more weekend please!

I am a bit sleepy today although I didn't do much of anything. Maybe that's why! This Memorial Day has definitely been the most mellow in a long time, which is fine by me! On Saturday morning I went to the gym for 50 minutes of cardio followed by yoga. We had a sub yoga instructor and while it was definitely not my favorite class and I considered leaving I'm glad I didn't because 1) I felt bad since more than half the class left before it was over and 2) I was still a little sore from missing yoga over 1 week and then going full force in mysore so it helped stretch me out without pushing me too hard.

We met Marc, Greg and Johnny (visiting from Chicago) at Baby Barnaby's for bfast with a dessert pancake before heading downtown to watch Termintor Salvation. While the movie was no where near T2, it was entertaining and introduced me to this hottie:His name is Sam Worthington and he played Marcus. He was the reason the movie was even tolerable for me ;)!

Later Sat night we met for bday drinks and wine at Boheme, a cute little wine bar down the road from us. I got some fabu earrings from the boys and Darah.I also wore my new TB gladiator sandals (bday present for myself!)We ended the night with drinks and photos at Kirt and Mike'sI was a little tired Sunday morning but able to drag into yogi. Still a little sore so my practice was a bit draggin' but, as always, I was glad I went. Went over to Tingaling's where Boom cooked breakfast - eggs and delicious gingerbread pancakes! (photos in other camera...still to come)

Later on Sunday afternoon, we got an invite to K+M's pool so of course we accepted! Pool time wore me out and I was in bed by 10!Today I made it to yoga and had an excellent practice. I actually practiced 4 days in a row (Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon!) and am quite proud of myself. We met Greg, Johnny and Chris at 1308 for lunch (ceviche - yum!). The boys went to another pool party but I stayed home, at a cupcake and caught up on Lost (OMG - next season is going to be amazing!). Our pizza just arrived so I am off for dinner. Back laters!

ahhhh

I am looking forward to this nice long weekend of doing much of nothing. Well, maybe something, but nothing major. Maybe a movie, some wine with friends and lots of relaxation. That's what I talkin' about!

Boo!

So my favorite didn't win AI, but my consolation is that he can put out a rockin' album and not have to sing that god-awful contrived winner song!

I have really been bad about posting lately. Just between being busy and uninspired, I guess! One thing to do for my 38th year (AACCK!) is to post at least 4x/week. (I really would like to everyday, I just don't think it's possible for me right now!). We'll see how it goes!

Now I am off to edit and post some Milan photos!

We're back!

...after a nightmarish flight home. Milan to Newark went off without a hitch. But our plane, which was supposed to leave Newark around 4:30 pm didn't end up leaving until 7 or 7:30 so we didn't land until 10:30 and home after 11. Ugh! Now it's time to get back into the swing of things...boo!

Ciao!

We are on our second day in Milan and it has been fabulous! I just woke up from a short nap...we are pretty much over the jetlag, but walking around all day will make you pretty tired!

We started our journey on Tuesday morning with a flight from IAH to Newark. After a 3 hour layover we left NJ around 6:30 pm for the overnight to Milan. We tried to sleep as much as we could on the plane ride but it was spotty at best!

After we landed, we took the 45 minute train into the city and 5 minute cab ride to Joey's awesome apartment. He is located right next to the large park and walking distance to pretty much everything. Milan is a fairly small city and easy to get around. Linh arrived about 2 hours after us so after some freshening up we went for some lunch (pizza, of course) and dessert (gelato, of course). We walked around the park before heading back for a quick nap.

Joey worked yesterday so after waking up Joe went for a quick run and I took more photos at the park. After Joey came home, he took us out for drinks, dinner and dessert. We went to this local resturant for fish and steak and another yummy gelato place.

Today we did the touristy things: toured the Duomo and piazza, saw Da Vinci's The Last Supper, which was totally amazing and kudos for Joey for making us a reservation and window shopped at the Galleria (unfortunately stuff here is more $$ than in the States so no purchases have been made...yet!).

Milan is a very cool, chic city. People here seem to have more style - it's very inspiring! Tomorrow we will be headed out to Lake Como - can't wait!

Sleeping is underrated

At the beginning of the week (Mon-Wed) I was doing good with getting up early and working out in the morning. But lost some steam yesterday because we went out for Richie's bday and today, well, because sleeping feels so good! I can console myself that at least I am going to yoga this afternoon!

Happy Birthday Richie

We celebrated my dear friend Richie's bday at Dolce Vita last night.
It's a great restaurant; my only gripe is that with a large group of peeps (more than 6), you end up at a very long table and don't get to chat with everyone very easily and it's hard to take photos! After the dinner festivities some of us went to Guava and Blur, but I came home early to sleep. Alas, I still didn't get motivated enough to work out this morning (and I only had 2 glasses of wine plus a couple sips of chocolate martini!) but I figure running and yoga yesterday can make up for the missed work out.

When am I going to Paris???

I have seen the Great Wall. I have seen prayer flags on the outskirts of Tibet. I have seen elephants, zebra, hippos and lionesses on the plains of Africa. I have zip-lined in the rain forest of Costa Rica. I have enjoyed the hot springs of Japan. I have seen the Danube and Nile Rivers. I have been to the tower of London and seen Ann Frank's house in Amsterdam. I have traveled to Taiwan and Thailand. I have biked on the islands of Greece. I have seen the Collesium in Rome and eaten more gelato than I can remember.

But I have never seen this:{In my mind I know I am making a bigger deal of this and it's probably more hype than anything, but I really want to sit at a cafe in Paris and enjoy the view!}

Thing I love...

-shopping
-shoes (especially platforms!)
-shopping for shoes
-shopping online
-pink
-patent leather
-"designer" lines for less
-Target

Put them all together and what do you have? Things that make me happy!I have been stalking her line since it came out but couldn't find what I wanted in store so I bought it off the computer!I couldn't decide which pair I liked betterso I bought them both! {Don't worry I won't wear the two different styles together!} Looks like her normal line can run anywhere from $150-$250 so at $35 a pop I love them even more!

Boston!

While the hubs was running his heart out at the Boston marathon, I was waiting for my car window to get fixed. I drove Danny and Marc to the Highland village for a little shopping. We rolled the windows down because the weather was so beautiful, but unfortunately the back seat passenger window wouldn't roll back up! It turned out to be a broken regulator and was fixed this morning but set me back $300. Good thing I didn't buy anything yesterday!

One thing I am starting to realize about myself is that I am a creature of routine. I imagine the way I want my day to go and go from there. When something comes along to interrupt my routine (i.e. car in shop for all of the morning) then it's hard for me to do what I missed (well, I did do the groceries because we literally have no food in the house, but I missed morning yoga, and couldn't motivate myself to go this evening). At least I got a little scrappin' done and cleaned the house for Mom K's arrival this evening.

The weather around here has been almost perfect (almost because it's starting to warm up again today). We spent yesterday at Kirt and Mike's pool instead of the museum because it was just too beautiful to be inside!

Time management

As in, I am not very good at it. I have all these idease of things that I want to do swirling in my head, but I'm just not very good at the execution. I really need to spend less time on the computer looking at ideas and more time doing them! Like Nike says, Just Do It!

This weekend will be a working one (boo!) but I shouldn't really complain because it's really the first full Saturday I have worked since March 7th. That's over 1 month! And since I will be in big D next weekend I will have only worked 1 weekend this month. 3 weeks of vacation really is a good thing!

Caught up

Eek...I can't believe it's been almost a week since I last blogged! Seriously losing some mojo here!

So what's been going on? The same ole same ole, I suppose. Thurs and Fri were regular work/work out days. On Saturday we ran and went to yoga at the Met. I like her class because it's still vinyasa yoga but we do different poses from my usual ashtanga. I really need to work on my balancing poses like half-moon cause I really suck at them!

For lunch I met Tingaling and Boom at Ruggles Green. And yay, nothing was forgotten and the order was not gotten wrong. Boom's parents are visiting next week so no craft Sunday yet again!

Joe and I went to the Morrissey concert at Jones Hall Saturday night. I am sad to report it was only ok and we left after about an hour. He only played a couple songs we knew and everything else sounded the same!{self portrait taken as we were leaving the show}
Sunday was Easter and we attended a party called Bunnies on the Bayou, which raises $$ for various AIDS charities, but really is just an excuse to be outside and drink! It stormed for about 1 hour around noon but then the sky cleared up and it turned out to be a beautiful day! And that is proof the God loves the gays!{we are "strays:" straights who love gays :)}Marc took yesterday off so we played all afternoon. Richard, me and him stopped by KL to visit DWe then went to Rice Village to shop and enjoy the beautiful day. I only bought a couple books are half-price, but have my eye on a couple bright pink items at my favorite store: The Gap.
Today is the start of another long week (boo - half to work this Sat! and missing Joe run Boston marathon next week!). I am actually going to help a friend learn how to use her new camera tonight. As I am no expert I am not sure what she really wants to learn, but I will do my best to help!

Annoyed

I think I may have to shell out the buck fifty to watch Adam Lambert on AI because the show ran long and the DVR was not smart enough record the end of the show. I heard even Simon gave him a standing O. I saw a short clip on Itunes, he sang Tear for Fears "Mad World," which is not my favorite song by them but the clip looked amazing. I guess if this is all I can complain about then life isn't so bad.

Crazy weather

This morning it was like 41 degrees outside? WTF? Our heater wasn't working last night so our house got nice and chilly. Luckily it seems to be warming up again. Somehow I don't think being too cold will be much of an issue in the next few months!

In other unrelated news, last night our toaster actually caught the bread ON FIRE. Another WTF? Needless to say, I guess it's time for a new toaster!

Giddy

We were pretty slow this morning at work and this afternoon was going to be even slower, so I was able to sneak out early! I am so giddy I don't know what to do with myself! I think I am going to clean the computer desk and the scrapbook...yay!

I need to stop smiling

Joe raced a half-ironman triathlon in Galveston today. This is the 4th or 5th year (at least) that he has participated in this race. I got lots of good photos which I will post sometime but right now I need to figure out how to smile without getting all those crinkle lines around my eyes! Ugh, getting older stinks!

What happened?

Last night I took Marc and Jason to an EL event my sis was helping to host.It was quite fun with lots of good food, wine and company.I also had the opportunity to meet lots of Tinger's friends in H-town, which I enjoyed. Unfortunately too many glasses of wine led to much goofiness. And then led us to Meteor where we had a shot of something blue, which can never be good.I did enjoy hanging with my boysBut before midnight I was ready to call it quits. Marc drove me home to sleep it off.

It is now almost 3 in the afternoon and my head is still a bit achy but I am no worse for the wear. Next time I need to eat something before I start drinking!

Bayou City Arts Festival

So this past Saturday Ting, John, Mom and I attended the Bayou City Arts Festival at memorial park.
We did quite a bit of walking - probably a mile from where we parked to the festival, a mile looking at art and a mile back! We didn't make any purchases but we did see some fun stuff
We only saw a couple artists whose work we would seriously contemplate buying (Roger Disney and Ray Phillips) but it was a great day to be outside. Blue skies, not a cloud in sight and no humidity. Gotta take advantage of these beautiful spring Houston days while we can!

QFT

Mom was in town for almost a week! We had a great time. Makes me realize what is really important in life...family!{I will update soon with more stories of her visit, but it is almost time for bed so here is just an old photo back in the day}
