga, which helped me feel better.

This afternoon we spent making fun Thank You cards with my crafty sister. Unfortunately my batteries were being recharged so I didn't take any photos. Next on the list...maybe a nap before bedtime?

For the love of the run

This morning I just couldn't bring myself to drive to Memorial and run another loop. So I decided to wait until the sun was almost up and run from home. And I'm glad I did. I just ran until I didn't feel like running anymore, at whatever pace I was feeling, and actually enjoyed it, humidity and all. I guess the concern of keeping a certain time or distance can take the fun out of running. I forgot I like to run after all!And it's kind of cool to see the city in the early morning light.

Fashionista

So my Bluefly purchases arrived in the mail today. I bought a Leann top and skirt. And while I love the flippy skirt, it was a little big and I don't think I will exchange it for the next size down...just think it may be a bit youngish or tarty, espcially if I wear it will high heels. But the flowy top is gorgeous and youthful as well without being cutsy and is a keeper. It's too dark to take photos now, but I will probably wear it to dinner with the girls tomorrow night and will post then!

For now it's more Tour with Lance and Joe!

Now and then

Seeing my bffs made me sentimental and remember...I can't believe I have known these guys for over 20 years! (Probably closer to 25 years!!). Everyone needs friends like them...someone who knows you, even if you haven't spoken in weeks or months. Some things that may have changed: hairstyles (or lack thereof!), a few pounds here or there, a few lines here or there, but overall, we still look pretty good, if I do say so myself! (I flipped the old photo so we would be in the same order for comparisons sake).

A little break

The office has been very slow the past few months, with the economy and summer and all. Not good for bonuses, but good for more time off! Today I was able to sneak home and enjoy my lunch here. Sometimes it's nice just to get away.

In other, more important news, I am going to be shopping for all things blue the next few months...can't wait!

Cat sitting

Our friend Greg is out of town this week so we are keeping an eye on JR for him. JR is actually pretty friendly for a cat!

Too much stuff to do, too little time

I have many scrapbook/photo projects swirling in my head that I would like to do. So many trips to make minis, so many daily photos...what to do with all of them? I did learn how to make a photo grid in Photoshop today courtesy of Cathy Zielske via Ali Edwards' blog. Now if I could only figure out how to make a link...

A little shop shop today

with my bff (and my new HollywoodIntuition shades)!

We hit the standard stores and got some good deals! Alas, didn't take any photos along the way...next time! My favorite purchase of the day was a long hot pink skirt from my old standby, The Gap.

Next up, some yummy Mexican food to celebrate Joe's li'l bros bday!

Getting back into the swing of things

With Joe's birthday last week as well as the holiday weekend, I fell of the working out/eating healthy bandwagon. Bodies in motion tend to stay in motion, bodies at rest, just like to veg! So this week I have been getting back into my workout mode. I have done cardio 3X already (Mon, Tues and today), ran 1X (Wed) and practiced yoga 1X (Wed). I am sore from yoga yesterday and did an extra long workout today so will be good and sore tomorrow. Kinda like that feeling!

We have also been lucky in getting many shipments of these all the way from Phoenix, AZ, courtesy of Aunt Nancy:I use them to make yummy smoothies:This has felt like an extra long week - because last week was so short and this week I will be working all weekend - boo! At least I have craft Sunday afternoon to look forward to ;)!

It rained this morning!

...just enough to make it hot and steamy this afternoon. Aaaah, you gotta love summer in good ole H-town. {I wish I could take better photos of rain droplets...I think I need to slow down the shutter speed...}

Unmotivated

I am just so happy that we are still such great friends, even if we don't see each other as much as we would like.

It will all work out

Whenever we come up to Mom and Dad's, I always manage to find a little time to go through old photos and journals and reminisce. It's so funny to see what things I was so concerned about during certain time periods of my life...mostly boys, of course! While I wouldn't change a thing, I would like to tell my younger self to just lighten up, enjoy the moment and don't worry about everything so much. It will all work out in the end. I have found this philosophy to be true for the last 10+ years.

Waaah!

I don't want the weekend to end! We had such a fabulous time with our besties. I wish they didn't live on opposite coasts! At least it gives us an excuse to go either direction, I guess!

Today we made our way out to Weatherford and saw Shay's parents as well as the pizza place we used to go to. The pizza was actually better than I remembered, especially with the creamy Italien dipping sauce! We didn't do much...lots of eating, talking, reminiscing and photo taking. Those will be posted soon.

Tomorrow is back to the real world...at least I don't have to work! Just get back into the routine...

Too hot for fireworks

We had a fantastic day on the lake with everyone...my camera is downstairs so I will post photos later. Only one casualty: my cell phone! Do not ask me why I even had it with me on the boat, but it got dropped into the lake. I have already obtained a new one that has a typepad for easier texting and web capabilities. So Twitter may be in my near future.

We were planning on watching fireworks with Billy and his family but decided it was too hot to be outside. So Joe had finally passed out from heat exhaustion and I am quietly watching multiple firework displays from the back window. They are quite far away but it's actually quite cool that they can be seen above the lake!

I think I am calling it an early night as well so Happy Birthday America!

Happy Friday!

I wish all work weeks were just 3 days long! That would be ideal...
We drove up to Arlington in the wee hours of the morning, mostly because we were too tired last night and also to miss the going-out-of-town traffic.

On our way up we stopped at the funnest gas station:Joe met a bear as well as Buc-ee!I decided it was too hot to run this morning, but Joe is running to his heart's content. The rest of the afternoon will be spent getting ready for the boat tomorrow. And then we will be meeting Shay and V for dinner tonight...can't wait!

Leanne!

She won Project Runway last year and is releasing a line on Bluefly next week!I love that skirt, even though it's not as fabulous as these:But $150 is better than $700-$1300 so I'll take it!

Please step away from the toaster oven!

Having some food issues this morning. First, as I go to sprinkle some cinnamon on my oatmeal, I open the wrong side of the container and end up dumping out half of its contents before I realized what happened. I love cinnamon, but too much just is not good. So I have to make another bowl of oatmeal (sans cinnamon this time!). Then, I decide I want some toast so I put a couple slices in the toaster. After the timer goes off, this is what I was left with:I am the worst cook ever! I ended up eating some untoasted bread instead. I think I am going to be eating out for lunch!
