week in the life | friday

I am actually posting this from somewhere in North Texas (i.e. Dallas), where I will be working for the next few days. And I am about to go insane because Flickr and my MacBook are taking FOREVER to upload my photos.


I meant to take more photos of our new place, but this is really the only one I got. The never-ending laundry that needs to be done.


Pre-yoga. So glad today was Friday and I have at least one day of rest from practice on Saturday!


I bought their chocolate waffles for breakfast after yoga. Quite delicious with almond milk, even without syrup.

I used to think I could never wear yellow because it made my skin look weird. I think I was wrong, although this is still the only real yellow piece of clothing I own. I'm thinking I need a yellow polka dot bikini.


I've only recently started mixing and matching more unusual colors and patterns together. Being inspired by so many cool fashion bloggers out there certainly helps.

I am so glad it's Friday...been a long work week and I need another vacation!

{P.S. Blogger is doing that weird thing again by kicking me out every time I leave my dashboard so commenting may be problematic this morning. So annoying!}

Happy birthday to you!

I am celebrating another year with my baby sister.


Even though we are 5 years apart, we have always been close.


There's just something special about knowing someone your entire life.


Sharing so many experiences together has brought us even closer.


Now that she's a mommy (and a most excellent one at that!) we take more photos of the kiddos than of each other or with each other. I need to rectify that this year!


I am so lucky that my sis is also my best friend and doubly lucky that she and her family live 5 minutes away! Happy birthday Tingaling!

Tingaling! I guess if 40 is the new 20, than 35 must be the new 15 ;)!

Mysore Palace

I've been really meaning to see the Palace, but just haven't gotten around to it. I finally decided that last night would be the night. It is lit up every Sunday night at 7 PM and possibly one night during the week. During lunch at Anu's, I met another newcomer named Tracey, who came with me.

I was having some technical difficulties with taking a photo with me in it, so this was the best I got.


This photo was almost perfect but I chopped off the top! This is another place I would like to revisit and take some more photos!

Some things stay the same

For whatever reason my Internet stick decided to stop working today (that red light at its end is a bad sign). After spending the better part of the afternoon with the Reliance IT guy, the solution apparently is to wait until 6:30 pm and hopefully it will be up and running again. I thought perhaps it was a compatibility issue with the MAC but it didn't work on his PC either. Currently I am at Anu's Internet Cafe, waiting to skype with the hubs and keeping my fingers crossed. The joy of technology...things don't work no matter where you are!

Melukote

Yesterday I took my first day trip out of Mysore. I met some girls who had hired a driver to go to Melukote (Melkote), the location of some Hindu (? - still trying to grasp the vast history here) temples, about 50km away.


The main temple is a large square building, dedicated to Lord Cheluva Narayana Swamy or Tirunarayana.


The carvings on the temple was incredible...just so ornate.


We climbed up many stairs to the beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Yoga Narasimha.


The view was gorgeous and walking barefoot on the stairs just gave me a sense of how old and worn everything was. I do not understand any of the religious aspects of the temple, but people were going inside to pay respects to the priests (photography not allowed inside temples!).

I can tell these day trips are going to require multiple posts, due to the amount of photos I have as well as the length of time the photos take to upload to Flickr. I want to blog in real time as much as technology allows me to, but we'll have to see...

The weather has been slowly becoming more and more humid over the last week or two. WTF? Ah, the joys of living in H-town are neverending :)

I've got a meeting later on this afternoon, so will eventually don a jacket and some heels. But until then, I am dressing for comfort. No pink today either. Sometimes being professional and pink can be difficult!

P.S. Sorry if I haven't been commenting as much lately on your blogs. Our desktop computer died (luckily just some parts, not the hard drive). The hubs has got things working on our laptop, but it's functionality is not great and for whatever reason, reading blogs on Blogger can be a pain. Hopefully we will be up and running with a new computer in the next few weeks!

Keeping it simple today with one of my favorite tops ever. Photoshop was giving me trouble so I was unable to label the photo; may try again later tonight. {ETA: PS working again!}

The sweet Megan at Daily Waifu Snapshot gave me this lovely blog award and I am to post 7 random things about myself. Here goes:

1) I am an early bird as is the hubs - we were up before 5 AM and at the park doing our early morning run today!

2) We have started playing Scrabble after dinner as a way to connect and use our brain power.

3) I have taken a photo every day since Feb 2008. I love using it as a documetation of my daily life. Not sure how long I will continue...a photo a day for the rest of my life? Sounds like a lot of space on my hard drive!

4) I adore my baby nephew - he is the light of my life!And I think the cutest baby ever!

5) I really want to move into a bigger house with a pool. Hopefully someday soon...

6) I'm not sure how my blog morphed into a "fashion-y" blog but it did. I have enjoyed "meeting" cool girls because of it!

7) Pink is my favorite color :)
