fun times

Another fun trip to Lake travis. The day went by too fast as usual. Enjoying life with our friends...what could be better? (Maybe tomorrow when I'm over my hangover!)

Been gone a long time

We had a fabulous time in LA!! Madonna rocked and I loved seeing Cindy. Miss that girl! However, by the time we got back home on Monday night we were exhausted.

We even had our final American Idol party last night. It was a success. Mr Soul Patrol Taylor won - not that I really care about him all that much. But the show was quite entertaining. And afterwards I went to M&D's to watch Lost. That show pisses me off - every time one question gets resolved, a million more pop into it's place!! I hate cliffhangers. Yet, I will be anxiously awaiting its return in the fall.

That's all for now - not been in the blogging mood lately.

I'm going back to Cali

Tomorrow! Way excited about it. We had a little drama with a new addition to our group, but I'll get over it. Venice Beach and Hollywood, here we come! I need to look up the weather to see what clothes I should brind. Lots of packing to do tonight.

Finally got a picture to upload! Here is the fam - love them! This is a cute pic but our heads need to be closer together...

More random facts

24. I am the worst procrastinator ever. I keep meaning to make a list of things I need to do. But I haven't yet. I try to remember everything in my head, but inevitably I end up forgetting something.

23. Lately I have been reading less fiction and more non-fiction. I've been obsessed with The Big Picture and Stacy J's whole scrapbooking philosophy. I am excited to start her library of memories class this summer!

22. I've been feeling fat lately - probably because of the whole not-working-out-because-of-my-bunion-surgery thing. I did go to the gym this morning and did a leg workout as well as walked 30 minutes on the treadmill. I am really missing the whole running thing right now!

21. I am in the process of scanning all of my negatives into the computer. I have no intention of scrapping every single picture, but I'd like to have them all here. Just in case.

20. I get so much more done in the morning than in the evening. I am a definite early bird. This is most likely a result of my mom forcing me to go to bed early as a child.

I love my family!

So we drove up to Arlington on Friday night to be with the fam for mother's day. Ting and John surprised them with a visit as well! We all just hung out on Saturday - I was envisioning this amazing photo shoot and while we did get some great pics, but I don't know what my hair was doing and I don't like my shirt (yes, very narcissistic of me), of course not nearly as many as I would like. I guess practice makes perfect. I definitely need to get a tripod - this would make the whole family pictures a whole lot easier! But the ones of us looking up to the second floor were definitely my favorite. We will be doing much more pictures like that in the future!

I am having trouble uploading the photos so I will do so later.

I am still tired from getting up at 3 am to drive back home but at least I have the day off! I have already gone grocery store and done 3 loads of laundry so I am feeling somewhat productive.

Is is Friday yet?

Thank goodness it is! This week has just been hectic at work. Where does the time go?

We are going to Arlington this weekend to visit with the Fam. Ting and John are surprising Mom and Dad for the weekend. I am ready to see everyone. I want to take lots and lots of pics....

Not much to say today. Not very inspired right now.

AI sucks

I can't believe Chris got sent home! This is awful. Even more awful than when Ace got sent home. I really thought he was going to win it all! And I did try to vote but crap!! I was shocked last night. So who are we left with: Katherine, Elliot and Taylor. I can't believe it still. The reality is setting in this morning.

Life will go on but again, AI just won't be as fun to watch...

8:23 PM
It looks like Chris may be the new front man for Fuel. I was never a huge fan, but now that he's there I may have a little interest.

Got my haircut today! More layers, to go with the new highlights. LA here we come!! Too bad I have been a lazy ass for the last month and haven't been working out (well, to my credit I'm just glad I'm not walking with a big limp any more!).

Otherwise I am feeling a bit shitty right now. My body is starting to ache all over. Not a good sign. To bed early tonight (which means right now - I thought when we get older we need less sleep! I feel like I need more and more...).

Mornings to blog

I can tell already I'm having a hard time getting back into the work out routine. I am enjoying having these few hours at the house to myself. To give me credit I did do half an hour today - 150 bicycle curls, 100 modified push ups, 150 leg lifts and stretching my hamstrings in between. I really need to stretch - yoga is going to be bitch when I go back. I just don't like going to the gym to simply lift weights. It's just so boring to me. I probably need to get a new MP3 player - it's much easier right now at home because I was playing the stereo.

I really want to do a mini photo shoot when I go home. I just got to get the troops motivated. I want some fun pics of the fam. I guess the more I can plan it out the easier it will be for everyone. I think I will send Ting the link to the Tara Whitney blog so she can kind of see what I am imagining.

I need to do my Art Journal page and then get ready for work. Another day at the grind....

AI is almost ending. I am most sad about that. We will be having the closing party chez nous.

Erasure..

was fabulous last night! Definitely more mellow, since it was an acoustic set. But very intimate and fun. Andy still has an awesome voice! And of course they played many old favorites, including a little respect (last song), oh l'amour, sometimes, love to hate you, and many more. The set was not very elaborate. And poor Baby Joe was still sick so Richard went in his place.

Marc, D and I had dinner at Fish before hand. Yummy sushi. I had 2 vodka tonics so my head is a bit achy this morning. I need to drink some more water before work.

Unwelcome visitor...

Aunt Dot surprised me this morning. I was wondering why I was feeling so crampy. Well, now I know. This is probably the worst thing about being a girl. Hate it!

I dropped my car off at the dealership to have them finish fixing the FDRS (Fold Down Rear Seat). Hopefully it won't take too long.

Poor Joe got really sick around midnight. This is the first time in our whole relationship that I remember this happening. Needless to say, he is not feeling 100% this morning. I may have a companion on my day off!

Long and short weekend

We spent the night at the beach house in Galveston. Much fun was to be had for Richard's Bday. I drove down with Matt after seeing patients in the morning. Marc, D, Matt, Rob and Daniel arrived a day earlier. Ken, Peg, Joey, Chad, Amanda, Johnny, Patrick, Joe and Doug all joined us later. Lots of good food eaten, including shrimp, chicken, sausage, hamburgers and Peg's yummy seven layer dip.

We went to this club in Galveston called the Undercurrent. Should have been called the Undertow! It was ok, but their drag show just dragged after a while. And I have never seen such masculine looking women in my life (NOT drag queens). We were lucky to make it out of there by 1:15 am!

This morning we had brunch at a restaurant called Pic's on 45th. Yum-o!! Excellent crab cakes and sweet pototoe fries. I am definitely going to try baking sweet potato fries - THAT would be good!

We are going to see Erasure in concert tomorrow with Marc and D. And I have a day off - woo hoo. Need to get some better sleep!

More random facts:
29. I typically wake up before 9 am on any given day, no matter what time I fall asleep (excluding any help from sleeping aids). Because I like to have at least 8 hours of sleep, when I go to bed late and get up early, I tend to be tired all day. Like today.

28. Madonna is probably one of my favorite musical artists ever. Say what you will about her, personally or professionally, but that bitch has got some staying power. And some good music. I am listening to Ray of Light - which, to me, brought in a new era of Madonna. She had gone through some freaky stages in the mid-90's. But she came out of it a better person and better artist. It's a great CD. Not very dancy, but her lyrics touch me more than usual. And I have loved every CD since.

27. I love to type things on the computer. And play with fonts. Probably because my handwriting is so atrocious.

26. I love paper goods. Stationary, card, little notebooks, you name it. I have to stop myself from buying too much, because most of it doesn't get used. It's too pretty!

25. I think I may be tone deaf. I cannot sing to save my life. American Idol I am not...

NSD!

Yes, I am an even bigger nerd for knowing today is National Scrapbooking Day! Two peas is having lots of activities, which I won't be able to participate in, but hopefully they will have the stuff up long enough for me to enjoy!

After seeing the one-day post-ops, I will be driving down to Galveston with Matt. We are staying with Richard, who is having a pool party for his 41st bday. It should be a good time, as long as it doesn't rain all day! Otherwise I'm not sure what we'll do. But you can bet that my camera will be there to capture all our fun moments!

Joe got up bright and early this morning to ride his bike down there. Thunder and rain have already started here, hopefully they will miss him or be over by the time he gets here!! He is so intense on his ironman training - I'm really proud of him!

I've been working on my Art Journal and trying to change a habit by keeping clean. It's mostly working. Sometimes, when I get caught up in scrapbooking, I get lazy. But I just gotta keep on!

TGIF

So this month I will pretty much have every weekend off!!! I can't believe it - so happy about that. Now that's a little thing that makes me happy. I think one of the reasons I like my job but don't LOVE my job is the work hours. I understand why we need to, but that doesn't make me have to like it anyways. I accept that we have to, but again, that doesn't make me have to like it. So I am definitely going to be appreciating my birthday month!

Joe and I had a low key anniversary celebration today. I just made him a layout for a little gift (we said no gifts this year). He got me some tulips and a new, bigger camera bag! He said it wasn't technically a gift, since I needed it. But very sweet nonetheless. That's my boy (sweet, unless he's slamming the door when he thinks you're talking too loud on the phone. Sometimes it can't be helped, especially when Lost throws you for a loop!!!).

Not working out is starting to get to me. I feel soft and out of shape. I am so ready to do some cardio!! But I do like how it frees up my morning to surf and blog! I also need to work on my art journal, so bye for now!

First day of May!

My birthday month! Goodness, the year has gone by so quickly! I'm not going to be bloggin' for the next 2 days - going to Austin to sub for Dr. B for a couple days. The travel is kind of a pain, but I think the work will be slightly easier than here (I hope!).

So no Art Journal for the next few days either. I'll think of things I want to keel clean and the catch up when I get back. No biggie.

No AI party either! Man, this work thing is interfering with my life!

Update: I don't have to fly to Austin until tomorrow morning since they don't open the office until 10am. So play time at home for now!

I need to get massages more often!!

Joe and I did our annual anniversary couples massage today. 80 minutes of pure relaxation. LOVED it! Afterwards, I was a little foggy - like I just woke up or something. But it felt great.

Today is the first official day of my Art Journal. Mine is very simplistic, but that's ok. And of course I won't be home next Tues or Wed so I'm not sure how I should do it. I guess I'll play it by ear.

Overall it's been a good, relaxing day.

I have even got some scrappin' done. I made a layout for Joe for our 4th anniversary this Thursday. We have been keeping our celebration low key this year - no gifts and nothing too lavish. Just the massages. But I will probably buy some flowers on Thurs as well as get a card. That can be my project during my Austin trip.

Saturday, April 29, 2006

So I am finally starting my 21 Day Art Journal Challenge. Just using a small Bazzill zippered scrapbook to make little notes on how I want to be neater by the time I turn 35. Tomorrow will be the first official day and it will end on my bday. We will be in LA at that time so I will probably have to finish it a bit early, but I thought this would be a good thing to bring in my new year with. I collect so much stuff and we have so much random clutter. The clutter has definitely been pared down - most of it is just scrapping stuff now!

I have really been inspired to scrap today. Probably the bad weather this morning. I didn't even shower until 10AM - very late for me! I made a layout for mom and dad for mom's and dad's day, respectively. I already finished a China layout for the 'rents. Need to do some journaling for it, but it's done otherwise.

I also got the QVC Heidi Swapp All About Me album. It's missing 4 pages but otherwise in good shape. Not bad for more than half price ($9.99 + shipping vs 26.99). I am feeling like working on it, even though I'm not in the mood for journalling yet. Update: I have every page. Found them as I was working on it. Even better!

That's been my day. Fairly uneventful. Like I like it!

Music memories...

I love VH1 classics. They play cool old songs. Some relatively common. But some are more obscure. I love knowing the obscure songs. I would really like to make a scrapbook/journal of the songs that I love. From my first Abba tape to my latest Shapeshifters CD. It would be more of a journal I guess. Too many songs to remember. But I associate many memories to what I was listening to. I guess that means I have an audio memory??

Shower Time!!

Today is the 3 week anniversary of my bunionectomy. And I took a shower for the first time since 3 weeks ago! It was bittersweet, however. I can tell I am entering the more difficult phase of my healing. I'm feeling much better and mobile first of all. But looking at my foot, which I can now do, I can tell it's not nearly healed yet. Maybe about 60%. But the skin around the stitches isn't fully sealed and the wound bled a little this morning. That just made it feel more painful. So in the shower I was standing very gingerly on my foot.

I know Dr. L would tell me to bear weight on it as normally as possible, which is what I have been doing. Still gimping along a bit but making progress. But just looking at my foot kind of grosses me out. I'm glad to be able to wash if finally! I just need to take it easy as much as possible now so that I will recover more quickly. I definitely don't like having to wrap it myself - I don't want to see it until it's fully healed!

No more stitches!

Yay! I got 11 stitches taken out this morning. And I am wearing tennis shoes again! Woo Hoo. My footie still somewhat swollen but getting better. And tomorrow I will be able to take a shower!! woo hoo even more!!! Taking baths is for the birds!!!

I may have to work in Austin in Sat. NOT happy about that, but not much I can do. At least I will have Sunday and Monday off. Work is not too fun these days. Struggling to make our numbers this month.

Mom is taking care of 2 little kids this month. Some friends of theirs in their choir is sick, got a liver transplant and is still in the hospital in Dallas. Hopefully she'll be able to give them back soon. Maybe this will quell her desire for grandbabies!!

Feeling kind of blah right now. Not bad just not feeling like doing anything. Lots of random thoughts in my head....

Unlikely inspiration...

...as I am getting ready for work this morning, it hits me. I am going to be 35 in less than one month!!! Good lord, where does the time go. I still feel like I am about 25 (except when it's after midnight. If I'm still awake, I usually feel like I'm 105!). So I thought I would collect 35 random facts (obsessions) about me. 5-9 per week until we are there.

35. I obssess about my eyebrows, or lack thereof. I am forever trying to shape them but it's an impossible feat, since I hardly have any to shape. What really kills me about them is that they grow DOWNWARDS. What is a girl supposed to do about that?

34. When I was younger I used to love keeping lists of everything. I still do, but most of those lists are in my head. Sometimes they get logged on the computer somewhere. The funniest thing I used to keep track of is what make-up my teen magazines where using. Maybelline, Revlon, etc. What color, etc. I was a weird, geeky child.

33. I have the worst handwriting in the world, bar none. Terrible. I can hardly read it myself sometimes. I attribute it to writing too much in optometry school. Looking at my notes the 1st and 2nd years, they were actually legible. Now, I have to write v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y in order to make it half readable. This is something I really need to work on.

32. I am terrible at keeping up with the news. US and world. History doesn't interest me at all. I usually just get annoyed when I hear about whatever is going on. I feel like I should keep better informed.

31. I have a million (well maybe not a million, but a lot) of different lipsticks, glosses, you name it. I rarely wear it daily. My go to is the blue Chapstick. Love it.

30. I often think of what I would do if we won the lottery. Mind you, I never actually buy a ticket, but I like to think of what I could do if money were not an issue.

All for now. Heigh ho heigh ho.

Update: I forgot, work doesn't start until 9 this morning! one more whole hour to play!
