TGIF!
I am wearing a simple outfit today because of the dreary weather. And it's Friday, which typically means being busier at work so I want to be comfy. I love this necklace - I bought it years ago from a friend of a friend who made it by hand.
We are going on a quick road trip over the weekend to Lake Livingston, where a friend has a house. I am hoping the weather with clear up by tomorrow! And on Sunday, Cynthia Vincent hits Target! Be back later :)

My argument for shopping
On why fashion isn't frivolous: If you feel good in your clothes, you feel better about yourself. For me, feeling better about myself puts me in a better mood. Outwardly, that is reflected by smiling more and being a better person in general. And I know I always want to be the best I can be. So bring on the sales!

I am feeling especially fabulous and fierce today (two overused words referring to fashion-y stuff, but I still love them!). Good hair days always rule. I finally got a pair of slim black pants and I love the proportions of this pair from the Gap. Overcast cloudy days rule for taking better remix photos!

I love the ruffle-y goodness of this top from Ann Taylor, which is why I bought it in 2 colors!

And it's just cool enough for me to wear this trench I got from F21 in NYC last fall. I think it's going to be a good day!

This last photo is a gratuitous shot of my dear nephew, who has discovered his hands. Apparently they taste yummy. He is getting cuter by the minute!

LBD
I bought this dress at Saks Off Fifth awhile back. It is Calvin Klein, fits perfectly (well except the belt which works better at my hips than at my waist) and was only $40. I didn't know when or where I would wear it at the time, but now that I am wearing work clothes to work, I should be able to get my money's worth out of it!
I am wearing another pair of Hue Microfishnets. I adore these - they are sheer enough to wear for warm weather but give me enough coverage for work! I bought them in both nude and black and have a feeling I will be wearing them quite a bit this spring and summer. Thanks again Sal!

Playing with the light
I had a little time this morning so I was playing with different places in which to take remix photos.

By 8:45 AM my usual spot was a little dark.
So I switched positions but I hate having the tenant's truck in the background.
My last spot was on our front porch, which is my favorite as long as no people are walking by! It's funny how moving positions just a few feet can change the quality the light in a photo!
This top is quickly beoming a favorite. I love that it is polished yet still feminine - in my opinion a great take on the classic white shirt! And you can't tell, but I am wearing tights - Hue Microfishnets, which I already love, from this advice of Sal :)

1000!
Who knew I could babble on for so long :)!

Today the hubs and I decided to check out Galveston - it's only and how away and we wanted to eat lunch and hang out by the water. So we packed our lunch and drove down there after yoga. Unfortunately the wind was whipping around so heavily that we only stayed for an hour and a half before calling it quits.

I love this shot of the hubs.

I also found a bright pink sun hat at a surf shop so the trip wasn't a total loss!

Afternoon disco beat
The DJ thing at Discovery Green yesterday afternoon was pretty cool. We met up with some friends, listened to some music and chilled. Not a bad way to enjoy the rest of the day!
My cutest boy ever.
But these guys aren't too bad either!
Us (I just changed my pants and shoes and lost the belt after work. Again, love clothes that work double time!)
The scene
The sky
Today we are just taking it easy. Practiced yoga this morning and went to the g-store. The hubs is out running while I am uploading photos, catching up on blogs and generally just playing around.
This is my 999th post! Who knew I could ramble so much!

Another working weekend...
They come all too quick! I think today is going to be a beautiful day as well...we will see if the patients actually show up!

Today's outfit is a bit on the casual side, but I figure for Saturday I don't really need to be that formal. I am glad I am able to incorporate my "fun" wardrobe into my "work" wardrobe. I prefer to wear work clothes that reflect my personal style rather than what traditional work clothes may be defined to be.
I think the hubs and I will be heading out to Discovery Green after work today - they have a DJ playing there who used to play at Body & Soul, this cool venue in NYC that we love. And it's free! I like to have something to look forward to when I have to work on Saturday.

Having technical difficulties
What I miss about my missing point-and-shoot camera is the ease to which I could take remix photos in the morning. With my SLR, setting up the tripod and focus can be a pain. I haven't been using it myself for a bit now so I was having trouble getting a clear shot so this is the best of the bunch.

The jacket actually goes with the pants I wore yesteday, but I didn't feel like wearing a suit. I'm glad I could find ways to wear each piece separately. And the peeptoes are a bargain I bought at the Talbot's outlet about 2 months ago - $13! I even got them in pink!

Playing hookey
I had jury duty today so had a day off from work! I didn't have to appear in court until noon thirty so Joe and I ran as well as practiced yoga this morning. We even ate our lunch outside at a little neighborhood park nearby.
Basically I sat in the court house with a bunch of other people for about 2.5 hours before we were dismissed and paid $6. Woo hoo! So Joe and I decided to go check out the Menil this afternoon.
I can't believe how warm it is getting already. Yesterday I was sweating at work in my sweater and tights...I am a bit sad to be shedding all my layers!

The Menil is a cool free museum probably about 1 mile away from our house. We like to go 1-2x a year because they always have some new exhibits up and it's free!

The hubs is looking sharp in his Prada shades!

Color me annoyed
I am unable to locate my Canon point-and-shoot camera. I am hoping it will turn up as we clean up the house but I am afraid it may have been stolen out of my car (which was unlocked this morning). I am keeping my fingers crossed that Joe may find it in the madness of our house, but am really annoyed right now.

I like taking remix photos with my SLR, but the PaS is sometimes so much more convenient! Boo!

It's been a great Monday
The humidity today was not nearly as brutal as yesterday so the hubs and I took a couple walks.

It feels like summer is already here - no more layers for me!

Our first walk was this morning to Inversion Coffee house to check out their giant mushrooms!

We also found a Pac-Man ghost along the sidewalk.
And early this evening we walked to Empire Cafe to eat dinner and enjoy half price cake day. They have been doing it for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately the peanut butter chocolate cake was so good I forgot to snap a photo!
Today also marks the 10th anniversary of Joe moving down here from Arlington. We took a big leap that day and fortunately things have been working out!

Happy Easter!
We spent the better part of today with our friends for brunch and later Bunnies on the Bayou, an AIDS fundraiser. It was unbelievable hot and humid today but we can sacrifice for a good cause!
I thought my dress would be cool enough, but since it actually has a slip inside, the two layers definitely had me sweating!
I love the hubs in pink!
Unfortunately I didn't get any real group shots this time around, but I do love this photo of me and my favorite bunny!
Some snaps
My friend, let's call him GG, has the coolest Hermes hippo. It was the only one they didn't sell, because in his words, an old rich man is not going to buy is trophy wife/gf/mistress a hippo charm!
We went to dinner on Friday night with K, P, C & C. The Cs were visiting from San Antonio. We feasted on lots of good food and wine at Benjy's on Washington.
I caught the hubs mid-sentence. His expression is priceless!
And what I wore out last night. The whole reason I bought a pair of ankle cowboy boots was because of the fall Shopbop lookbook.
This is the look I based my outfit on!

It's been a long day...
but at least Saturday and a work-free weekend is around the corner!
I cannot express how much I adore these pink pants. I think I bought them over 5 years ago and they still fit like a dream and make me feel fabulous (yay me!).
Tonight after yoga we are having dinner with some friends (one couple from San Antonio, C&C, whom I haven't seen since working there in the fall) and we are having Easter brunch at a friend's place on Sunday. Nothing better than good food and good friends!

Skirt quandry
I like wearing skirts and want to wear more to work, but I am not sure about the whole bare-legged thing.

In theory it should be fine but today I was having difficulty moving around and seeing patients without totally flashing them! The problem is that tights are too dark and opaque...I guess I need to try something more sheer. Any suggestions would be welcome!
