We went west for a long weekend to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday!

Traded in walking boots for skiing boots.

Although we probably spent more time relaxing than skiing, the conditions were amazing. Every day was sunny and clear except Saturday.

I actually took less photos than I normally do when on vacation but that's ok. This year I am focusing more on living in the moment than documenting every one.

Seriously beautiful days out in Colorado.

We were only gone 5 days and now I feel like I am "behind" in life - tons on laundry to be done, groceries to be bought, house to clean. Ready for the weekend already!

My dear friend R started teaching yoga out of their studio this time last year. She started with 3 students and is now probably up to 20+ with a waiting list! So happy and proud to be part of this yoga community.

I haven't been talking much about yoga on the old blog...think my last post about it was in March of last year! This is mainly because I feel that yoga practice is just about that - practice. Talking (or bragging) about which post you can or can't do really doesn't matter. What matters is to get on your mat everyday (except Moon days and Saturdays, of course!). But it is still a huge part of our life. It's hard to describe why sweating in a room full of warm bodies makes me happy but it really does.

One thing I can say - didn't miss a practice day in January! That is a goal this year - no missed practices. This is most difficult when traveling, so we will see how it goes!

Vegas, baby!

We stayed at the Encore, which was a fabulous hotel.


Our excuse for the trip? Our friend, let's call him bcb, turned 40 in July but we couldn't all get together until now.


Lots of beers were drank.

On this day, many moons ago, we welcomed this little baby into the world. And my world became a better place.


My baby sister and I got to spend some rare QT together without her bebes yesterday afternoon. The lucky girl bought a new bday bag, courtesy of her hubs and Louis!


I am so happy that she moved down here almost 6 years ago. I love being able to just stop by whenever I can. And I love that the boys are going up, knowing their auntie and uncle Joe very well.


Happy birthday baby sis! I will always be your number one fan! 

29...again

Yesterday we celebrated the anniversary of my 29th birthday with brunch and drinks for a fabulous Funday Sunday. I am happy to report most photos were actually taken with the big camera (although I didn't adjust the settings properly so the pics didn't turn out exactly as I wanted, but sometimes living in the moment is more important than documenting it.).

Although Joe specifically requested no gifts, my dear family and friends are more than generous in showing their affection. I couldn't be more blessed.

Off to enjoy the rest of my day with my favorite man. Happy Monday!

weekend lens | the celebration continues

Sometimes the first weekend of the year can be a bit of a bummer because the holidays are over. Luckily we had a couple more things to celebrate to ease the transition.


We helped wish our friend S a happy birthday on Friday.


She and her hubs P are the cutest couple ever and fast becoming good friends. We look forward to getting to know them better in 2013.


On Saturday we went over to spend time with my side of the family. My sister and her family were in Cape Cod the last two weekends in December so we did our Christmas a little later this year.


These days the only way for the boys to stay still for the camera is to have something on TV for them to watch! You can tell they are tired because their fingers have a permanent place in their mouth ;). And unfortunately Dad couldn't be here to celebrate with us, but he's with us in spirit.

Hope you had a great start to your 2013. So not ready for a full work week, but it's coming so here we go!

We celebrated the 40th birthday of one of my dearest friends this weekend.


Marc is really one of our favorite people ever - just someone who makes your life better by being in it.


He is well-loved by everyone!

And my outfit was a hit. I can't tell you how much I love this dress - it's comfortable, flattering and so easy to wear. {I will confess that I changed my shoes halfway through the party. I can only sacrifice so much for fashion these days!}

Today is a special day. I am lucky to call my baby sister my best friend as well. She quite happens to be a wonderful mama to two of the most precious babies ever, loving wife to a good man, crafter and party planner extraordinaire, and all-around excellent human being. I love her! 

So thankful

My birthday weekend was a beautiful one. We used my old big camera for the rest of yesterday so no photos yet; my new big camera needs to have its battery charged! And instead of being sad that I am a year older, I am happy that I have made it through another one and thankful for my health, family, friends, and Joe.

Not much to say today except that I am sad the weekend is over.


We attended the 40th bday party of a friend of ours on Saturday night.


Everyone had a great time and the party lasted into the wee hours of Sunday morning.


I really liked my outfit too, but only got a picture of my new booties. They are DV by Dolce Vita that I found at Ross for $20. I decided life is too short to live without sparkly platform booties and bought them. My legs were aching by the end of the night, but they were worth it!
