On why fashion isn't frivolous: If you feel good in your clothes, you feel better about yourself. For me, feeling better about myself puts me in a better mood. Outwardly, that is reflected by smiling more and being a better person in general. And I know I always want to be the best I can be. So bring on the sales!
I am feeling especially fabulous and fierce today (two overused words referring to fashion-y stuff, but I still love them!). Good hair days always rule. I finally got a pair of slim black pants and I love the proportions of this pair from the Gap. Overcast cloudy days rule for taking better remix photos!
I love the ruffle-y goodness of this top from Ann Taylor, which is why I bought it in 2 colors!
And it's just cool enough for me to wear this trench I got from F21 in NYC last fall. I think it's going to be a good day!
This last photo is a gratuitous shot of my dear nephew, who has discovered his hands. Apparently they taste yummy. He is getting cuter by the minute!

Ooh, I love that AT top on you - the colors and "petals" are really pretty.
I don't know if I am just noticing things more bc I've been blogging this spring, but are the retailers coming out with much cuter stuff this spring or what?!
You look absolutely gorgeous...love the AT top on you! Oh, and I am in total agreement with your argument for shopping...well said. :)
Btw, your nephew is a cutie pie. :)
that outfit is a winner! i love the ruffly top A LOT.
Ooh, fun top!
I also finally found a pair of slim black pants that work for me (it's amazing how hard it is to find the ones that work). I feel the same way about shopping. Though I do have to say, now that I have a more "normal" work schedule and can only shop on the weekends, I find it much less enjoyable. I loved going to the mall on a Monday morning where I had the place practically to myself! :)
I've belatedly realized that fashion isn't frivolous -- it's an important part of feeling good in life. Wish I'd realized that years ago!
The Ann Taylor top looks beautiful on you.
