I am a little late starting this challenge, but I figure better late than never! My motivation for doing this is to show myself that I don't need a million things in my wardrobe to survive. I don't NEED "those sandals" or "that dress" to be happy. I should be able to make do with what I have. I think by limiting my wardrobe choices over the next month I will actually be wanting to wear other things in my closet and not just coveting the next new thing.
My rules:
1) 30 pieces of clothing for the next 30 days.
2) No shopping except when we go to Freeport, ME next week (or if the sandals I have been eyeing at Anthro happen to go on sale!)
3) Because we are traveling to a different climate, I will make an exception in my 30items for a couple of cooler weather clothes (i.e. jackets/sweaters) that I won't be wearing anytime in the August humidity of Houston!
4) Obviously work out clothes are excluded.
5) Pool clothes are excluded as well (got a couple pool parties coming up!)
6) I have unlimited access to the eek! accessories wall :)

whew! I didn't include any new purchases from NY because I wanted to stick with basics to see how I could vary them up with accessories. I have also worn everything in the mix at least once, except the khaki bermudas, which I bought at the end of last summer. I wanted to be able to use all these clothes interchangably between work and play, so we'll see how it goes! Outfit posts to come later!

I bought some new sandals. Gaby Sandal in bronze by B. Makowsky 
They are the bronze version of the Tangled Treasures sandals from Anthro.
One of my exceptions to the no shopping rule for the next 30 days were if they went on sale. Well, they are still full price at Anthro but I found them on Endless for half the cost! So I bought a pair for my sister because I am nice like that :)
We woke up at 2 AM to drive to Boston for a 5:25 AM flight. Luckily we were upgraded to first class, which made the flight 100% more comfy :) and we are back and unpacked in time for yoga this morning. As much as I love traveling and vacationing, I really love being in my own house too.
This is my view from my laptop today. I love coming to Maine and visiting the hubs' family...it's so peaceful and quiet here and just a great way to recharge and refresh.
Our main reason for visiting this time was Grampa's Memorial Service, although we usually come up to visit once in the summer every year. The service was actually quite nice. Since he served in WWII he wanted to be buried in the Veteran's Cemetary in Augusta. At the end of the eulogy, a soldier played Taps on the trumpet, which gave me chills, and the soldiers also did the folding and unfolding of the flag (I'm sure there is a name for it, but I don't feel like looking it up right now). They then presented the flag to Gram which brought tears to my eyes.
Gram was in good spirits, all things considered. Many old friends and family came by to pay their respects and I really loved seeing Gram with her old friends. She was like a queen holding court!
The best thing about only having 30 items of clothing to choose from? Packing light! Fortunately family visits don't require full fashionista garb so this makes the 30 for 30 challenge much easeir. I will do my best to post on the road but make no promises. Have a great week!

The beginning of August always starts with the birthday of my dear friend M.
