Fashion Houston 2010 {Warning: Photo heavy!}

H-town hosted its first Fashion Week this year. One of our good friends R helped put it together so we were able to score some tickets and enjoy the show. It started yesterday and goes through Thursday; the hubs and I decided to see the inaugural show.


It took place at the Wortham Center. We thought this tent was where the actual show would be but it turned out to be where the sponsors had tables.

The first designer's line we saw was Cesar Galindo.


He designed some beautiful dresses.


Unfortunately our 6th row seats didn't make for the best photos.

Jeans weather

This cooler weather is throwing me off, fashionwise. Layers, what are layers? We need sweaters now? Say it isn't so! I am loving the temperatures, but have to readjust my thinking on what to wear!

I did get dressed in something other than Lululemon over the weekend. This tank is probably the only thing I will ever own that has McQueen's name on it, so it's a keeper. I love that the skulls in the blue fabric are very subtle.

And what I wore yesterday. I swung by Luke's and Gap after taking some head shots for a friends. So I think it's apropos that my remix photo was taken in front of a Gap window. Again, wasn't too inspired by what I saw inside. Patrick Robinson, I know you can do better!

I took a random day off from work today to hang out with my sis and mom and to see my little nephew off to his first day of "school." Poor guy, they had a fire drill right after he was put down for his nap so he didn't get much sleep, but he was definitely a trooper!

I thought I would find something new and exciting to wear today but I really love these sandals so out they came. And this technically isn't what I wore all day (I was in shorts and flip flops most of the day), but I am off to school myself (Continuing Ed for work).

What I wore on our last day in Maine before the front came through and I changed into jeans and through a sweatshirt on top! I'm not sure why I have such an odd smile on my face...still need to get used to the hubs taking remix photos I suppose.

And what I wore today after a long day of travel, yoga, cleaning, grocery shopping and hitting the gym. I realized that many of my 30 items are just different colors of the same item, especially the casual ones, but there's not much I can do about it now!

-Linda Carter's Wonder Woman for her kick ass 'tude, fabulous outfit and fabulous body to fill out that outfit (the only time I want bigger than A cups!)

-My Gucci platforms because they make me feel fierce and fabulous!

3) What is one of the proudest moments of your life?
-Getting accepted to and attending Cal Berekely for undergrad.

As I have been building my work wardrobe over the past few months, I have been trying to find pieces that I still enjoy wearing outside work as well. That said, I also have been trying to find "play" pieces that are work appropriate so I can get more mileage out of my wardrobe!

I bought these sandals and my other flat bronze sandals randomly at Famous Footwear last year and can't believe how much mileage I have gotten out of them. As much as I adore wedges and killer heels, nothing beats the comfort of a flat sandal.
I met up with A and R, gfs from school, for drinks, sushi, and dessert last night. I loved catching up with them! A is building a pool to add to her already amazing house so we will be back in a month to enjoy it.

I prefer taking my OOTD photos outside because natural light just looks better to me. My parents have A LOT of light inside and outside their house, so finding light isn't a problem; finding a place to put my little point-and-shoot is (not in the mood to set up the tripod, maybe tomorrow!).

This one was ok, but I thought the fence was a bit boring.

I really wanted one with the lake in the background, but the contrast was too harsh and it was really too hot to be out in the sun any longer!

Back on track

My schedule has been thrown off a bit this weekend with the family festivities and the what-not. Fortunately I actually had Monday AND today off, which has given me plenty of time to recover. I am driving to the Metroplex to work and stay with the 'rents, which is going to throw the schedule off again, but it's all good.

Yesterday the hubs and I were hanging out, doing our usual Monday thing. I went to see, embarrassingly enough, Eclipse with a friend...it was only ok. Some lines were amusing and the action was pretty good when there was action, but it dragged on for too long. The hubs would never be able to sit through 2 hours of that crap!

After the movie, I switched dates back to the hubs and we went out for some tapas.
Nothing beats some good food with the one you love!

Today I finally got my hair colored and cut! I decided to change from the red to a bit lighter...my summer 'do.
