We had a very short weekend filled with yoga, food and driving. I need another day to get caught up with regular errands but unfortunately that's not happening.

I have had these jeans for years and love them. I hope I will love them forever!

This tank is another layering top with fun texture. Now off to decide what to wear today...

A quick trip

Blogging from the road and from the iPhone this early morning so it's bit of an experiment. The hubs and I are in Austin today to practice am yoga with Kino McGregor and take a class with her in the pm. While it's not quite India, we are looking forward to practicing in a crowded room with lots of sweaty bodies!

This time last year

{Warning: Post is photo and memory heavy}

A long plane trip was taken.

The last piece of meat was eaten.

Landed!
A solo journey was initiated.

Dear friends were appreciated.

Bucket showers were used.

The road was shared.

The love for yoga was grown.

Lifelong friendships were created.

Many coconuts were drank.

The solo journey became a duo.

I can't believe it's been a year since I left for India! It almost feels like a dream to me now. The trip was definitely so amazing but I hesitate to say it was the trip of a lifetime because I AM going to return one day. Not sure when that will be but it will happen. Some friends are already back and I am so happy for them and am with them in spirit.

My yoga practice is definitely stronger this year and I think practicing at the shala helped me to learn patience and humility, things I still need to work on. Joe and I are starting a new adventure next month; I will update when it happens!

This week tights were back in the rotation. Winter weather in Houston will always keep you guessing. Today it's rainy and dreary, which is a perfect day to wear scrubs.

I love knit tops that are have a bit of texture. They add a nice layer in cooler months and more visual interest to a simple outfit in warmer months.

This is a working weekend for me so I hope the rain keeps up. Nothing is more depressing than working on a sunny Saturday!

On cool days (I hesitate to say cold because this has seriously been the mildest winter ever), I like to wear turtlenecks to keep myself warm. I think I am the only person in the world who does, but I don't mind. I have always walked to the beat of a different drummer (I like to think, at least!).

This is my favorite outfit from this week. I am trying to break out of the top/cardi/skirt/boots combination rut I have been in lately and this colorblocked sweater is doing the trick.

iSmile | project life edition

What is making me smile a lot these days is being creative, so I thought I would share the process of how my Project Life weekly pages comes together.

week 05 progress: gather photos
I typically gather and edit photos in Photoshop on our desktop computer throughout the week and print them out either at Walgreens or CVS (wherever I have a coupon, although Walgreens service is faster). I don't use all the photos I print but I like to have lots to choose from.

week 05 progress: placing photos
Then I decide which page protector I want to use (I bought the big set with multiple types of protectors, although I think I will probably stick to only 1-2 choices next time). I cut up the photos and find which journaling cards I want to use. Some are from the Project Life kit, others are freebies I have found here and there while surfing.

week 05 progress: rounding corners and gluing stuff down
Once I am happy with where everything is placed, I glue the photos when they need to be glued and round every corner.

week 05 progress: journaling
The best part about keeping up each week is the memories of what happened are fresh and I have lots to write about. I have also been directly adding journaling to photos in PS as well. {For the record, I am not a leftie, but this was a self taking with the iPhone and for whatever reason got flipped without me realizing it}

week 05 progress: creative mess
I don't have my own dedicated space in which to create so I make do wherever we have room. When all is said and done, my creative mess usually spreads itself out.

Week 5 finished spread
The finished product! This is week 5.

Week 5 left side
The left side.

Week 5 right side
The right side. I want to include at least 1 piece of ephemera from the week in each spread as well as make sure the hubs is included more. It would help if he would take more photos himself (are you reading this Joe?)!

This is just so much fun and I love capturing everyday slices of our life.

dress: Old Navy
cardi: Missoni for Target
leggings: Uniqlo
booties: Target
earrings: Collignon Designs, gift'd

This week looks like we are actually going to be having some cooler temps so I am going to take advantage by wearing as many tights and boots as I can before having to put them away for the spring and eternal summer. And I finally got the damn zipper on this cardi to zip up so I could wear it more like a dress, although I do have one underneath it as well.

Spring is my favorite time of year for life as well as for fashion. Resisting all the new stuff in stores is going to be difficult, I can tell already, because color seems to be still part of all the trends and I love color! I am still obsessed with finding a pair of decently priced and decently fitting bright pink jeans. Wish me luck :)

After quitting the cleanse, the rest of the weekend was fabulous. Without going into the minutia here, we had an extremely productive Sunday with good errands, good work done around the house, good food :) and good friends.

And reason #432 that I love my hubs: He enjoys the halftime show with Madonna more than he enjoys the game.

Cleanse update

For the anonymous posted who asked me not to do the cleanse, your wish has been granted. At the end of day 5 both Joe and I decided to throw in the towel. Drinking nothing but spicy lemonade all day is NOT a fun endeavor and is leaving us both hungry and cranky. I feel that 5 days was really enough for me and my body is fairly flushed out. I am currently drinking some orange juice that we froze a few days ago so it's more of a slushie, and nothing has tasted sweeter.
