My birthday weekend was a beautiful one. We used my old big camera for the rest of yesterday so no photos yet; my new big camera needs to have its battery charged! And instead of being sad that I am a year older, I am happy that I have made it through another one and thankful for my health, family, friends, and Joe.

Pseudo-ban
top: LoL for Target / pants: Gap / shoes: Old Navy / earrings: gift'd
I have both consciously and unconsciously not been shopping a lot this year. Consciously by cutting down on the amount of style blogs I read, especially those with an emphasis on wearing everything new, new, new as well as those skewed towards certain stores, as well as deliberately deleting all store sale emails before I am even tempted.
My lack of new clothes have probably been contributing to my lack of motivation to blog about the same ole stuff, but really I like to see how other people wear the same clothes in different ways, so why shouldn't I do the same? I love the print on this top and, of course, the color. Apparently I need to wear it with something other than black, though. My favorite look of the bunch is the pink on pink. Any suggestions?
top: Loft / skirt: Old Navy / shoes: Geox / earrings&bag: gift'd / belt: Anthro
The unconscious shopping ban has been due to our big move. We have been so busy packing, unpacking and decorating as well as enjoying the new place that I haven't really had that much time to shop anyways. And nothing with stop you from buying more sh!t than having to pack it all up!
However, I couldn't resist the call of the Anthro birthday discount as well as their bi-annual "big" sale. I wasn't super impressed with what they had, but I did pick up a few basics, a fun top as well as this belt.
Raise your hand if you are ready for the weekend already. I've got both mine up!

Go Dynamos!
In April we met Tally Hall, the goalie for the Houston Dynamos, our MLSoccer team.
Our building sponsored some group tickets so we decided to check out a game last night.
Joe and I aren't huge sports fans or followers, but there was some good energy at the stadium.
Forever orange! (And this photo is evidence that I really need some under eye concealer!)

project life | weeks 16+17
Part of my quiet weekend was spent getting caught up with different creative projects.

full spread without insert
A quarter through the year and I am still loving this project and album.

full spread with insert right
I enlarged a photo to 6x12 of my nephews (a.k.a. the boys, cuties or my babies) and got it enlarged at Costco. LOVE it and will be doing many more.

left side
I also like that I have been choosing favorite photos/memories from each week and not worrying about getting every photo-of-the-day. Some days are just more full than others.

insert front
The boys are so stinkin' cute. I really need to use my big camera to take better pictures of them more often!

insert back
The other half of the 6x12 print.

right side
I used a lot of digital elements for my journaling, which makes putting the album together so easy.

I also like that I start the week on a Sunday and end on a Saturday. It matches my yoga practice schedule and these days, it's all about the yoga (or mostly about the yoga).

Which brings us to the last week in April, the week I participated in Ali's Week in the Life project. I kept it super simple since I actually made WITL pages for another album. I mentioned before that I thought it was overkill and in a way it was, but now that it's done I am glad I finished.

left side
So for this week I did just choose one photo per day. I like that the ones I have for me and Joe are of our feet!

right side
Again, I love using enlarged photos. I cheat and use Photoshop to cut the photo into 4x6 size so I can print them cheaper and then put them together like a puzzle. But they have a great impact.
And April is all done!

Happy Monday
tunic: Missoni for Target / jeans: Gap / sandals: B. Makowsky / earrings: gift'd
On Friday Joe and I hosted our first dinner party and we think it was a success. I think we proved that vegetarian, gluten-free can be tasty and include dishes other than salads! The rest of the weekend was pretty quiet, but in a good way. Have a great week!

on the mat | just show up
I've been told that the days you least feel like practicing are the most important ones to go. And I have found those days (like yesterday) can end up being the best practice days of the week/month/year. Yesterday was tough because I was practicing by myself for about 30 minutes before anyone else showed up. But it did turn out to be a great practice.
{On an unrelated note:} Things have been quiet here lately on the blog-front as I seem to have run out of things to say! The blog started out as somewhat of a diary to myself, somehow morphed into a fashion/style blog and now is kind of mish mash of randomness. I am trying to let go of my self-imposed expectations of what I should be writing about and just write from my heart. Thanks to any followers to stay but I completely understand if you get bored and leave :)

project life | week 15
Hard to believe Easter was one month ago. Seems like just yesterday!
Lots of mini-templates used for adding extra photos and journaling.
12 photos on April 12th. I have found doing Project Life is such a fun way to document everyday life. I have a feeling this is going to be my main creative outlet for photos and paper for years to come.

Pink is the new black
top: Liberty of London for Target / jeans: Gap / shoes: Target / sunnies: Gucci / bag: LV
Pink, for me, is practically like a neutral. I can pair it with just about anything!
I never thought to pair this top with anything besides a traditional neutral so I'm glad I happened to pack them together on our trip to Dallas. And I like it belted, although in going with my "less" theme, I have been minimal on my accessories lately.

project life | week 14
In an attempt to get caught up with my weekly pages, I have kept the rest of April pretty simple.
We finally got our computer online again so I was able to use lots of my digital templates for the journaling, which makes things much more legible! But I still included some of my messy handwriting to vary it up a bit.
I think all these photos were snapped with my phone as well as the photos of the scrapbook. Photos of photos from a phone don't translate very well, but you get the idea. My goal is to get caught up with the weeks by this Monday...we'll see how it goes!

Happy May!
top: J. Crew / jeans: Gap / shoes: B. Makowsky / bag: LV
I'm still in love with colored jeans for the spring and summer. The brighter, the better!
May is my favorite month of the year, and not just because it's our anniversary and my birthday month. Well, mostly because of that, but also because usually the weather is still nice enough to enjoy being outside. I'm looking forward to a great month!
