Hello, June
top: Anthro / skirt: Old Navy / shoes: Geox / sunnies&bag: Gucci / earrings: gift'd
TGIF, right? We've actually had a much quieter end of the month at work than I anticipated, which has been nice, but I am still ready for the weekend.
I have had this top for 2 years now and am not bored with it yet. I guess that's the beauty in created a working wardrobe of elements that I love.
We are going to the Houston Free Press Summer Fest this weekend. Despite it's name, the show is not free :) Performances will be going on all weekend but our main goal is to see Snoop and Afrojack on Saturday night and Willie Nelson on Sunday afternoon. With such a varied line-up I am sure the people-watching and photo ops will be numerous!

May, we loved you
dress: Loft / shoes: Tory Burch / sunnies&bag: Gucci / earrings: gifted
The best part about a holiday weekend is the short work week that follows. Even though we had a relaxing weekend, we were too lazy and didn't get much done. I am hoping to get "caught up" with life this coming weekend, but we've got some things planned so we'll have to see.
The months seem to be flying by and summer is already here. I am so happy we have a pool this year to escape from the heat. Gotta take advantage while we can!

project life | week 19
full spread without insert
19 weeks and I am still loving this project.

Even on weeks when I think "nothing really happened," I find that things did happen :)

I am trying to use a combination of digital elements/journaling, as well as my own messy handwriting.

My 12 photos for the 12th of May.

We had our first dinner party at our new place on the 11th and invited our dearest friends.

More random memories from the week. I love that photo of me and DD that my sister snapped. I just picked him up to take a picture and realized he just filled his diaper. TMI, I know, but still funny.

This (almost) real time scrapbooking is so fun to me. Making notes while the memories are still fresh in my mind is so easy and some of these details would have been forgotten if not captured in here.

weekend lens
We had a relatively uneventful holiday weekend, but I am enjoying the extra day off this morning.
Got in an early morning walk/run on Saturday. I actually had to work most of the day.
My summer neon fix from F21.
Our friends made us a {mostly} raw, 100% vegan breakfast with our post-yoga cocos.
We will be attending Burning Man with them at the end of the summer so we were trying on some of their outfits. I WILL be borrowing these boots!
Spent the rest of the afternoon at another friend's new pool.
I am taking a brief moment to thank and remember those who served to help us retain our freedom.

SOOC
I haven't had much time to play with my new toy, but I like what I've seen so far.
It focuses much quicker than my D50 and the images just seem clearer. These photos are straight-out-of-camera with no Photoshop involved.
My goal for the rest of the year is to use it at least once a week and not be so reliant on the iPhone! I actually think an accessory is available to wirelessly upload photos from your camera to computer...I'll have to look into it.

Easy dressing
dress: Banana / shoes: Old Navy / sunnies&bag / Gucci
Some days, hell, most days, I don't want to think about what I am going to wear to work. And dresses make that easy.
dress: J. Crew / shoes: Tory Burch / sunnies&bag: Gucci / necklace: Loft
I did make an effort to accessorize a bit more yesterday, as well as wear my new flats!
Neimans was offering a GC for every certain dollar amount you spend and since Revas rarely go on sale, I thought I would take advantage and treat myself for my birthday.
They are a fun pattern and are neutral enough to pair with many things. For the first wearing they were also pretty comfortable. These days I am rarely wearing heels to work (because of yoga, but more on that later) so investing in good flats are a must. The two pair I wear the most are starting to fall apart so I figured it was time.
I think I paid about $25 for this dress at a consignment store, which I though was a bit pricey for a pre-worn garment, but I have been getting some good use out of it. I'm not sure how old the dress is, but J. Crew does make some good clothes!

shorts in the city
top: LoL for Target / shorts: J. Crew / shoes: Dolce Vita for Target / sunnies: Gucci / bag: LV
Summer always comes early in Texas. Flattering shorts are a must.
top: Loft / shorts: J. Crew / shoes: Target / sunnies&bag: Gucci
I "need" shorts in all colors of the rainbow! But these two will do for now.
The hubs and I caught a matinee of Bernie on Monday. Highly recommend, especially if you live in Texas. The movie is based on a true story about Carthage, a small east Texas town, and features real citizens from the town.

project life | week 18
full spread without insert
May has been both a quiet and busy month. The weeks are going by uneventfully, but we always seem to be busy on the weekends.

I love that I now have a place to hold all the cards and random stuff we get in the mail. I used to just keep them in big envelopes until I decided they needed to be recycled. Now they actually have a place to be enjoyed in the future.

The last Sunday of April was spent at my friend Ann's house as well as with my parents up in Arlington. We drove back to Houston on Tuesday, where we stopped by Huntsville and met David Adickes (the artist who created the ginormous Sam Houston statue along I-45) to buy a piece of art as a 10th anniversary gift to each other. He was so nice to give us a personal tour of his new museum and we came home with a new painting. On Cinco de Mayo we had our first house party with our friends, which was a success.

A closer look at how I stored the anniversary cards we received in the mail as well as the ones we gave each other.

Most of the photos in this album are from 2012, but I thought I was appropriate to add a photo from our wedding to reflect on the last 10 years.

I adore this page, mainly because I adore these photos! We took these self-portraits outside an old building on our way to dinner. The enlarged photo is actually made up of 4 4x6 pictures that I cropped in photoshop, to cut down on printing costs. The idea was originally from this lady.

This project has made documenting the every day so fun. It can be as complicated or simple as you want it to be.

So thankful
My birthday weekend was a beautiful one. We used my old big camera for the rest of yesterday so no photos yet; my new big camera needs to have its battery charged! And instead of being sad that I am a year older, I am happy that I have made it through another one and thankful for my health, family, friends, and Joe.

Pseudo-ban
top: LoL for Target / pants: Gap / shoes: Old Navy / earrings: gift'd
I have both consciously and unconsciously not been shopping a lot this year. Consciously by cutting down on the amount of style blogs I read, especially those with an emphasis on wearing everything new, new, new as well as those skewed towards certain stores, as well as deliberately deleting all store sale emails before I am even tempted.
My lack of new clothes have probably been contributing to my lack of motivation to blog about the same ole stuff, but really I like to see how other people wear the same clothes in different ways, so why shouldn't I do the same? I love the print on this top and, of course, the color. Apparently I need to wear it with something other than black, though. My favorite look of the bunch is the pink on pink. Any suggestions?
top: Loft / skirt: Old Navy / shoes: Geox / earrings&bag: gift'd / belt: Anthro
The unconscious shopping ban has been due to our big move. We have been so busy packing, unpacking and decorating as well as enjoying the new place that I haven't really had that much time to shop anyways. And nothing with stop you from buying more sh!t than having to pack it all up!
However, I couldn't resist the call of the Anthro birthday discount as well as their bi-annual "big" sale. I wasn't super impressed with what they had, but I did pick up a few basics, a fun top as well as this belt.
Raise your hand if you are ready for the weekend already. I've got both mine up!
