finally Friday (on Saturday!)

Somedays work is enjoyable and other days not so much. I suppose this is the way it is with almost everyone. Thursday was super busy but luckily Friday was better.

We went to the Spring Street Studio art opening and found a Photo Booth last night. That's always a good thing.

And I've been more inspired to dress up lately. Just not inspired to actually take photos of the outfits. ;)

No rest for the weary

In anticipation of springing forward tomorrow, I woke up earlier than usual on a Saturday morning to get a quick cardio session instead of sleeping in. We have been back to working a couple Saturdays a month this year and while I love having the Monday off, going into the office on a weekend is never fun. But you gotta do what you gotta do!

finally Friday

This has been a very long week at work, mostly because of the added driving. We opened a satellite office up north, which requires an additional hour commute, 2 days per week, every other week.

Driving up and being there has been fine, but the drive home has been killing me. Been so tired every day! Complaining is not something I like to do a lot, but sometimes you gotta just vent. 

And although I am working on Saturday, we have some things planned this weekend that I am looking forward to. There's a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel...

It's only Wednesday and I feel like I should be done with the week! Yesterday afternoon was super busy at work; yet nothing significant was accomplished. Those kinds of days are frustrating to me but I am hoping to shake it off and have a better one today.

Finally Friday

I am traveling to Dallas this evening to work there on Saturday. Kind of a pain, but one benefit is to have a date with a dear girlfriend while I am there.


This photo has made me realized I need to break out of the matchy-matchy rut with this sweater and pair it with different colors. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This week tights were back in the rotation. Winter weather in Houston will always keep you guessing. Today it's rainy and dreary, which is a perfect day to wear scrubs.


I love knit tops that are have a bit of texture. They add a nice layer in cooler months and more visual interest to a simple outfit in warmer months.

This is a working weekend for me so I hope the rain keeps up. Nothing is more depressing than working on a sunny Saturday!

december daily | 15 - 17

I wanted to document our early morning habits this month. We are more productive at 5 AM than at 9 PM :)


On Friday we got together with our friends to go ice skating at Discovery Green in downtown Houston. I don't think I have skated since I was a teenager, so I enjoyed doing something different yet slightly familiar. Luckily no one broke any bones!


And Saturday was my last official holiday party - bowling with my work peeps. I am lucky I work with good people.

These last few pages were simple but photo heavy. My book is becoming so fat so I am keeping embellishments to a minimum.

Yesterday was definitely a full moon day at work. We were insanely busy all day but somehow felt like hardly anything productive got accomplished. I'm thinking this just must be one of those weeks! I will be working all weekend so I hope things calm down a bit. One thing I was grateful for: wearing boots!


This skirt is a definite departure from the usual silhouettes I choose, but I like how comfortable it is, even though it wrinkles if you so much look at it.

What goes around comes around

Last October I got the bad news that I was being laid off from my position of 7+ years. Not the best way to end the year. However, since then, I have traveled to India for 2 months, been to both American coasts, spents oodles of time with my nephews and generally been enjoying the time off, especially since work called me back part time in January. Today I am signing papers to be re-instated as if I never left. Corporate America - gotta love 'em.

I really have enjoyed working shorter weeks but I know in the long run going full-time will be better for me and the hubs, what with insurance, 401K, etc. Sigh. Sometimes it feels like feast or famine!

Anyways, now that the hubs and I are both gainfully employed for the first time in 2 years, I plan on keeping up my frugal shopping ways. I read a good post on how complete shopping bans are not good for someone who enjoys it as much as I do, but with a closet bursting at the seams, do I really need another pair of shoes (Hmmmm...that is a difficult question!)?

week in the life | friday

I seem to be taking less and less pictures as the week goes on. I am a creature of habit and tend to do the same things every day so sometimes it's hard to be creative!


I was so grateful today to have the hubs with me on the drive home; even more grateful that he drove (something that I think we both prefer!). I was also grateful that work wasn't very busy so I could take some snaps at the office! I was most grateful to be able to sleep in my own bed last night (which is why I slept in until 7 this morning!).

And of course no road trip is complete without a stop to Dairy Queen for a blizzard! These were not the shoes I wore to the office but otherwise everything else is the same.

week in the life | wednesday

Work days are more difficult to snap interesting pics. especially when it gets busy. I like to keep my work life and personal life as separate as possible. Yesterday got pretty crazy in the afternoon so I rewarded myself with a trip to Anthro (among other stores). I bought a skirt there in May and still hadn't worn it so decided to return it and pick up a few other things. I adore the pattern on the first dress I tried on, but the fit was all off - too tight up top and too loose on bottom, which is usually exactly the opposite on most things I try on. Guess what came home with me! I promise to debut them sooner rather than later.


I was too tired to take a proper outfit photo, so this will have to do. I tried on a few things at Crew for sizing but passed (even with extra 40% off!).
