I am blogging from my hotel room in Austin this morning. Hopefully this will be my last work road trip for a while! The last photo is of the jewelry I wear everyday (unless I swap out the earrings). The watch is one of the few remaining things I have from my ex-bf many many moons ago. The earrings and round ring are gifts from the sis and the engagement ring/wedding bad are from the hubs (hopefully that was obvious!).

week in the life | monday

One of my passions other than deciding what to wear in the morning is photography/memory keeping. I am participating in ali's week in the life project for the first time this year. Like Ali, I am going to be documenting and photographing this week and putting the album together next week.


Like I mentioned previously, the hubs likes to wake up at the crack of dawn to catch the early morning flight home so we have the rest of the day to get caught up.


Nothing like going home sweet home.

Week in photos

Being a veggie sometimes makes you more creative in your meal choices. We made a tofu scramble for dinner, recipe made up as we go along.

Still recovering

The hubs and I spent the last 5 days hanging out with his family, eating too many Munchkins, practicing yoga, running a 5+K, watching the Tour de France, shopping just a little, getting the wrong directions from the TomTom, and taking in a Sox game at Fenway.

We took his family and a couple friends to the game. We were in the right field standing room only section and stayed the entire time (definitely a first) so needless to say, even though this was a relaxing vacation, I am still tired.

To top it all off, we woke up at 4 AM this morning to catch the 5:30 flight from Logan to IAH, so we could be home in time to blog by 10:30 AM :) Stay tuned for our regularly scheduled programming.

A bright alternative

I always seem to be at a loss for what to wear after doing the 30 remix challenge. Sometimes limiting your choices can make a decision much easier and having my entire closet to choose from was a bit overwhelming. I decided to take the easy route and wear a dress.

One thing I noticed is that I kept my footwear choices over the last 30 outfits fairly neutral: in the blacks, grays and browns. I definitely would like to get a pair of colorful flat sandals for the summer to spice things up a bit. I typically wear this dress with more neutral shoes but this bright coral pair is a fun alternative, I think.

So here is everything I wore:


to make 30 outfits!


Just in case you didn't notice, I actually only wore 27 items and made 30 outfits. I am patting myself on the back right now. I do feel like I cheated a little in that I wore the same dress 4 times, but with different shoes and accessories each time.

I really enjoyed the picking-my-clothes-as-I-go method because I am really a terrible planner and this made me feel like I had more options. My goal was to wear every time at least 3 times but I ran out of outfits before I had time to wear everything that much. This is why I decided not to add more clothes and just keep remixing.

The only shopping I did was for some accessories, most of which were on sale at Target and would be gone if I waited. So another pat on my back :)

My favorite outfit was probably #9 - comfy yet stylish and still showed off my best assets. This time around I have discovered that shorts can be stylish with a little bit of thought. And I think I will want to do another challenge sooner rather than later. Yes I am weird like that.

So now it's time for a break. I have plans to post my vacation outfits; however being in Maine with the fam is not usually the time we dress up. We will do some shopping however and since the challenge is over, I think I may splurge a little!
