Is it weird that the hubs and I are in bed before 9 PM and up before 5 AM? I swear we are not grandparents, we just like to sleep! We rarely watch TV these days; in fact the only shows we watch on a regular basis are Modern Family and The Soup. The Soup keeps us up-to-date on pop culture so we feel like we know what's going on, even if we don't!

I thought these 2 green outfits would look good in the same post, as they are color I don't typically gravitate to. Pink will always be my signature color, but I like the share the love with other colors in the rainbow.

I am thankful that this is a non-working weekend and we really don't have anything big planned. I could use a nice, long weekend full of nothing.

While many people are celebrating the change in seasons this month, here in Texas we are just hoping for a bit of cooler weather. Like maybe in the 80s, please?!? I think in the gauge in my car has measured 100 degrees at least briefly every day this week. So my dreams of wearing layers and boots and the like are just dreams and not even close to becoming reality.

What goes around comes around

Last October I got the bad news that I was being laid off from my position of 7+ years. Not the best way to end the year. However, since then, I have traveled to India for 2 months, been to both American coasts, spents oodles of time with my nephews and generally been enjoying the time off, especially since work called me back part time in January. Today I am signing papers to be re-instated as if I never left. Corporate America - gotta love 'em.

I really have enjoyed working shorter weeks but I know in the long run going full-time will be better for me and the hubs, what with insurance, 401K, etc. Sigh. Sometimes it feels like feast or famine!

Anyways, now that the hubs and I are both gainfully employed for the first time in 2 years, I plan on keeping up my frugal shopping ways. I read a good post on how complete shopping bans are not good for someone who enjoys it as much as I do, but with a closet bursting at the seams, do I really need another pair of shoes (Hmmmm...that is a difficult question!)?

I am pack rat by nature. Have always been, much to my mother's chagrin. So naturally the amount of clothes I own has increased steadily, year by year. Unfortunately my closet space has not grown with it!


I am the worse kind of clothes shopper there is. I don't make a list of holes in my closet I need to fill; I buy things because they speak to me (or did at some point). And somehow I make it all work.

This shirt is only okay to me: I have only worn it a handful of times since aquiring it and can seem to only style it with black or white bottoms. The keyhole neckline makes it hard to layer. Yet I can't seem to put it in the Goodwill pile. What do you think?

these platforms! They are knock-offs of the Miu Mius that were popular last year. I have also realized that no matter how much I try to resist, I will not be able to stop wearing heels altogether (so that I don't tighten my hamstrings too much, which can make my asana practice suffer). I am just going to have to alternate with flats.

As I was looking at my outfits from the past few days, they look almost identical. Now that the temperature is rising, wearing layers is not much of an option. One good thing about being home? Showing my shoulders is ok!

Finding a good spot to take outfit photos on the road is sometimes a bit tricky for me. I only brought my point-and-shoot this week; just couldn't be bothered with the big camera right now. Right now, all I keep asking myself is, "Is it Friday yet?"

I have decided that Thursdays will be designated to wearing heels. I used to wear them all the time, but since becoming more serious about my yoga practice, I found that they tighten up my hamstrings and make certain poses more difficult. Since I don't have practice until Friday evening, I figured one day won't hurt. I was smart, however, and brought a back-up pair of flats with me to work, which I changed into after lunch. Anyone who says heels are more comfy than flats is lying (I know, I used to feel that way!).


This dress has gotten a lot of use for work, but I find I don't wear it in my "normal life" because I feel it's a bit too conservative. Any suggestions on how to "hip" it up would be welcome.

I am finally wearing my new shoes from Monday. I have this thing about new items...I am loathe to wear them because they are so new and shiny. That's why the usually sit in my closet before their big debut. Is that weird?


As you might have guessed, this top is a favorite of mine. Light and comfortable? Check! Ruffles? Check! Pink? Double check!

Today is another working weekend for me...boo! Hope yours is a better one!
