weekend lens | family, food and flu

Auntie and DD
My sister and her hubs took their oldest skiing this weekend and left their youngest in my mother's caring hands. I went over there to visit and help out as much as I could.

Riding the train!
We took a ride on the train at Hermann Park on Saturday morning - it was actually quite cold especially with the wind.

Sleepy baby
Poor baby crashed on the drive home from the train (which is only 10 minutes away!). Mom said he hadn't been sleeping well, probably because his mama was away...

Unsure about uncle joe @hoover11
We took him to have Chinese food for dinner. This baby can eat and will try just about anything! I love his expression here - not too sure about his uncle Joe :)

Hello, Sun
This morning we woke up to watch the sunrise. I was planning on hanging out with Mom and baby today as well.

Feeling a bit rundown today so drinking honey ginger tea and resting all day!
But after yoga I was feeling very run down and flu-like. I'm thinking it was because of being so cold yesterday, but who knows. This winter seems to be the season of being sick. So spent the day at home, not doing much of anything.

Loves a man who cooks
Luckily I have a man who feeds me well. Here's to an early bedtime and hoping to feeling better in the morning!

some cuteness for the day

Untitled
It's no secret that my nephews are my heart. Being an aunt is one of the favorite roles of my life. J is now 3 (!!!) and talking so much and just such a sweet sweet boy.

No photo please!
DD is almost 2 (!!!), starting to talk more, as stubborn as his mama and auntie, and cute as a button. Unfortunately his stubborn streak leads to lots of photos like this, but that's ok too. I just want to bottle them up!

103/366 This photo makes me so happy - DD looks like he is so tech savvy and that smirk on his face is priceless!

UntitledUntitledUntitled And as much as I love my iPhone for the fun moments it captures as well as the convenience it gives me, nothing beats the quality of the photos from my big camera. I need to remember to use it more often.

december daily | 18 + 19

Joe's parents send us a live wreath every year - I love it!

And the buddha baby is 9 months old now! He still has all that cute baby-chubbiness about him but is definitely starting to thin out. I definitely steal my share of kisses from him and his big brother every time I see them.

I received some happy mail which made my Monday all the better. One was a gift from audreybella that I won off her blog. Thank you thank you thank you! And next year be prepared to see more posts like this with my Project Life pages.

And no daily album would be complete without my two loves - JJ and DD. I sweat they are cuter and cuter every day!

I realize many of my pages have been non-holiday related and I am ok with that. I like that this album is making me stop to think about the day and what story I want to tell.

Week in photos

My nephews were out of town the previous week, so this past week was full of babies!

Cuteness.

JJ is definitely starting his "terrible twos," but then he has moments like this. Look at those dimples!

Po po and her grandbabies.

2011 11 17 photo
Baby buddha is 8 months old already! I can't believe how fast time is flying. Pretty soon these monthly photos will be harder and harder to take because he won't be sitting still anymore.

Prepping for JJ's birthday party.

2011 11 19 photo
I can't believe this boy is already two (well, on the 27th, but who's counting). His parents' threw him an amazing fire truck themed party, complete with a live fire truck as well as an edible one.

2011 11 20 photo
And I can't forget my other cutie. We took a quick road trip to Austin on Saturday night to practice yoga with Tim Miller on Sunday as well as hang out in Austin for the day.

iSmile

This post is directly inspired by this cute lady. I found her through one of kendi's 30-for-30 challenges and have been following her ever since. She has been doing these smiles posts for a while and now that I have an easier way of posting random pictures, I thought I would finally join in.

Little things that made me smile this week:

Free cupcakes from Sprinkles! (Gluten Free Red Velvet, no less)

The early morning light outside my house. One good thing about the time change is that the sun comes out when it should, even though it leaves us way too soon.

I missed this face last week (they went out of town to visit the other side of their family). Baby Buddha is just getting cuter and cuter!

This fun top has served me well over the years.

I'm glad I've learned to dress it up for work.

What do you have to smile about today?

Week in Photos

Observations for the week:

2011 10 10 photo
This is my first real selfie in a long time. Maybe I should wear lipstick next time.

2011 10 11 photo
Our time at the first night of Houston Fashion Week was fun because of the company, not the clothes.

2011 10 12 photo
I seriously love this face.

2011 10 13 photo
Project Runway night was a bit more intimate this week, which I actually prefer.

2011 10 14 photo
My phone got upgraded...finally.

2011 10 15 photo
Dumplings are good.

2011 10 16 photo
Can you guess which one belongs to me?

Week in photos

Observations for the week:
2011 10 03 photo
Buying a pumpkin always signifies the beginning of fall for me. I like our matching set.

2011 10 04 photo
Baby J hasn't gotten as much picture love since Baby Buddha has come along. This is because he barely sits still enough for me to get a clear photo more than anything else.

2011 10 05 photo
The hubs and I ate dinner out the night before he left. Hurry home sweets, I am still missing you!

2011 10 06 photo
The weekend was full of babies. My sis and her husband went to San Antonio for a quick getaway and enlisted my mom, myself and my dad to help watch the kiddos while they were gone.

2011 10 07 photo
This little boy (almost!) is really the sweetest almost 2-year-old around.

2011 10 08 photo
On Saturday we took the babies on a walk to visit a nearby pumpkin patch. I didn't get nearly as many photos as I would of like because it started to rain. We were so happy for the rain that getting soaked wasn't a big deal; luckily the stoller kept the babies dry.

2011 10 09 photo
Does he not have the sweetest face or what? I know I may be biased, but I have a feeling both he and his brother are going to be heartbreakers when they grow up.

I gotta give kudos to all you mothers out there. Taking care of babies is much more difficult on a 24-7 basis. I think my mom and I were more happy to see their parents than they were!

Week in photos

Observations for the week:

2011 09 26 photo
Po-po didn't think she could love another baby as much as Baby J...but she was so wrong!

2011 09 27 photo
Big-eyed baby buddha is starting on his solids!

2011 09 28 photo
Baby buddha likes to pretend he is Superman.

2011 09 29 photo
Watching Project Runway is one of my favorite nights of the week.

2011 09 30 photo
Dinner with some yoga peeps at Dolce Vita. I need to figure out a better angle for the server to snap a photo.

2011 10 01 photo
We pretty much start every morning with 2 big cups of Joe.

Baby C at the pumpkin patch. My friend Al will be adopting him hopefully in the next 5-6 months.
