Another week down. This time change has done a number on our sleep schedule. Still looking for some inspiration. But in the meantime, we still live and love and do what we can.

my heart
Yesterday was Hallmark holiday. I always make fun of it, yet, love receiving tulips and love from my love. (The mugs I got for us from Etsy. So cute!)
We went for casual Indian food for dinner and wine and dessert at a sushi place. Perfect date night in my book!

finally Friday
The weather this week has been more crazy than usual. Hard freeze on Tuesday, 70s today. That's Houston for you!
Having the holidays in the middle of the week has also thrown off our equilibrium. I still feel like I'm on a boat, although it's much better now. Now just working on this hacking cough/allergies that aren't allowing me to get a full night's rest.
And we're still recovering from our NYE, birthday festivities. I am happy to report the hubs and I are doing better. Baby steps, I suppose.
TGIF!

weekend lens | a quiet one
We had a pretty uneventful weekend, spent mostly at home, which is what I like to do.
Saturday night dinner at Radical Eats was our highlight - love the vegan Mexican food! And their chipotle chocolate cake :)
Look closely at this photo; do you see it?
Joe's been busy studying for a Cisco test, which is the main reason we've been laying low. So left to my own devices, I have been working on outfits for Burning Man. Much more on that to come later!
Although Monday is here again, this week will be short for us (summer vacation, part 3 coming up!), so it's all good.

weekend casual | a little love
HER:dress: Anthro / shoes: Sam Edelman / HIM: top: French Connection / shorts: Gap / shoes: Jack Purcell
One of the many things I love about the hubs is that he takes me to places he knows I'll want to take photos of (and in!). The wall behind us was part of a large mural in midtown. Great spot for engagement or any kind of love photos! The whole wall was super cool. We love finding cool graffiti art.

11
11 years ago today, I married the boy who made me feel like the most special person in the world on that day, and every day after.
Today, feeling special included:
Love you babes, now and forever.
Today, feeling special included:
a bouquet of my favorite flowers
lunch with friends
a cool spot he wanted to share with me (because he knew I'd love to take photos of it).
Love you babes, now and forever.

weekend lens | B-cycling
I am a serious creature of habit and as much as I love traveling, I hate how it throws a wrench in my routine. This weekend we were supposed to go to Austin, but opted to stay home instead, which was a good decision, in my book.
We did try something new. A good friend of Joe's is in charge of a new bike program around town called B cycle, where you can basically borrow a bike for an hour or more and ride it around the city.
We rode around town for about 2.5 hours, including stops to
...eat dinner
...check out some blue trees :)
All of this done in Lululemon, of course!

all dressed up | Happy 2013
top: Robert Rodriguez for Neiman Marcus and Target / jeans: Uniqlo / shoes: Gucci / bangles: gift'd
Most of my wardrobe these days consists of either clothes for work, yoga or hanging out. I do my best to buy clothes that have multiple functions, but for something like New Year's Eve, something special is always best. I had looked at the Neiman's collection for Target back in December when it first released but wasn't super-impressed, especially since the prices were not in the typical Target range. However, at 50% off, I was definitely more inclined to try something, especially this top, which intrigued me online and I loved even more in person. Lots of ruffles which in not for everyone, but which I loved and works for me with my broad shoulders and height (I am not super tall, but not petite either so it doesn't overwhelm).
Our last selfie of the year
The hubs and I had a fantastic time ringing in the new year with our friends but I am having a hard time getting back on schedule. You know you are an early riser when you feel like you're running behind if you wake up at 5 AM instead of 4:30AM!
At least it's already Wednesday so the rest of the work week should go by quickly. Are you returning to work today or are you one of the lucky ones who has the rest of the week off? Either way, have a good one!

weekend update | date night
We had a quiet Saturday night this weekend - just used our Groupon to Quattro, the restaurant inside the Four Seasons next door.
Their menu was not completely veggie-friendly (we shared a main dish of eggplant Parmesan and sides of mushroom and truffled mashed potatoes, which were delicious!) but the signature dessert was yummy and pretty.
dress&necklace: Calypso for Target / shoes: Gap
And, really, I will use any excuse to wear this dress.
{All photos taken with iPhone Camera+ app, edited with Snapseed&Camera+ apps and uploaded directly to Flickr from the phone. I love it!}

Go Dynamos!
In April we met Tally Hall, the goalie for the Houston Dynamos, our MLSoccer team.
Our building sponsored some group tickets so we decided to check out a game last night.
Joe and I aren't huge sports fans or followers, but there was some good energy at the stadium.
Forever orange! (And this photo is evidence that I really need some under eye concealer!)

Changes around here
I have been a bit scattered for the past couple months for good reason...we moved! Joe wanted to keep it under wraps until we got more settled, but last Monday the cat was out of the bag. Our new place could not be more different than our old one - which we still own and are in the process of renting out.

We have lots of open space.

And lots of natural light. The walls are still bare and we are waiting on a rug for the living room, but otherwise are settling in nicely.

One of our favorite perks of the new pad - a fabulous pool! We decided we couldn't go another summer in H-town without one. Hopefully I'll have lots of new adventures to share coming soon.

december daily | 15 - 17
{Apologies in advance for the poor quality of the following photos. Taking iPhone photos in the wee hours of the morning make for slightly blurry pics!}

I wanted to document our early morning habits this month. We are more productive at 5 AM than at 9 PM :)

On Friday we got together with our friends to go ice skating at Discovery Green in downtown Houston. I don't think I have skated since I was a teenager, so I enjoyed doing something different yet slightly familiar. Luckily no one broke any bones!

And Saturday was my last official holiday party - bowling with my work peeps. I am lucky I work with good people.
These last few pages were simple but photo heavy. My book is becoming so fat so I am keeping embellishments to a minimum.
Happy week-before-Christmas!

december daily | 9
The hubs and I have been busy addressing our holiday cards this afternoon. The photos I used this year were from a family photo shoot we did back in October. I decided to put some of the ones that didn't make the cut onto this page. I will also add the actual card in the middle.
We are only 10 days into December (which means Christmas is in 15 days - eek!) and my album is already becoming so full! I am going to have to keep the thick embellishments to a minimum.

Houston Fashion Week
Last night the hubs and I went to the first show of Houston Fashion week with a couple friends. This was the same event we attended last year. The collections we saw this year were much less inspiring and for some reasons I just couldn't get any good pictures so I gave up.
all items remix'd
dress: Banana
shoes: Tory Burch
necklace, bangles: various, gift'd
belt: H&M
I did wear what I think are some fabulous shoes.

Week in photos
Observations for the week:

Buying a pumpkin always signifies the beginning of fall for me. I like our matching set.

Baby J hasn't gotten as much picture love since Baby Buddha has come along. This is because he barely sits still enough for me to get a clear photo more than anything else.

The hubs and I ate dinner out the night before he left. Hurry home sweets, I am still missing you!

The weekend was full of babies. My sis and her husband went to San Antonio for a quick getaway and enlisted my mom, myself and my dad to help watch the kiddos while they were gone.

This little boy (almost!) is really the sweetest almost 2-year-old around.

On Saturday we took the babies on a walk to visit a nearby pumpkin patch. I didn't get nearly as many photos as I would of like because it started to rain. We were so happy for the rain that getting soaked wasn't a big deal; luckily the stoller kept the babies dry.

Does he not have the sweetest face or what? I know I may be biased, but I have a feeling both he and his brother are going to be heartbreakers when they grow up.
I gotta give kudos to all you mothers out there. Taking care of babies is much more difficult on a 24-7 basis. I think my mom and I were more happy to see their parents than they were!
