Merry everything

December has seriously flown by. We have less than one week in 2013! I am super thankful to be spending the rest of the year with the ones I love the most.

The old blog has been sorely neglected this year. I am not quite ready to give it up, yet also don't have the commitment to it like I have before. We'll see how it goes, I suppose!

Happy 2014!

Vday in IG

@hoover11 knows I prefer tulips over roses
The hubs and I aren't huge Valentine's people but I do love receiving flowers from my main squeeze. And he knows I prefer tulips (especially when they are pink!) over roses.

Arm candy from @hoover11 #chanlui
A little arm candy from my arm candy always helps too.

Valentine candy mother load
We hosted the Project Runway party last night and one of my friends, who is a teacher, brought over the mother load of V day candy. Fortunately most of it was claimed by other friends, although we did keep the Lindor (love those truffles!).

Belated Valentine love from me to you!

Merry Christmas

Untitled
The hubs and I are enjoying one last breakfast at his parents before we head out to the airport and back home. Not an ideal way to spend the day but it's all good.

Merry Christmas to you! I hope Santa recognized all your goodness and gave you many gifts.

weekday casual | holiday party no. 1

Me and my boy
Last night the hubs and I attended the holiday party held by our apartment peeps.

Untitled
I will be the first to admit our sole purpose going was to eat holiday food and desserts.

Untitled
dress: Jovovich-Hawk for Target / tights: target / boots: Anthro
But you know I will take any opportunity to dress up!

We are participating in a yoga workshop with some yoga peeps this weekend. So so excited about it. Have a great one!

getting in the spirit

City sparkle
Thanksgiving came a week early this year so technically we had an extra week in November to prepare for the holidays, but they are creeping up so quickly anyways!

Decorating the tree
We decorated the tree last night. I love finding little treasures, like this ornament my sister made me for Christmas last year, that I forgot about.

Happy holidays
All the ornaments on our tree this year are either handmade, gifts, or medals from past races we have participated in. It's actually a great way to display those things.

How is the holiday spirit going in your house?

a month of gratitude | giving thanks

My love
I am thankful for the love of my life, even though he can drive me bananas some times :)

Got our Christmas cards - can't wait to mail them
I am thankful that I have our holiday cards all printed!

Running with the fam
I am thankful to spend time with my fabulous family.

Here comes trouble
I am thankful to catch funny little moments like this one - luckily we got the cupcakes out of his reach in time!

Untitled
I am thankful that a turkey feast includes lots of sides that don't involve any kind of animal product at all!

Happy day after Thanksgiving. Hope your holiday was full of family, friends and food!

fall colors | pumpkin

11.13.12
top: JCrew / cardi: Loft / skirt: Ann Taylor / shoe: b.o.c.
I am trying to wrap my mind around the fact that we are in the middle of November, JJ's birthday party is this weekend, Thanksgiving is next week and the Christmas holidays are just around the corner! Thanksgiving is a wee bit early this year and we have a whole week after it before December actually starts but still. I feel behind already! Have you started your holiday planning yet?

Not quite ready

12.20.11
all items remix'd
top&boots: Anthro
cardi: Banana
skirt&tights: Loft
earrings: Collingnon Designs, gift'd

The more I think I am ready for Christmas, the more I realize I am not. Every year I tell myself not to wait until the last minute to buy gifts and every year I do. Oh well, I guess that's the nature of the season.

I also completely forgot a regular camera yesterday so this blurry iPhone outfit photo will have to do. I wish I had the rest of the week off to get caught up. I am just counting down the days...

Happy Black Friday!

One good thing about working today is that it keeps me from being tempted to go shopping. I actually really hate physically shopping the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas because of the crowds. I am going to attempt all my holiday shopping online this year.

The hubs and I celebrated a very non-traditional day last night with our friend GJ. This was our first Turkey day as vegetarians and I was still as stuffed as usual.

H-town is not a bad city when you catch it at the right moment.

A glimpse of what I wore to brunch.

JR is my favorite cat in the world. He is so mellow.

My favorite boy in the world.

Have a safe rest of you weekend if you are off; I feel ya if you have to work this weekend!

The case of the incredibly shrinking calves

11.22.11
shirt: J. Crew
skirt: Old Navy, remix'd
boots: Nordstrom Rack
earrings: gift'd&remix'd
necklace: F21, remix'd
cuff: Tiffany's, gift'd&remix'd
belt: Gap, remix'd

I bought a new pair of boots over the weekend and am actually wearing them immediately. I usually hoard my clothes, like the shirt I am wearing that was bought in July and haven't worn until now. The cognac color is a great addition to my boot collection, which I have been slowly adding to over the past few years.

There was a time a few years ago that I would have to try on a zillion pairs before any fit, which is how I bought my first pair of tall boots. These days almost every pair of tall boots I try on actually fit over my self-proclaimed giant calves. The hubs theorizes that my calves may have shrunk since I stopped running and started practicing yoga exclusively. I was never really that fast a runner, but I'll buy that theory.

Happy early Thanksgiving! This one will be our first one as vegetarians; we decided to forgo cooking and eat out this year. I am just looking forward the day off.

Week in photos

I'm baaaa-ck! Being offline for the past almost-week has been quite refreshing. I'm also thinking the outfit posts will probably not resume until the new year, unless I get motivated some time this week. We were super lucky this holiday as far as travel goes - flew out of Logan at the crack of dawn this morning with no delays. I feel bad for those stuck in the airport still!

My sweet peanut was having a moment last week. We think he is teething some more.

December to January are usually our favorite months to watch movies because that's when most of the Oscar contenders are out. We saw 127 hours last week at the River Oaks Theater, the last independent movie place in town. Highly recommend.

Packing for our trip.

Our first night in Boston we stayed with our dear friends B&G. They are are super cool couple who used to live in Texas but moved up north to be closer to his family. You can't tell from the photo, but it's extremely cold outside! And they were good sports to don the Christmas hats I brought.

2010 12 24 photo
For brunch they took us to this delicious crepe place. I think I gained 10 pounds over the holidays between the delicious dinners, cookies and all-around holiday noshing.

Merry Christmas! This is the first time in quite a few years that we got the spend the holidays with all of Joe's siblings.

What do you do the day after Christmas when it's 20-degrees outside? Take lots of pics through a Slinky!

8 hours to go

09.03.10
all items remix'd
top: Anthro
skirt: Loft
shoes: Geox
earrings: gift'd

I have worn this exact outfit previously, but with different shoes and belt. That's why accessories are a girl's best friend!

Although this has been a short work week for me, the days seems to take forever. I am so ready for the weekend! Hope you have some fun plans with friends and family :)

Happy Easter!

We spent the better part of today with our friends for brunch and later Bunnies on the Bayou, an AIDS fundraiser. It was unbelievable hot and humid today but we can sacrifice for a good cause!04.04.10I thought my dress would be cool enough, but since it actually has a slip inside, the two layers definitely had me sweating!easter boyI love the hubs in pink!2010 04 04 photoUnfortunately I didn't get any real group shots this time around, but I do love this photo of me and my favorite bunny!

Hallmark Holiday

Joe and I always make fun of Valentine's Day because it seems like such a contrived holiday and also one that can make someone who doesn't have a Valentine to feel inadequate. That said, we do still celebrate, somwhat. Our gift to each other this year was our trip to Breckenridge last weekend. So we told each other we wouldn't get any gifts this year. We ate in over the weekend as well, to avoid annoying, crowded restaurants.

What I love about us is that even though we promised not to get gifts, we did anyway :)!
2010 02 14 photo
I just bought him an iTunes GC, some workout boxer briefs for his next ski trip coming up on Wednesday and some dark chocolates. He gave him the cutest pink running vest from my favorite workout gear store Lululemon and he made this photo wall collage of a pic of me (once we put it put it up, I'll post a pic). I love that he actually made something!

So yesterday we went to brunch with our friends at 1308 and then some more drinks at Bronx bar. The weather was gorgeous until about 5 or 6 pm when the cold front came through. But I was pretty in pink for most of the day!

My favorite part of this look? The gorgeous pink sweater that my dear friend MD handknitted just for me!

Hanging out

Today was a day of goodbyes and hellos! My parents drove back home to Arlington but Joe's parents arrived from Maine (via Phoenix, where they spent Christmas with his grandparents and aunt). Before we switched off parents we all met for brunch at Le Peep!2009 12 27 photo

Good Grief!

Every year around this time I think the same thing: "Where did the year go?" This year I really wanted to get more organized and write lists of things that I needed to get done...unfortunately that lasted probably the first week of January and I was back to my old ways (trying to remember everything in my head, which isn't very efficient!). I am not sure what I am going to plan for next year...

I also feel like I am behind on holiday schedule, mainly because of my hectic traveling. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this week will be my last trip out of town this year (but I won't hold my breath!).

Tomorrow starts my December daily. I am not sure if I am going to be able to create a mini-scrapbook but I am going to do my best to blog and post aDSC_7445 photo everyday. With this little guy in my world I am sure it won't be hard to do!

I am just so happy that we are still such great friends, even if we don't see each other as much as we would like.
