iSmile

February 12 layouts
I created 12 more scrapbook pages/mini books in February. I love playing with photos, paper and glue.

This boy has the longest eyelashes ever! And he is walking now!

This boy has the sweetest giggle, especially when he is being mischievous.

What things made you smile this week?

bobble head

03.01.12
dress: J.Crew / cardi: Loft / shoes: Charles David / earrings: JewelMint / cuff: gift'd

My outfit photos taken by the hubs always crack me up because I look like a bobble head - big ole noggin and little tiny legs. Is this how all tall people view people who come below their neck?

weekend casual

How is it that the weekend just flies by when you're doing a whole lotta nothing but work days seems to drag on forever? Sigh. I am just thankful today is an extra day off.

03.03.12
sweater: Banana / jeans: Gap / booties: Target / sunnies: Dsquared / earrings: Collignon Designs, gift'd

My new pink skinnies are going to be a favorite I can tell. I am so loving all the vibrant spring colors currently out in stores; just doing my best to keep with my 1-in-2-out closet rule.

project life | week 8

Totally addicted to this project. With all the inspiration around the internet and instagram, I love it more every week!

Last week's full spread also included on little insert.

week 8 left side
I love writing little stories from the week.

We received a birth announcement of a dear friend's 2nd little girl. I use to keep all my cards, etc with the plan of "doing something" with them later, only to never do that something. Now I have a place to store and display them immediately!

The card was about 5x5 so I used a 6x6 page protector. Since I don't have a sewing machine I improvised and stapled the card directly to the protector so it looks a bit like it's floating in the book and I could add some confetti (confetti use inspired by gluestick girl!

Last week the Nikon was used to take DD's 11 month photos. But generally my photos have been snapped with my iPhone and since they are being printed so small, I am loving the quality. But I also love the effect of an enlarged photo across the page, which was totally inspired by KP.

As corny as it sounds, this project has really made me realize that the little moments in our life are worth celebrating. And 10 years from now we are going to love to see what we did everyday, because I am sure things will change! Blogging is similar; wouldn't  you love to have a daily reminder of what you wore 10 years ago?

on the mat | early morning

Over the past two and a half years, I have slowly adjusted my practice from mostly evenings to the early morning. Being limber before the sun is out can be a bit difficult, especially in cooler winter months, and getting up at least an hour before practicing helps. Our only evening practice is Friday after work, which is a fantastic way to end the week.

No moon days this week so I managed 6 days of practice, Sun-Fri and have felt pretty good, with the exception of my left wrist. Doing upward facing dogs hurts if I have my wrist at a certain angle and with all the vinyasas we have in practice, this has put a lot of strain on it. I am hoping today's rest day will help, as well as some Aleeve and ice!

I ran twice at the park this week as well, this morning as well as yesterday morning. Again, with running, starting early for me is key because then the work out is out of the way and, especially in summer heat and humidity, the temperatures are more bearable. The cool 60s this morning was a nice change from the 80+ humidity we have had this week.

I have a 3 day weekend and am going to do my best to savor every last second.

finally Friday

02.29.12
top: J.Crew / cardi: Loft / skirt: Anthro / shoes: Old Navy / sunnies: Dsquared / earrings: Collignon Designs

For once the week seems to have flown by. And I am seriously amazed that we are already 2 days into March. The purchase of these oxfords (on sale, of course) were completely inspired by dotty. I love them on her and on me! And for less than 20 bucks, they are an inexpensive way to try out the oxford trend.

Spring is definitely in the air here in Houston. That makes me infinitely happy. So do bright spring colors.
Happy Friday!

That time

02.28.12
dress: Anthro / cardi: Gap / shoes: Jeffrey Campbell / sunnies: Dsquared / jewelry: Collignon Designs

This has been the time of the month when I have been eating everything in sight and feeling a bit blah. We've been a bit lenient on our gluten-free part of our diet and I think this is contributing to the blah feeling. Today is a new month and goodbye to gluten, again.

iSmile

{our Internet is down so I am posting from my phone so please excuse any wonkiness.}

We took JJ to the zoo sans his parents on Sunday. We can't decide if seeing the giraffe up close and personal or riding the camel on the carousel was our favorite part.

Diptic
The boys are both so active right now they rarely stay still for pics! One problem with using the iPhone as my primary camera these days...slow shutter time.

I've been getting into American Idol this year, although I still think the judges are too nice and need to be more critical.

{This week my outfits have been putting me to sleep so we'll see if any get posted!}

A little Miu Miu

Ting and I attended the opening party for the Miu Miu boutique in the Galleria last night. It was definitely a scene that I am so not a part of, but fun nonetheless.

We admired the bags and shoes, chatted with some girls, drank some wine and listened to Solange Knowles spin some tunes. The goody bags were even fancy.

But the best part of the evening was spending a little qt with my bestie all by ourselves! I may be a bit biased, but isn't my baby sister the cutest?

project life | week 7

week 7 finished spread
Valentine's week was a relatively busy one, since it also included a quick trip to Austin as well as the 12th  of the month, so I took lots of photos.

week 7 with inserts
I made 2 additional inserts to include everything.

week 7 left side
The left side of the spread was about meeting Kino, as well as Vday. I love that little card about yoga on the bottom left corner that was from Lululemon.

week 7 insert 1 frontweek 7 insert 1 back
The front and back of insert #1 which was 12 photos I took on the 12th. I cut up the instagrams to make them look like polaroids. Love how this turned out! This was also one of my 12 layouts for my 12 class.

week 7 insert 2 frontweek 7 insert 2 back
The front and back of insert #2 which were just different cards we received. I am a hoarder by nature but lately my life ephemera had just been piling up until I finally recycled or threw it away. Now I have a place to display it without having to create a whole scrapbook page. And another page for my 12 class. Love finding a place for ephemera as well as combining "assignments"!

week 7 right side
The right side of the spread. I created an enlarged photo a la KP. Instead of actually printing an enlarged photo, I cut it in half in photoshop and printed 2 4x6, which is less pricey.

Between Project Life and the 12 class I am currently taking, I have been scrapping up a storm! I am returning to this hobby with a vengeance, but I can feel myself losing steam if I am not careful. I can feel more combining of 12 and PL over the next few months.

a little run

I have finally gotten off my a$$ and started running, albeit very slow, again. I am an early morning exerciser, whether it be yoga, running, lifting weights, boot camp, whatever. So when I get serious about one thing (yoga, these days), my interest in other forms of exercise wanes.

For some odd reason, stopping the running, practicing yoga 5-6 days/week, cutting out about 85% of gluten from my diet and not eating meat has actually helped me to lose weight without even trying. But I feel like I need a bit more cardio in my life, so my goal for March will be to run 1-3 morning/week (basically on the days I don't practice). This should be a completely doable goal and writing in on the old blog will make me more accountable.

Have a great weekend!

Inspiration

02.22.12
top&boots: Anthro / cardi: Express / skirt: Loft, new / earrings&necklace: Collignon Designs / tights: Hue

I bought this skirt a few weeks ago and was unsure how to style it for "winter" until I saw Lisa wearing it and knew I wanted to copy her outfit. I seriously love everything she wears and would copy every outfit if it weren't so weird!

black flyaway cardi 02
This little knit cardi has lasted pretty well over the years I have worn it and hasn't really pilled at all. I like that.

iSmile | food edition

I have found that I like to photograph things I eat. It will be fun to see how things change over the years.

My typical breakfast consists of oatmeal, bananas and almond milk.

47/366
Soup in a bread bowl is great for a rainy day.

47/366
Post-practice coconuts are the best.

Gelato. Yums.

Not sure how it happens, but even after a full cart of groceries, sometimes it feels like we have nothing to eat!

My first attempt at Thai tofu coconut curry last night. It was ok, but missing something. Need to tweak the recipe a bit.

What did you eat last week?

I love a long cardi

02.19.12
top&jeans: Gap / cardi: Missoni for Target / shoes: Converse / sunnies: Oscar de la Renta

How is it that my 3-day weekend is already over? Work days seem to drag on forever; play days go by in a blink!

02.20.12
top&boots: Anthro / cardi: Jonathan Saunders for Target / jeans: Gap / sunnies: Oscar de la Renta

I have been a fan of Target collaborations long before the Missoni/Wu craze began. The pieces I have collected have been surprisingly well made and long lasting. And apparently I have a thing for long, hooded cardigans.

Fantasy vs. Reality

49/366
dress&shoes: Gucci, worn in store only

A good friend of mine is the GM at Gucci in the Galleria. I visited him this past Saturday to look at some sunnies. While I was there he asked me to try on a dress they just received. Of course it was gorgeous. Of course it made me feel glamorous. Good think I don't have any fancy events coming up on my busy social calendar, or this dress would have been mine (ha - like the 4-digit price tag was actually in my budget!).

02.18.12
sweater: Uniqlo / cords: AG via Anthro / boots: Loft / earrings&cuff: gift'd / necklace: Collignon Designs / belt: Gap

My Saturday nights are typically much more non-fancy. Since Joe was out of town, I met up with some friends for some Indian food, which didn't require high heels or LBDs.

project life | weeks 4 + 6

week 4 spread
I forgot to post the last week of January so thought I would get caught up today.

week 4 right side
I am so in love with the project, especially keeping up with weekly goings-on.

week 4 left side
In fact, without the photographic evidence that Joe had to get stitches that week, I would have completely forgotten about it.

I started with the journaling cards for last week.

It's funny, we haven't been going out and doing much so far this year.

But this project has made me feel like my life is rich in ways I cannot describe.

And that taking photos of little things, especially food, makes me happy!
