project life 2013 | week 24
{June 9-15}
Yesterday was definitely a Monday. Hoping today is a better one!
title card
Almost halfway though the year...no stopping now!
full spread
I tried something new this week - basically took out as many black and white cards as I could find from my different core kits to use, added a little pink for color and went from there. I rather like this look.

Here lately I haven't been taking as many everyday photos. So I am trying to include a bit more writing.

I did steal an IG photo my sister took of the boys, since the ones I had weren't as exciting. And one notable event from last week? I got a new phone/camera. The upgrade to the 5 has been so worth it - so much faster and the camera is fabulous! (These photos of the layouts were all taken with the phone and I am much happier with the quality compared to those taken with the 4). I have to make a conscious effort to take out the big camera these days.Yesterday was definitely a Monday. Hoping today is a better one!

working wardrobe | what happened to the weekend?
top: Anthro / cardi: Target / skirt: Uniqlo / shoes: Jeffrey Campbell / sunnies: Dsquared / necklace: gift'd
This weekend went by in a whirlwind of activity and I could use another weekend to recover! Fortunately the work week will be shorter (unfortunately Friday is a work day for me, but I don't think we'll be super busy). I'm looking forward to spending some QT with the fam :)
We gave one of our friends a GC to the Apple store for his bday and he finally bought his new iPhone 5. I love the panoramic function on its camera - so fun!

project life | week 11
The week ending on March 17th was a full and busy one.
So I had lots of extra pages to add in between the weekly spread. Because our internet was down and our computer with it, the majority of my photos were edited and uploaded through my iPhone. I have only had my phone since October and seriously cannot imagine my life without it now.
I have loved taking 12 photos on the 12th of each month of 2012 so far.
Fisher, a.k.a. buddha baby, a.k.a. DD, turned one on the 17th so our new holiday is called St. Fisher's Day! (Home address of invite covered for privacy).
I enlarged his 12 month photo to 5x7 to add to the back of his party invitation. The striped tab includes some hidden journaling. DD really is one sweet baby.
Some photos from the party.
Joe's parents are so sweet to send us cards for almost every holiday. Now instead of having them pile up and then recycling them, I have an immediate place to put them!
My sister created this fun little page.
I created this simple scrapbook page to add some of the photos we took at our photobooth. I love that this project can include traditional scrapbooking as well.
The full spread with the inserts now on the right side.
The left side. If you care to look closely you can see what we have been up to and why things have been insanely busy around here.

New beginnings
sweater: Anthro
cords: AG via Anthro
boots: Nordstrom Rack, remix'd
earrings: Collignon Designs, gift'd&remix'd
sunnies: Dsqared,remix'd
scarf: India, remix'd
bag: Gucci, gift'd&remix'd
I am a bit embarrassed to say that even thought my One Little Word for 2012 is "LESS," the outfit that I am wearing here is all new. I couldn't resist these bright orange cords from Anthro during their 50% off-sale items sale, and of course I had to buy enough to receive free shipping. But I have kept to my word and taken 4 items out of my closet and into my donation bag.
I'm not sure how this happended but it's only the 2nd day of the year and I am already feeling a bit behind! I'm thinking this is going to be the year of iPhone blog photos, just to make my life a bit easier.

Welcome 2012!
I am happy to report that while we spent good times with our peeps last night, we didn't imbibe in too many adult beverages and are feeling pretty good this first day of the year.
I am starting my 5th year of doing a photo-a-day, but this year, for simplicity of life and creativity, my photos will be taking with my iPhone and posted through Instagram. Do you Instagram? If so, please come find me (eek2011)!

Christmas elves
Something about little ones make Christmas all the more special. These little elves were very helpful this year!
They were also very good and Santa brought them lots of presents.
They took to Uncle Joe very well.
I am so glad today is an official work holiday. I am not quite ready for the real world just yet. In fact, I may keep my tree lighted the rest of the week (but I am officially done with holiday music!).

Obsessed
Besides decorating the tree and celebrating the holiday season, I have also been obsessed with finding different photo apps.
There are so many out there with different capabilities that picking my favorite one has been difficult.
We woke up earlier than usual today and actually got a lot done. Two cups of coffee in the morning definitely help productivity.
I am hoping this to be a good month for yoga. I am making some progress on things I have been working on and don't want to jinx anything until I know for sure I can do them.
The weather changed from 70s to 50s today so it is actually beginning to feel a bit like Christmas.

Cutting out the middle man
sweater&tights: Gap, remix'd
skirt: J. Crew
shoes: Missoni for Target, remix'd
necklace: Jessica Elliott, remix'd
I bought this skirt last month with the gift card I won from Lisa and finally wore it to Thanksgiving brunch. I love its color, length, flowyness - just a perfect skirt!
I have found that after receiving an iPhone, I am less inclined to take photos with either my point-and-shoot or my SLR. I love that I have different editing capabilities with different apps, and I can instantly upload them to Flickr, Facebook, or wherever I want. This means less time I have to spend on our desktop. This also means I am a bit more lazy with my photo-of-the-day. I wasn't too inspired this week to take great photos.
What amuses me most about all this technology is that my favorite editing tools tend to be the ones that make the photos look old. So we use new tech to get old tech effects. Gotta love the irony of it all.

Happy Black Friday!
One good thing about working today is that it keeps me from being tempted to go shopping. I actually really hate physically shopping the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas because of the crowds. I am going to attempt all my holiday shopping online this year.
The hubs and I celebrated a very non-traditional day last night with our friend GJ. This was our first Turkey day as vegetarians and I was still as stuffed as usual.
H-town is not a bad city when you catch it at the right moment.
A glimpse of what I wore to brunch.
JR is my favorite cat in the world. He is so mellow.
My favorite boy in the world.
Have a safe rest of you weekend if you are off; I feel ya if you have to work this weekend!

The little iPhone that could
tank: Old Navy, remix'd
jeans: Uniqlo
shoes: 9West,remix'd
earrings: gift'd&remix'd
bag: Gucci, gift'd&remix'd
This is my first outfit photo taken with my iPhone, and, I must say, I am quite pleased with its quality. Of course it doesn't have the luscious bokeh of an SLR, but I rarely bust mine out for daily photos these days anyways. Taking a selfie with the iPhone is still a bit problematic though. I have a camera app that has a self timer; now I just need a mini tripod. Hmmmm, that may be going on my Christmas wish list!
This summery tank is slowly transitioning into a great layering piece. Of course with global warming and all, I don't expect much of a winter here in H-town, so layers may not be necessary anyway.

11.11.11
Today's date would seem like an auspicious day to me, but it turned out to be a normal, crazy Friday. I thought I would document it with 11 Instagram photos.

We always start our day with a nice big cup o' Joe.

One reason I like to wake up early even when I am not practicing yoga is to catch up on blogs and Facebook.

The hubs making some eggs for breakfast.

My morning drive to work.

From practically the moment I stepped into the office until about lunch it was non-stop, so no photos until then.

Catching up on charts.

My office is like a cave.

A selfie. Excuse the tired eyes, it's been a long day!

Yes, I wear Crocs, but only to yoga. They last forever.

The highway was surprisingly busy for early Friday evening. That white dot on the left side is the moon - so huge still tonight!

Our simple dinner of falafel "sandwiches" (really on corn tortillas, but who's counting?).
I love the old-timey feeling of these photos. Today was definitely a typical day in the life of eek! Taking photos at work is a bit weird - I spend so much time there yet rarely document those moments.
Happy Veteran's Day. My thoughts, prayers and thanks go to all the men and women putting themselves in harm's way to protect us.
