They can't all be winners

This outfit works better in theory than in practice. I'm not sure why but these pants are making my legs look shorter and stumpier than normal. I'm wondering if it's time to find a more flattering pair of gray dress pants.

This cardi has been a workhorse in my wardrobe for the past couple years. I love that it can be dressed up or down. It was a staple in my fall 30-for-30 this year.

I've decided to sit out Kendi's Winter 30-for-30 this time around even though it may be helpful when packing for India. I'm just thinking my outfits are going to be more about comfort than style over there!

Hmmm...I see what you mean about the pants. It's probably just the cut of them. Maybe a slimmer fit pant to go with the flowy top? I love the colour of that top by the way.

I'm getting excited for you and your trip...I can feel your anticipation!

Ooo, I love the idea you have going on here -- it's probably because you're more petite, so all the looser items are too much. I think those pants would look amazing with a more fitted blouse, and I like Rita's idea of black skinny jeans under your current blouse and cardigan!

I love the subdued colors in this outfit!

I agree that a slimmer fit in the pants might make you more comfortable. Then again, it could just be the angle in the photo that makes you feel like you look shorter!

I think it's because of the way the sweater is tied at the waist -- it makes you look so long-waisted (at least compared to me!) so your legs look shorter by comparison. So yes, I'm blaming the cardigan (although it's great otherwise)!

First off, I LOOOOOVE the top half of the outfit! So good. In terms of the pants, I agree that there's something "off" about them, but I don't think I agree with other commenters that it's the cut. It seems that they hit you just above your foot, which sort of cuts off the sleek, long line that some wide-leg pants have. A few more inches and they might be just right!

I need a cardigan like that! I have a bunch of black cardigans in my closet but I don't LOVE any of them. But then when I go shopping I never want to buy a new one... because I have a closet full of them!
