 So the challenge for Thursday and Friday called for a jacket over vest/vest over jacket/jacket over cardigan. With 70+ degree weather the past few days, those kind of layers just ain't happening! But I am glad I dug out this vest - I forgot how much I like it and need to wear it again! *******************************************************************************************
Day 4 of the cleanse: Last night was the first night I didn't come home completely tired, although I am tired of the taste of the lemonade and barely even drank 64 ounces yesterday. I think I made the last batch a bit too cayenne-peppery, so today's batch has a bit less. Although I miss my morning cup of coffee, I am actually a bit glad for coming off it. I am sure the reason I had a headache yesterday was caffeine withdrawals, so when we're done I am going to cut back or drink more decaf.

Although the cleanse is not something I want to do all the time, now it's more of a mental challenge for me to complete it. And this one is easy in that you don't have to think about what you are going to eat because it's already made. Getting through the weekend will be tough and I am sad that we are going to have to skip some Superbowl parties, because we really can't be around people eating food. But hopefully we will get lots of projects done around the house. I will keep you posted.

P.S. I finally converted over to the new blogger interface and while it seems to have some better functionality, it's different too. Anyone else having difficulty?

I left my little camera at home yesterday so was unable to take outfit photos until the end of the day. But I liked this outfit enough that I wanted to document it, so mr. flash had to be used. Notice the bare legs...the temperatures were in the 70s yesterday and probably today as well. Such is December in H-town!

Sometimes the only thing that tells Houstonites of the changing seasons is the shorter days. When the sun goes down at 7 PM, all I feel like doing is crawling in bed and sleeping. I really need to make more of an effort to get out during lunch at work, if only to see the sun for a bit!

Today is Chinese New Year. It is the year of the Rabbit. My family is not big on celebrating. I think my parents are the most non-tradional Chinese parents around! At any rate, I wish you the best for the new year.


The hubs is leaving today to go skiing in Breckenridge (fingers crossed he makes it there in spite of the weather). Since we won't be spending V-day together this year, he gave a me couple gifts early. The earrings are simply gorgeous and the necklace is simply fun and makes me smile. I will probably be wearing it the whole time I am away.


H&M is known for its fast fashion, but I like when I find staples there that a fun, flattering and cheap! This sweater is a great layering item.

I wonder if it will snow today...

Everything I am wearing today, with the exception of my shoes and belt, are from at least 3 years ago. I've had this top from Banana forever, hadn't worn it in years but didn't want to get rid of it, and finally have been wearing it again.

The dress I bought over 10 years ago! I wore it to the first wedding the hubs and I ever attended together back when we first started dating, so I think it's a good luck charm. I wore it to death when I first bought it, then I became bored with it. Again, it was hanging in my closet for a long time before I started wearing it again.

And the necklace I bought at a Billionaire Babes sample sale (before all those sample sales were online) in the fall of 2007. So I am quite happy that I have managed to make at least some wise purchases in my clothes!

In celebration of the cool weather I decided to wear a light cardi today. I'm sure by the end of the day it will be off but for now I can pretend it's fall.


This skirt was a pretty good buy from Old Navy ($15), but I think I need to invest in a more substantial, longer pencil skirt.

It's no secret that I love all things pink. I think it's a universally flattering color and it simply makes me happy. I have become a bit bolder in the amount of pink I wear together, but I think it works! Happy hump day :)

Why I decided to limit my shopping on the eve of a big shopping holiday is beyond me. Lots of cool things are on sale at Anthro, Loft, etc and I am really tempted to stop by and look and...buy. But I really don't need anything. I keep reminding myself that I still have things in my closet that I haven't yet worn, so no need to buy more!

Why holidays are associated with shopping is beyond me as well. Well, aside from the obvious sales that retailers use for people to get in the stores. I have taken a deep breath, peeked into my overflowing closet and decided that, no, I really don't need that cute skirt even if it's only $19.99 plus 40% off. Baby steps, no?

This morning we practiced yoga instead of go for our usual run. Since I practiced the night before I was pretty sore during, but am glad we went.

Ruffle-y goodness

Going back to work after 3 days off is made easier with ruffles!

As odd as it may seem, I have actually enjoyed working more these past couple months since "graduating" from scrubs. Since I love clothes and wearing them, I guess I look forward to coming up with new outfits (and of course buying new clothes!). I am also glad that I am finally able to wear my closet full of clothes more than I had in the past.

Right now I am off the Target in the hopes that they are not sold out of my Cynthia Vincent wedges. Keep your fingers crossed!

Another working weekend...

They come all too quick! I think today is going to be a beautiful day as well...we will see if the patients actually show up!

Today's outfit is a bit on the casual side, but I figure for Saturday I don't really need to be that formal. I am glad I am able to incorporate my "fun" wardrobe into my "work" wardrobe. I prefer to wear work clothes that reflect my personal style rather than what traditional work clothes may be defined to be.

I think the hubs and I will be heading out to Discovery Green after work today - they have a DJ playing there who used to play at Body & Soul, this cool venue in NYC that we love. And it's free! I like to have something to look forward to when I have to work on Saturday.

Color me annoyed

I am unable to locate my Canon point-and-shoot camera. I am hoping it will turn up as we clean up the house but I am afraid it may have been stolen out of my car (which was unlocked this morning). I am keeping my fingers crossed that Joe may find it in the madness of our house, but am really annoyed right now.

I like taking remix photos with my SLR, but the PaS is sometimes so much more convenient! Boo!

Too bad we can't work outside

The H-town weather has been glorious this week so far. Sunny, 70s, low humidity. It makes me want to be outside as much as possible because soon enough I will be sweating up a storm. Yesterday the hubs and I did a little grocery shopping, went to Rice Village and did a little regular shopping as well as got some ice cream at The Chocolate Bar (yums!). We even walked to Berry Hill for dinner for $1.99 fish tacos (double yums!).

Today its back to reality and work. I bought this top on sale at Martin and Osa last summer and today is the first time I have worn it! I knew it would come in handy some day :) And the shoes are a recent purchase from Ross on super clearance ($20!).
