I'm loving the extra daylight we are now receiving. I'm loving that spring is almost here. The sun is bright, sky is clear, all is good. I'm also loving that I am almost feeling 100% again. Allergies seem to be subsiding (knock on wood). Just a little pain in the glute but nothing that's unmanageable.


Love this neon pink skirt and am thinking it is going to get a ton of wear this spring/summer. I have slowly been doing the Great Closet Purge of 2013 and hoping to get rid of things that I have been wearing and/or don't love.


This olive cardi has proved to be surprisingly versatile and lasted through many different hair cuts. Guess it will be a keeper!

This skirt came to me all the way from the UK! Jane, one of the dearest bloggers I "know" and one of the original people who started supporting and following my ridiculous blog, was giving it away and I won! The generosity of this community never ceases to amaze me.


I was actually afraid I may not be able to wear the skirt because of its thick fabric (would this be considered tweed?), but with the newly cold winter-like weather we have been experiencing this week, it was perfect! I had to include this photo because this is the face of a cold fashion blogger who didn't want to take a photo with her jacket because it didn't match. :)

I may have to rethink what I am wearing today...

I can hardly believe only 31 days remain of this year. I would say I have had quite an interesting introduction into my next decade of life. I want to remember to savor these last days and not get to caught up in the stress of it all.


These boots were in my to-donate bag in my car when I decided that they would be a perfect match for this outfit. The mid-calf height is a bit weird; I think when I bought them I figured I would just wear them with jeans. These days I prefer to wear skirts, but I think they work with the dark tights.


My favorite part about shopping at Ann Taylor and Loft is finding gems like this skirt in their super+50% off sale time. I actually think that's my favorite part about shopping in general - finding great things at a low price :). I really should learn to be a better thrifter!

This is my first outfit photo taken with my iPhone, and, I must say, I am quite pleased with its quality. Of course it doesn't have the luscious bokeh of an SLR, but I rarely bust mine out for daily photos these days anyways. Taking a selfie with the iPhone is still a bit problematic though. I have a camera app that has a self timer; now I just need a mini tripod. Hmmmm, that may be going on my Christmas wish list!


This summery tank is slowly transitioning into a great layering piece. Of course with global warming and all, I don't expect much of a winter here in H-town, so layers may not be necessary anyway.

Looking at this photo has made me realize that when belting this skirt, it is not quite as "midi" as I envisioned, but it will have to do.


These earrings were a gift from the hubs yesterday as a congrats for reaching the 100! He really is the best. For those of you who watch Modern Family, I keep wanting to call them "hair rings!"

I bought this shirt in the middle of the summer but it's been too hot to wear anything with sleeves until now. It's my nod to the chambray shirt trend without being too much. Yes, I know I am behind. I take my time before I decide if I like a trend or not.


Lucky for me, pencil skirts are timeless and not trendy. Although I the ones at J.Crew are a bit pricey, the definitely wear and fit well.

Is it weird that I actually own 3 different types of pink pants? These are the only pair that are really work appropriate but I just realized this fact. I guess if you know me, it's not really that weird.


These pants have been with me for 6+ years. They are still in great condition and, thankfully, still fit well.


I bought them in '05 and wore them to a couple rehearsal dinners that summer, so they have a lot of good memories associated with them. I think I didn't wear them for a few years after but I am so glad I kept them. I guess building a lifelong wardrobe will include different types of staples for different people; mine will always have some pink pants!

I was inspired by this outfit to wear this shirt that I so loved from last year. I really need...ok, want...some brightly colored bottoms (like turquoise or yellow) to go with them.

I got this skirt in the Fall of '09 (thank you Gap and Old Navy for keeping track of when you make your clothes!) and it has proven to be very versatile, no matter what the temperatures outside. I like how these 2 photos demonstrate the changing of the seasons. We do have them here in Houston, some just last longer than others.

Weekend casual

This is the first Saturday morning in I-can't-remember-when where we have no obligations for work or travel or anything. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have to travel for work this month; I am so looking forward to an August where I can get in a good yoga groove, spend time with the hubs and nephews and friends, get our house in some kind of order and bake in the Houston heat! To that end, getting motivated to get dressed up is more difficult.

I actually wore this outfit on Thursday night to watch Project Runway with my peeps. I think this is going to be a good season! I am currently wearing practically the same thing, just different colors :)

Re-integration

The transition from India to the States hasn't been as weird as I thought it would be (like brushing my teeth with sink water and not worrying about getting sick!), although I do miss some things already (delicious coconuts and papayas!).


Seeing my baby nephews has been wonderful. My heart melted when JJ came running up to be to give me a big kiss when I first came over. He is so sweet with the new bebe!


The jet lag at home seems a bit worse than going over. But we have still been making it to practice.


As tasty as the crawfish may have looked, I was good and ate my homemade chickpea curry instead. Converting to vegetarianism hasn't been too difficult; I really haven't had any desire for meat at all.


My current journey has not been quite as exotic as my last trip.

I have been happy to re-introduce myself to my wardrobe, although ironically enough, I wore this tee to death in Mysore!

We've been having some fabulous cool, sunny weather this weekend. We spent the better part of yesterday and today soaking in the sun, eating some good food, and hanging out with our friends.


These are the most comfy pair of jeans that I currently own. I like that they can be dressed up or down.

I am so happy tomorrow is another day off. I start back at work on Tuesday after 2 months off...so not ready.

A cool front came through last night and blew away most of the humidity, thank goodness. Supposedly the temperature will drop even more later tonight. Let's keep our fingers crossed! I'm just happy I can actually wear some boots :)


I have been experimenting with different places to take my remix photos. I like the bright blue background of our house, but that location is right next to the neighbors house and I hate when I get busted for taking a photo. I'm sure they think I'm a little cra-cra.

I bought this top last year but haven't worn it until today. I guess that's the risk you run when buying things on sale at the end of the season. At least it's like having new clothes the next year. I'm also liking the colors today. Unfortunately they are more pumpkin than pink!

One more thing

Because everyone nees a bright yellow cardi in their life, I got this when I picked up my pants at the tailor. Funny thing is that it's listed as $39.99 online but was only $29.99 in store. I really hate that prices can be so different for the same items from the same store. My guess is that B&M stores lower their prices more in order to move merchandise.

Last night our PR party had a very special guest: Tracey, the HP sponsor who was on the show, was in attendance. Her hairdresser is one of friends. So the party was bigger than usual and I had to get a little more dolled up. I love this dress and didn't think to belt it until My Edit inspired me. This outfit is fun and makes me happy!

Last night we went to see a show...
Unfortunately Billy and the band didn't start until after 10:30, which is way past our bedtime, so we didn't stay for the whole thing. At least I did get to hear 2 of my favorite songs by them: Today and Drown.

I did enjoy a random date night with the hubs though. Apparently, we can't hang anymore. So no more concerts on a school night!

In honor of the last official day of the summer, I thought I would wear a nice summery look. I suppose I am breaking the "no white after Labor Day" fashion rule, but I think as long as I'm not wearing linen, the fashion police will forgive me on this one.


Apparently I like this look a lot, because I wore the exact same thing the at the beginning of the season. I have found that since I have been posting my outfits, I try not to repeat the exact same one, but I really like this look. What about you?
