Wearing a lot
dress: H&M
cardi&belt: Gap
shoes: Charles David
earrings: gift'd
necklace: Collingnon Designs
Pink and red items always seem to photograph extremely vibrantly, almost more bright than they really are. This cardi, however, is just as bright in person as it is in photos.
It is the perfect layering item for Houston weather.
Happy hump day!

Reaquainted
all items remix'd
top: Gap
skirt: Old Navy
shoes: Charles David
earrings: gift'd
necklace&tights: Loft
belt: Gap
I am slowly getting reaquainted with my closet. After wearing pretty casual clothes over the last two months, I am finally getting to accessorize!
This $15 skirt has definitely been a workhorse for me. At some point I feel like I should invest in something more substantial, but this will do for now.

shoes: Charles David, remix'd
earrings: James Avery, remix'd
I'm glad the worst week ever is finally over and the weekend is here.
3 things for today:
1. We're going on another mini-vacay to Austin tomorrow! Nothing like a change of scenery for a fresh perspective.
2. No work for 3 whole days.
3. Cupcakes :)
I love this cardi and have to be careful I don't wear it everyday this fall. Have a fantastic weekend!

A bit stressed
Yesterday I received some unfortunate new relating to staffing at work. We had to let someone go. I am not completely surprised, but it's still not fun. Needless to say, this will make things at work a bit more chaotic over the next few weeks.

This skirt is another Old Navy cheapie but goodie.
I think I am starting to understand why having good basics are so important. They get worn all the time, they don't go out of style and they are easy to wear!

Could it be?
I can feel a coolness in the air this morning. I'm sure it's just a tease and it'll hot and humid later on today, but fall is coming, I can feel it!

shirt: Express, old
skirt: Old Navy, remix'd
shoes: Charles David, remix'd
earrings: gift'd&old
necklace: Loft, remix'd
belt: Gap, remix'd
I decided to go classic and simple today. Work may be a bit busy and I wanted to be comfortable. This shirt is years old; I haven't worn it in ages but since it's a classic shape (surprising since it's from Express) I will probably still get many years of wear from it!

That time of year again
all items remix'd
top: NY+Co
tank: Gap

Sorry for the haziness in the photo...the humidity in the air kept fogging up my camera lens. The rain has been constant since yesterday and whatever it has brought in is wrecking havoc with my sinuses and causing major allergies. It always seems to happen at the beginning of September. Ugh.

Happy September
shoes: Charles David, remix'd
earrings: gift'd&remix'd
This is one of my NYC purchases. I thought it was pretty cool and conservative for H&M and I liked the military-inspired vibe. I thought I would add a touch on animal print for some interest :)
I am glad this is a short week. Just 3 days to go!

My argument for shopping
On why fashion isn't frivolous: If you feel good in your clothes, you feel better about yourself. For me, feeling better about myself puts me in a better mood. Outwardly, that is reflected by smiling more and being a better person in general. And I know I always want to be the best I can be. So bring on the sales!

I am feeling especially fabulous and fierce today (two overused words referring to fashion-y stuff, but I still love them!). Good hair days always rule. I finally got a pair of slim black pants and I love the proportions of this pair from the Gap. Overcast cloudy days rule for taking better remix photos!

I love the ruffle-y goodness of this top from Ann Taylor, which is why I bought it in 2 colors!

And it's just cool enough for me to wear this trench I got from F21 in NYC last fall. I think it's going to be a good day!

This last photo is a gratuitous shot of my dear nephew, who has discovered his hands. Apparently they taste yummy. He is getting cuter by the minute!
