Our friend EJ throws a big holiday party every 2nd Thursday of December. Over the last few years he incorporated a photo wall, this time with a big sparkly bow.

My tights (and booties) were a hit, although I ended up taking the shoes off before the end of the party because my legs were killing me. Note to self: always bring a back up pair of flats to parties when wearing high heels.

A movie filled weekend

11.27.11
tunic: Missoni for Target, remix'd
skirt: Fred Perry sample sale
leggings: Uniqlo, remix'd
boots: Loft, remix'd
jacket: F21, remix'd
earrings: Collingnon Designs, gift'd

This past weekend the old Angelika movie theater downtown reopened as a Sundance Cinema. We (including all of my friends) are especially happy about this because the theater is closer, doesn't get the throngs of masses and shows many independent as well as mainstream movies. Our first viewing there was My Week with Marilyn, which was a simply charming movie and Michelle Williams definitely deserves an Oscar nod for her performance.

On the flip side, I saw Breaking Dawn last night, which was melodramatic and completely cheesy. I had a good laugh and was entertained, I will give it that.

The other movies we watched over the weekend were The Descendants (Clooney was great; another good one), Midnight Cowboy (we like to watch old Oscar winners and this one was definitely interesting; can't believe it was rated X when it first opened!), and Soul Plane (this would have been much better with some chemical enhancement, but it was worth the $0.53 rental!). You know you are getting old when your primary form of entertainment is the movies! In our defense, the end of the year is usually about the time most of the movies worth seeing are released; we always try to catch the movies and actors up for Oscars before the awards the next year.

This photo makes me smile because I am laughing at something the hubs has said. Posing with the vintage Corvette was my idea but I am not quite the pin up girl.

On dressing up

Because I don't have to dress up for work, I probably get a little overdressed when we go out. I do this because I have a clost full of clothes begging to be worn but also because I like it. I would rather be overdressed than underdressed any time - just makes me feel more confident and happy. And we like a confident and happy girl!

Yesterday we met some friends, including A&P who are visiting from London, out at Brenner's on the Bayou for brunch.

The food was only ok (I don't recommend going with a large group because it took so long to come out, which was probably why my food was cold) but the outside deck was nice. It was deceptively cold, meaning the sun was nice and bright making it look but the shade and wind were very cold and I probably should have worn a jacket!
