a little shop shop

Something about spring makes me want to shop. Maybe because I'm tired of my "winter" (used in quotes because who are we kidding, winter in Houston is balmy compared to most places up north) wardrobe and too lazy to get out my spring clothes (bad, I know).

A lot of it has to do with sales, sales everywhere! I love these style jeans and stalk them at Anthro.

And sometimes it's nice to treat yourself to some pretties. Especially when they are 40% off sale price (love those) and you have a gift card to use.

Seriously though, MUST.CLEAN.CLOSET. sometime in the near future...

getting crafty

Here lately I have been getting my crafty groove on.
#yesplease @amytangerine goodness!
Instead of shopping for clothes I have been shopping for scrappy goodness. I adore and am inspired by amy tan, which is why I want my grubby paws on everything she makes.

Newest obsession: I can't sew but I can stitch! Thanks @amytangerine
Catching up on my Project Runway tonight I busted out her new embroidery stencils. Love them!

This one took a project runway episode but I love it! Definitely going into #projectlife thanks again @amytangerine #amytangerine
I can't sew but I can stitch! Love this camera motif and it will be seen on a Project Life layout near you.

what to do during a long lunch

Untitled
top: Anthro / skirt: J.Crew / shoes: Tory Burch / necklace: Collingnon Designs / chains: Calypso for Target

Still enjoying our time in Austin. Not much to report except that I am TRYING my best not to shop too much (it's hard when the office is near a few outdoor malls, lunch hours are actually 2 hours long and a credit card burning a hole in my pocket!).

colored and neon bottoms

My grand plans to post on outfit everyday this week fell a bit to the wayside. I have been wearing outfits inspired by the challenge but didn't have a good opportunity to photograph them when working out of town.

One (dis)advantage to working in Dallas is that the mall is 1 minute from our office and when I had nothing to do I had to stop by, mainly to check out the H&M but also to check out the summer sales going on.

Untitled
Neimans was having a giant shoe sale and I fell in love with these Valentino kitten heels, but, as they still cost the amount of a plane ticket, I let them go. My Jeffrey Campbell bow heels are slightly reminiscent of these shoes anyways, although not quite as fabulous. Sigh.

Untitled
I did stock up on some practical items at VS.

Untitled
And almost didn't walk into J.Crew but I am glad I did because they were having an extra 30% off their sale items. I had been eyeing their neon pink pencil skirt but didn't want to drop $110, but at less then $30 each I came home with that one and a bright purple one. So my JC and VS purchases were still less than the cost of the shoes and I felt a bit less guilty shopping. These summer sales are killing me and my wallet...

Pseudo-ban

05.14.12
top: LoL for Target / pants: Gap / shoes: Old Navy / earrings: gift'd

I have both consciously and unconsciously not been shopping a lot this year. Consciously by cutting down on the amount of style blogs I read, especially those with an emphasis on wearing everything new, new, new as well as those skewed towards certain stores, as well as deliberately deleting all store sale emails before I am even tempted.

pink floral halter 02
My lack of new clothes have probably been contributing to my lack of motivation to blog about the same ole stuff, but really I like to see how other people wear the same clothes in different ways, so why shouldn't I do the same? I love the print on this top and, of course, the color. Apparently I need to wear it with something other than black, though. My favorite look of the bunch is the pink on pink. Any suggestions?

05.16.12
top: Loft / skirt: Old Navy / shoes: Geox / earrings&bag: gift'd / belt: Anthro

The unconscious shopping ban has been due to our big move. We have been so busy packing, unpacking and decorating as well as enjoying the new place that I haven't really had that much time to shop anyways. And nothing with stop you from buying more sh!t than having to pack it all up!

new belt
However, I couldn't resist the call of the Anthro birthday discount as well as their bi-annual "big" sale. I wasn't super impressed with what they had, but I did pick up a few basics, a fun top as well as this belt.

Raise your hand if you are ready for the weekend already. I've got both mine up!

My shopping process

I thought I would share a bit of what goes on in my little head when I buy new clothes.

IMG_1921
So I went shopping a few weeks ago (or was it over a month ago...time seems to be slipping away so fast this year!) and fell in love with this dress at Banana. Didn't pull the trigger because it was new and not on sale yet.

03.06.12
dress: Loft / cardi: Gap / shoes: Jeffrey Campbell / sunnies: Dsquared

I'm glad I didn't buy it, because shortly thereafter I realized I already had a navy polka dotted shift dress with pockets in my closet. But also realized this is probably why I loved it so.

dress: Banana, new / cardi: Target / shoes: Old Navy / earrings&necklace: Collignon Designs

A few weeks later, however, I did return to Banana and found the same dress in a different pattern, which did come home with me, thanks to a sale, rewards points and gift card. The silhouette is slightly different from the Loft dress and is just so flattering, I couldn't resist. Spring is the season when I have the hardest time not shopping because I love bright spring colors.

My uniform these days seem to be a cardi thrown over a dress. I have a feeling that sweater days are almost over here in Houston so I better take advantage while I can!

02.06.12

all items remix'd
dress: Old Navy
cardi: Missoni for Target
leggings: Uniqlo
booties: Target
earrings: Collignon Designs, gift'd

This week looks like we are actually going to be having some cooler temps so I am going to take advantage by wearing as many tights and boots as I can before having to put them away for the spring and eternal summer. And I finally got the damn zipper on this cardi to zip up so I could wear it more like a dress, although I do have one underneath it as well.

Spring is my favorite time of year for life as well as for fashion. Resisting all the new stuff in stores is going to be difficult, I can tell already, because color seems to be still part of all the trends and I love color! I am still obsessed with finding a pair of decently priced and decently fitting bright pink jeans. Wish me luck :)

Long and lean

11.09.11
sweater: J. Crew
pants: Gap, remix'd
shoes: Via Spiga, remix'd
earrings: Collingnon Designs, gift'd
bracelets: India, remix'd

This sweater was one of my purchases with the gift card I won from Lisa. Thanks again!

navy flare pants 02
As much as I like skinny pants, nothing in the world can make a girl feel leaner than a good pair of long, slightly boot cut pants, especially if she has muscular thighs, like me. Gap still makes great fitting pants, even if everything else they has is a bit blah. I wish they would take a cue from J.Crew and make some brighter clothes!

And speaking of skinny pants (well, jeans in this case), I made the mistake of going into Anthro yesterday and tried on a pair of AG skinnies and JBrand skinnies and loved both.

Do I really need a pair of lilac AND pink jeans? Probably not. Do I want them? Of course. Decisions decisions!

Give me Liberty

top: LoL for Target
pants: J. Crew
shoes: 9West
sunnies: Dsquared
earrings: Collingnon Designs, gift'd
belt: Gap
cuff: Tiffany's, gift'd

I was inspired by this outfit to wear this shirt that I so loved from last year. I really need...ok, want...some brightly colored bottoms (like turquoise or yellow) to go with them.

I am also looking forward to the new Missoni for Target line. And have you seen the September J.Crew catalog? I die. Sigh. Too many clothes, not enough time or money!

Only Wednesday?

08.15.11
all items remix'd
dress: Anthro
shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
sunnies: Dsquared
necklace: M+O
belt: Ann Taylor

I kept thinking yesterday was Wednesday. This is definitely going to be a long week!

I stopped by Anthro yesterday and tried on a few things. This dress is very similar to the one I am wearing...I love the fit and the color but would it be overkill to own them both?

week in the life | wednesday

DSC_9239DSC_9212DSC_9227IMG_5587DSC_9231DSC_9232IMG_5589IMG_5590IMG_5602IMG_5595IMG_5596IMG_5597IMG_5598IMG_5599IMG_5600IMG_5604DSC_9240DSC_9244DSC_9245
Work days are more difficult to snap interesting pics. especially when it gets busy. I like to keep my work life and personal life as separate as possible. Yesterday got pretty crazy in the afternoon so I rewarded myself with a trip to Anthro (among other stores). I bought a skirt there in May and still hadn't worn it so decided to return it and pick up a few other things. I adore the pattern on the first dress I tried on, but the fit was all off - too tight up top and too loose on bottom, which is usually exactly the opposite on most things I try on. Guess what came home with me! I promise to debut them sooner rather than later.

I was too tired to take a proper outfit photo, so this will have to do. I tried on a few things at Crew for sizing but passed (even with extra 40% off!).

Siete: Happy Summer!

06.21.11
7/30
all items remix'd except for necklaces
9+5+11
sunnies as a headband: Dsquared
earrings: gift'd&remix'd
single strand: India
rest: Calypso for Target

I love having longer days in the summer but I wonder if the extended light is making it more difficult for me to sleep at night. I usually love crawling in bed and falling asleep almost immediately but it hasn't been happening this week. That's why I forced myself to get up early this morning. Hopefully that will wear me out!

You probably can't even tell I went to my hair stylist yesterday! Actually, to be more specific, I went to my colorist. He evened out the color and got rid of my roots. My hair is still lighter than my natural color but I definitely prefer the caramel brown over the really light color. Since I want to grow out some of the layers, they suggested I be patient and wait a bit longer.

Finally, I wanted to try out the pencil skirt in a more casual fashion, to extend the wearability of said item. I think I succeeded, and it's actually more comfortable than a mini to me. (And I have cheated a little bit on the no-shopping thing. I went to Target last week and saw a few Calypso necklaces on sale so I couldn't resist.) Yeah for remixing!

{Hmmm, seems like I had a lot to say this morning. Maybe I just have a lot on my mind, which is why I can't sleep!}

Sticking to the basics

05.24.11
all items remix'd
top: Anthro
pants: Gap
shoes: Geox
sunnies: Dsquared
earrings: gift'd
necklace: Collingnon Designs, gift'd

Traveling for work can be a pain, especially when deciding what to wear. My outfits the next week and a half will be a bit basic and boring because I'm just not organized enough to plan "cool" work clothes.

red rose is a rose top 01
This top is a favorite of mine purchased with my Anthro birthday discount last year. I picked up a few things this year, but have not really been inspired that much by anything.

Speaking of sales, the Nordstrom half-yearly sale starts today and some shoes I have been eyeing are 30% off. I may have to buy a pair!

Do you Calypso?

IMG_4218
I was close to the first person at Target today. The line is actually quite scrumptious in person.

IMG_4220
This blue tunic dress was cute, but the small was a bit tight around my shoulders. It had pockets too!

IMG_4219
This was the dress I was looking for. Love.

IMG_4221
Cute tunic, but again, I must have giant shoulders because it was a bit snug across.

IMG_4222
Ok, so this was actually part of the Go! International dress line (Jovovich-Hawk), but it was on sale, so I brought it in with me. Fun dress. Me likely.

So guess what I brought home with me?
