This blog started as a way for me to document my daily ramblings. With time and inspiration, it morphed into a "fashion" blog and is still slowly morphing into what I consider more of a lifestyle blog. Along the way, I have connected with a few people whom I don't know in real life, but consider them kindred spirits. One of them is the sweet Megan of megan mae daily. She never ceases to inspire me with her eclectic style, which is mostly thrifted, which also amazes me.

She also creates cool handmade accessories, such as button flowers and obi belts made from ties. And I received a fun surprise for Christmas this year.

I really love the colors she chose, because they feature my favorite, pink, and in just the right amount!

On cool days (I hesitate to say cold because this has seriously been the mildest winter ever), I like to wear turtlenecks to keep myself warm. I think I am the only person in the world who does, but I don't mind. I have always walked to the beat of a different drummer (I like to think, at least!).

This is my favorite outfit from this week. I am trying to break out of the top/cardi/skirt/boots combination rut I have been in lately and this colorblocked sweater is doing the trick.

So, yes, I did get eyelash extensions on Monday. One of my colleagues at work had some put on and convinced me to try them. While I love the way they look, I am not sure I will maintain them. But they will be fun for New Year's Eve!

Today's pink sweater is the 4th one that I own. After sweater weather is over this season I will probably re-evaluate which ones I really need to keep and which ones I should give away. This one is definitely going to be a keeper because it's cashmere. I love Uniqlo and although I wish we had one in Houston, my closet is glad we don't.

I have been getting dressed lately; just haven't had time to document the outfits! My December daily album has refocused my attention on other things, which is good.

A tale of the traveling skirt

This skirt came to me all the way from the UK! Jane, one of the dearest bloggers I "know" and one of the original people who started supporting and following my ridiculous blog, was giving it away and I won! The generosity of this community never ceases to amaze me.


I was actually afraid I may not be able to wear the skirt because of its thick fabric (would this be considered tweed?), but with the newly cold winter-like weather we have been experiencing this week, it was perfect! I had to include this photo because this is the face of a cold fashion blogger who didn't want to take a photo with her jacket because it didn't match. :)

I may have to rethink what I am wearing today...

Cutting out the middle man

I bought this skirt last month with the gift card I won from Lisa and finally wore it to Thanksgiving brunch. I love its color, length, flowyness - just a perfect skirt!


I have found that after receiving an iPhone, I am less inclined to take photos with either my point-and-shoot or my SLR. I love that I have different editing capabilities with different apps, and I can instantly upload them to Flickr, Facebook, or wherever I want.This means less time I have to spend on our desktop. This also means I am a bit more lazy with my photo-of-the-day. I wasn't too inspired this week to take great photos.


What amuses me most about all this technology is that my favorite editing tools tend to be the ones that make the photos look old. So we use new tech to get old tech effects. Gotta love the irony of it all.

As much as I like skinny pants, nothing in the world can make a girl feel leaner than a good pair of long, slightly boot cut pants, especially if she has muscular thighs, like me. Gap still makes great fitting pants, even if everything else they has is a bit blah. I wish they would take a cue from J.Crew and make some brighter clothes!


And speaking of skinny pants (well, jeans in this case), I made the mistake of going into Anthro yesterday and tried on a pair of AG skinnies and JBrand skinnies and loved both.


Do I really need a pair of lilac AND pink jeans? Probably not. Do I want them? Of course. Decisions decisions!

Over the last month I received 2 bloggy awards from

So seven random things you never wanted to know about me:
1) I carry at least 2 cameras with me at all times, usually my SLR and a point-and-shoot. I think my new IPhone is going to be replaced the PAS as I only took 4 photos with it on this most recent trip and about 180 with the IPhone.

2) I love coffee from my French press. Since returning from India in March, I have
been addicted to drinking a big cup every morning before yoga practice.

3) I am an early bird by nature and rarely get anything productive done past 8 PM.

4) Laundry is a chore that I don't hate because it has a finite ending.

5) My nephews are my two newest loves.

6) Getting to really know me takes a long time, but once you are in, I will love you forever. Just don't piss me off. :)

7) I am and will always be a goofball at heart.

Over the past couple weeks I have actually won a few goodies from fellow bloggers. My first win was this beautiful homemade flower made from a tie from the cutest Megan. She has some mad DIY skills as well as some killer style so go check her out (although if you read my blog you probably read hers as well).

I have really been enjoying the 30 remix challenge this time around. As I have been nearing the end, I got a request from Linda to wear these shoes again. I am to please, so here they are!

This bag has been my new everyday purse since receiving it for my birthday this year, even though this is its first appearance on the blog. The hubs knows how to spoil a girl.

I am getting back on my regular wake-up-and-blog-before-the-sun-comes-out schedule which means today is going to be a better day :)

This past weekend was Gay Pride. Anyone who knows me knows that the majority of my friends are male and gay (so almost like having a gaggle of girlfriends, without the typical drama). I know they are part of the reason I am self-confident. Who doesn't like someone to tell them they look amazing everytime they are seen?


Those aforementioned friends gave me this necklace for my birthday this year. I love it!


At any rate, I had to dress for the weather and added another pair of shorts to the mix. These are my favorite - they go with practically everything and are super comfortable. I typically don't like to have shorts in my outfit photos but Linda and Cee have inspired me to make them more stylish!

Is it weird that I am getting excited about the next 30-for-30? I have already started pulling out my pieces.

Last night we fell asleep around 9 PM and woke up this morning at 5:30AM. And that sounded better than anything else we could have done. We are taking a quick road trip to San Antonio this afternoon for a wedding. I'm just happy I'll get to dress up ;)! Any plans for your weekend?

One of the best things that has come out of blogging is "meeting" different people from all over. I draw more inspiration from real life stylish chicks than anywhere else. My quandary now is that I feel like I am running out of compliments. Telling someone they look great every time I leave a comment can seem somewhat disingenuous, even though that's what I may feel. After all, I wouldn't be following their blog if I didn't like their style. Any suggetsions?

Keeping it simple today with one of my favorite tops ever. Photoshop was giving me trouble so I was unable to label the photo; may try again later tonight. {ETA: PS working again!}

1) I am an early bird as is the hubs - we were up before 5 AM and at the park doing our early morning run today!

2) We have started playing Scrabble after dinner as a way to connect and use our brain power.

3) I have taken a photo every day since Feb 2008. I love using it as a documetation of my daily life. Not sure how long I will continue...a photo a day for the rest of my life? Sounds like a lot of space on my hard drive!

4) I adore my baby nephew - he is the light of my life!And I think the cutest baby ever!

5) I really want to move into a bigger house with a pool. Hopefully someday soon...

6) I'm not sure how my blog morphed into a "fashion-y" blog but it did. I have enjoyed "meeting" cool girls because of it!

What I wore on our last day in Maine before the front came through and I changed into jeans and through a sweatshirt on top! I'm not sure why I have such an odd smile on my face...still need to get used to the hubs taking remix photos I suppose.

I know I am complete nerd for wanting to chill out at home by myself instead of meet friends for dinner (Joe is out with the boys) but sometimes a girl just needs quiet time to herself, no? So while I was catching up on my blogroll, I noticed Sal had linked some sites that mentioned her Black-Out Challenge from a few weeks ago. When I clicked on this one, I saw aphoto of me! Silly, but kind of made my day :)

I have a serious addiction to reading fashion blogs. I think the fascination comes from seeing normal ladies styling normal clothes and realizing that I can do that too! The problem comes when I see something I really like and then realizing that I can buy what I like (unlike fashion magazines, where most items are unavailable and/or cost prohibitive).

Take these shoes for instance. I saw them on Chloe, and in just a few clicks they came home to me!

And look at this gorgeous dress! If I wasn't Lisa's loyal follower, I would be blissfully unaware of it, as I am immediately deleting all store emails before even looking at them.

I bought this dress at Saks Off Fifth awhile back. It is Calvin Klein, fits perfectly (well except the belt which works better at my hips than at my waist) and was only $40. I didn't know when or where I would wear it at the time, but now that I am wearing work clothes to work, I should be able to get my money's worth out of it!

I am wearing another pair of Hue Microfishnets. I adore these - they are sheer enough to wear for warm weather but give me enough coverage for work! I bought them in both nude and black and have a feeling I will be wearing them quite a bit this spring and summer. Thanks again Sal!
