Almost halfway though the year...no stopping now!

I tried something new this week - basically took out as many black and white cards as I could find from my different core kits to use, added a little pink for color and went from there. I rather like this look.

Here lately I haven't been taking as many everyday photos. So I am trying to include a bit more writing.

I did steal an IG photo my sister took of the boys, since the ones I had weren't as exciting. And one notable event from last week? I got a new phone/camera. The upgrade to the 5 has been so worth it - so much faster and the camera is fabulous! (These photos of the layouts were all taken with the phone and I am much happier with the quality compared to those taken with the 4). I have to make a conscious effort to take out the big camera these days.

Yesterday was definitely a Monday. Hoping today is a better one!

Currently it's Monday morning and I am trying to wake up. I love the long days of summer but going to bed early enough to wake up before the sun rises is hard! This week will be a good one because we are going on vacation Friday night :)

We celebrated the longest day of the year and the beginning of the summer with a little get together at our place last night. No yoga in the morning means that EE and Joe can stay up past 10 PM ;)

So happy to have found a female counterpart to hang out with all our boys. She's simply fabulous!

This weekend will also have the super moon for the year. Last night was pretty good but the full moon won't be until Sunday.

"Britney" and Crystal Waters performed at Rainbow on the Green. Who is the real deal and who is the impersonator?

This one makes me smile. We rather enjoy having our friends come over!

Sometimes I almost think documenting our life week by week makes time go by even faster...nah, that can't be true!

My baby sister celebrated her birthday this week so many photos were devoted to her and her (my) babies.

I think my favorite pocket is the one with the boys' faces. They are so stinkin' cute I couldn't just pick one or two photos. So photo templates are a great way to add more photos without adding more bulk (which is great as the album is getting fatter by the week!).

More snippets from our week. Including old photos helps give more context to the whole thing, I think and I will definitely be doing more of that! The 3x4 photo of our goofy friends actually pulls out to reveal a photo in the back. Yet another way to include more pictures.

This year I am definitely keeping things much more simple. Photos+words+pretty cards make it much easier to stay on top of things. I have a feeling that the summer is going to whiz by. Let's enjoy every moment!

Even though summer does not technically start until Friday, it's here. Spring was beautiful but the heat and humidity has hit us hard.

Another week documented :) Another week in love with this method of memory keeping.

The card in the bottom right is darker than I normally use so I thought I would balance it out with some black and white photos throughout the layout. While I don't necessarily match everything, I do like the week to coordinate.

Lots of pics of our yoga peeps - one of my favorite things about this year so far is getting to know these girls better. Yogis are good people! And I have been obsessed with Daft Punk's new album, which is one reason why I included those lyrics.

The moments that I most want to capture from the week: spending time with the boys, my friends officially tying the knot in NYC ( we weren't there but they sent me a photo so had to include it of course) and watching Grease outside :)

A storm blew through a little after lunch yesterday, which is the perfect excuse for not going anywhere in my book! And even though we didn't do much this weekend, getting up at 4AM for early morning practice today has still been a challenge...maybe I need another cup of coffee...

In an effort to better assess what I really wear in my closet, I have decided to track all outfits (as best as I can) this month. This also includes workout looks as well as lounging/hanging out looks. Like do I really need 10 pairs of shorts? My1-in-2-out closet philosophy has lost momentum and I know I tend to wear the same things over again.

Sunday: yoga/hanging out at home/shopping and lunch with my sister

My goal is not to necessarily purge everything just yet, but to simplify. I love pretty things and I love buying pretty things, but sometimes I think that $$ would be better spent toward a trip or more savings or to buy something for someone else.We'll see how it goes!

2013, will you please slow down?

Instead of making an insert for my birthday festivities on that Sunday, I made an entire spread.

Using a digital template allowed me to include all the photos that I wanted to without adding too much bulk. I also caved and bought the Blush core edition at Hobby Lobby (the cards from that kit are the "enjoy today" and green polka dot) - I love this kit because of the yummy colors (pink is at its core, so what's not to love!).  The brown week card is from a Studio Calico grab bag and the "live the life you love, love the life you live" is from the Jade edition (I don't have the full Jade kit, just bought a set of cards from someone on FB).

Full sized photos on this side so the eyes have a place to rest. The self-adhesive tabs are from Office Depot and help further separate the non-12x12 page protectors. Speech bubble card from Studio Calico.

I wanted to keep all the birthday cards I received, but they were adding way too much bulk to the album, so I picked out my favorites. The biggest problem with adding inserts is that the middle of the album gets fat quick! Really trying to keep only 2 albums for the year so gotta use more photo collages :)

I am a lucky girl; my birthday festivities continued on through the week. I am trying to include both handwritten and computer journaling in the pages, even though my handwriting is barely legible. Still working on that! The pink speech bubble card is from Blush. Both side of the cards from this kit are so stinking cute that I am going to try to use them which then maximized product as well as decreases some bulk.

One notable event from that week - Daft Punk released their new album and I love it! Get Lucky is the first single that is actually getting radio time, but the other songs on the album are amazing as well. The "Lucky" card is from Studio Calico, the other 2 journal cards is from the Turquoise core kit, which I used primarily in last years album, although I still have a ton left.

I have been using lots of digital elements, especially brushes and templates for this album. Love that they can be used over and over again, customized to any color and take up much less physical space.

happy birthday

On this day, many moons ago, we welcomed this little baby into the world. And my world became a better place.


My baby sister and I got to spend some rare QT together without her bebes yesterday afternoon. The lucky girl bought a new bday bag, courtesy of her hubs and Louis!


I am so happy that she moved down here almost 6 years ago. I love being able to just stop by whenever I can. And I love that the boys are going up, knowing their auntie and uncle Joe very well.


Happy birthday baby sis! I will always be your number one fan!
