project life 2013 | week 10
{mar 3-9}
We just returned home from our trip to Colorado and are slowing getting back into the swing of things. Hope you had a great weekend!
title page
Almost three months done with the year and still obsessed with this project.
full spread
I thought I included a good mix of photos and filler cards this time around.
left side
Some techniques used: hand stitching and stamping. I love that fortune. And I love that photo of the hubs in bed. He gets a bit annoyed sometimes when I bug him to take photos, but usually humors me anyways.
right side
More stitching and stamping here. That camera took a long time to make, but I love how it turned out! And I had to add a couple things from our first visit to Menchies, the cutest fro-yo place ever.We just returned home from our trip to Colorado and are slowing getting back into the swing of things. Hope you had a great weekend!

sister style | happy spring!
T: top: F21 / pants: Gap / shoes: Toms
E: dress: Gap / boots: Loft / cuff: gifted
So technically it was still winter when this photo was shot, but here in H-town winter is warm :)I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love and adore my sis. She is my bestie, a wonderful mom and fabulous friend. Every year she goes all out for birthday parties for her sons, cuties whom I also adore. She is lucky in that their birthdays fall in months where being outside is actually nice and not boiling hot.
We are celebrating the new season by going to the snow. Tomorrow we leave on a ski trip with some friends. So overdue for a vacation. Posting may or may not occur. Have a good one!

{Feb 24 - Mar 2}

Time flies when you track it week by week!

Another quiet week. Lots of people photos this time.

We threw a little Oscar-view party with our friends. I wanted to include some photos other than the normal everyone-arms-around-each-other-smile-for-the-camera ones. And on the invite I added a cheeky black-tie optional dress. Love that our friends E&R really dressed up. I should have photographed her look - Oscar de la Renta dress with Chanel shoes.
right side
Been trying to include some type of selfie of the me and the hubs each week. And lots of pictures of DD. I helped Mom take care of him over the weekend while the rest of his fam was skiing.
flip pocket - down and up
One technique I tried this week is making my own flip page protector to add more photos. Love love love the pic of the 3 of us on the train. The album tends to become center heavy because of multiple inserts so I added the flip pocket to the bottom right corner to even things out, if only a little.Sunday, March 17, 2013
weekend lens | happy days
My youngest nephew turned two this weekend. Two!
As usual, my sister went all out with cake, decorations, party activities as well as favors.
This cardboard train would have been a perfect backdrop for a kiddo photo but they destroyed it before it could happen. Hard to tell 2- and 3-year-olds what to do :)
For St. Paddy's day brunch we went to our favorite place, Radical Eats.
It's a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but their food and drink are delicious.

And finished the day with some packing for our upcoming ski trip. Can I tell you how hard it is to pack for skiing when the temperatures are in the 80s outside?

working wardrobe | just another day
top: Ann Taylor / skirt: Theory / shoes: Anthro / necklace: Collingnon Designs / sunnies: Dsquared
Today was just an average, ordinary day. Still glad the sun is out but it's not terribly hot. Yet. And really looking forward to the weekend.I like this skirt but it works better with heels, which I haven't been wearing much lately (although I did yesterday and yoga didn't suffer as much this morning as I thought it would). Still on the fence on whether to keep it...

working wardrobe | almost spring
top: Ann Taylor / cardi: M+O / skirt: JCrew / shoes: 9West / earrings&cuff: gift'd / sunnies: Dsquared
I'm loving the extra daylight we are now receiving. I'm loving that spring is almost here. The sun is bright, sky is clear, all is good. I'm also loving that I am almost feeling 100% again. Allergies seem to be subsiding (knock on wood). Just a little pain in the glute but nothing that's unmanageable.Love this neon pink skirt and am thinking it is going to get a ton of wear this spring/summer. I have slowly been doing the Great Closet Purge of 2013 and hoping to get rid of things that I have been wearing and/or don't love.
This olive cardi has proved to be surprisingly versatile and lasted through many different hair cuts. Guess it will be a keeper!

Eight (plus) weeks in and still loving it. Yada yada yada :)
full spread
I mentioned before that I wasn't really feeling the photo-taking a few weeks ago. So I decided to make a smaller spread. Project Life is cool like that - you can make it fit how you want it to be.
left side
Of course I had to include photos of my cuties. Since I'm not spending as much time with them these days, I treasure every moment that I do. And of course had to mention that The Walking Dead is my newest TV obsession. Just random snippets of life.
full spread, insert right then left
I received some belated V-day cards from the boys so had to include them. Love it.

On that Saturday I made a concerted effort to take more photos. These are all iPhone photos. Another week down. Bring on the spring!Sunday, March 10, 2013
weekend lens | springing forward
Things have been quiet this year in the K household, but I don't mind so much. I like to think of myself as a homebody-who-enjoys-the-little-things-in-life.
On Friday night we ate a giant pizza (and some apps) with S&H. This is our 3rd dinner with them this year; I'm thinking we're making it a monthly event :)
The Houston Rodeo is going on right now. We go every few years, but it's not really my cup of tea. So this is about as close as I am going to get to it!
Dinner on Saturday was at Radical Eats, a delicious vegetarian Mexican place. I had a spinach and corn as well as butternut squash tamale. Yums!
Today was a productive-get-stuff-done-around-the-house kind of day. Waking up was a bit more difficult - the sky was darker than normal this morning!

We finally hung up a piece of art created by JJ. Love the color! (I also cleaned out the closet, but that's a story for another post.)
As a reward for cleaning the closet I made another mess (which I eventually cleaned up as well).
Sunday dinner was cooked at home: tofu veggie pad thai with kale and beet salad. Definitely thought the food was picture-worthy.
Enjoyed another sunset with the hubs. Working is not always fun but it makes the weekends all that much sweeter.

getting crafty
Here lately I have been getting my crafty groove on.
Instead of shopping for clothes I have been shopping for scrappy goodness. I adore and am inspired by amy tan, which is why I want my grubby paws on everything she makes.
Catching up on my Project Runway tonight I busted out her new embroidery stencils. Love them!
I can't sew but I can stitch! Love this camera motif and it will be seen on a Project Life layout near you.

project life 2013 | week 7
{feb 10-16}
Valentine's week was a photo-heavy one...
And I included V-day cards from the hubs and his parents.
Another week for the books!
title card
Seven (+) weeks in and still obsessed with this project.
full spread, no inserts
(Sorry about the quality of this particular photo - an iPhone snap, the others were taken with the big camera)Valentine's week was a photo-heavy one...
full spread, inserts right side
...so I included 3 inserts!
left side
It is nice to leave some pockets more blank, like the bottom right one, to give your eyes a place to rest.
insert 1 front and back
full spread, insert 1 left side
We received a birth announcement of my cousin's baby girl, so wanted to add that, of course. Love that I have a place for random mail we get. And on Saturday one of my yoga peeps threw a big wedding reception, so of course I wanted to add lots of photos.
insert 2, front and back
full spread, insert 2 left side
We had a great time at the reception, with good food, friends and fun. Seems to be a theme these days, which I am totally ok with!
insert 3, front and back
full spread, inserts left side
I made a mini scrap page talking about the wedding and how I loved that she served not 1 or 2 but 5 different cakes for dessert. A girl after my own heart :)And I included V-day cards from the hubs and his parents.
right side
And more photos from the week. One great thing about being able to share photos from phones - I sent a book to a friend's boy in Cali and she sent me a photo of him reading it. Love.Another week for the books!
