I bought these pants on a whim, but they've turned out to be quite versatile in my wardrobe. They are the Cafe Capris and I love the way they fit. Now I am debating if I should buy more in different colors.

Here are the different ways I have worn them (I really enjoy seeing how other wanna-be fashionistas remix their wardrobes so I thought I would show how I do mine!)

This shirt was purchased months ago but had yet to make an appearance on the old bloggy blog.


I love this skirt but it is at least one size too big. To solve the waist issues I took inspiration from fellow wanna-be fashionistas and belted it since I don't have the talent to alter anything and I don't think it would be worth the $$ to have it tailored. I like the paperbag effect.

I am off for PR night...let's make it work!

I can feel a coolness in the air this morning. I'm sure it's just a tease and it'll hot and humid later on today, but fall is coming, I can feel it!

I decided to go classic and simple today. Work may be a bit busy and I wanted to be comfortable. This shirt is years old; I haven't worn it in ages but since it's a classic shape (surprising since it's from Express) I will probably still get many years of wear from it!

It's no secret that I love all things pink. I think it's a universally flattering color and it simply makes me happy. I have become a bit bolder in the amount of pink I wear together, but I think it works! Happy hump day :)

I didn't realize I am almost total Crew today until I typed it all out. As much as I want to love Anthro, I think J. Crew is more my style, with cleaner lines and more "adult" style. I really like wearing pencil skirts to work and the fuller skirts at Anthro just seem to juvenile for me. That said, I still regret not buying the Snakebite belt in gray. I am still searching for the perfect wide gray belt, but this one will have to do for now.

I realize this outfit is more of a spring than fall look; however, it feels more like spring/summer than fall here, so I think it's ok. Another working weekend for me...boo!

On why I like skinny jeans

I am, in general, a fairly slim, in shape person. One reason you can tell I am a runner is from my muscular calves and thighs. I do NOT have stick legs, like may girls. So when skinny jeans first became popular again, I was skeptical about how they would look on me.

I have to say that the right pairs (i.e. the ones that fit perfectly) actually make me feel, well, skinny. And feeling skinny is always a good thing.

Why I decided to limit my shopping on the eve of a big shopping holiday is beyond me. Lots of cool things are on sale at Anthro, Loft, etc and I am really tempted to stop by and look and...buy. But I really don't need anything. I keep reminding myself that I still have things in my closet that I haven't yet worn, so no need to buy more!

Why holidays are associated with shopping is beyond me as well. Well, aside from the obvious sales that retailers use for people to get in the stores. I have taken a deep breath, peeked into my overflowing closet and decided that, no, I really don't need that cute skirt even if it's only $19.99 plus 40% off. Baby steps, no?

This is one of my NYC purchases. I thought it was pretty cool and conservative for H&M and I liked the military-inspired vibe. I thought I would add a touch on animal print for some interest :)

Hard time letting go

I took a random day off from work today to hang out with my sis and mom and to see my little nephew off to his first day of "school." Poor guy, they had a fire drill right after he was put down for his nap so he didn't get much sleep, but he was definitely a trooper!

I thought I would find something new and exciting to wear today but I really love these sandals so out they came. And this technically isn't what I wore all day (I was in shorts and flip flops most of the day), but I am off to school myself (Continuing Ed for work).

Now what?

Three posts in one day? Obviously I have some time on my hands and I am making up for my missed time yesterday!

I love seeing all my looks together. I know I get inspired when I see other people where the same items different ways, so I like being able to inspire myself!

Some stats for the challenge:
Items worn the most: a 3 way tie between 3 different pairs of shoes: gray wedges, flips flops and ballet flats (each worn 6 times)

Items worn the least: a 2 way tie betrwwn brown platform wedges and white chinos (only worn once!)

Favorite Look: 19, because I love color

Least favorite look: 2, because it was a bit dull

What I learned: I really should have chosen some more interesting casual tops than the ribbed tanks, because they got real boring real quick. Accessories can definitely make a look. A girl can never have enough shoes!

What I am taking away: Less really is more because having a limited wardrobe to choose from made getting dressed much easier. Except for shoes: Shoes are like accessories than really can change an outfit. I have more clothes than I can possibly wear so being creative can stretch my wardrobe. I don't have to shop all the time.

What next: I am looking forward to "shopping my closet" in September. I bought a number of things from our last 2 trips that I haven't yet pulled out. So I will have a lot of new clothes to wear without even spending more money!

I have a feeling some of the items in my 30 will still be in strong rotation because they are great for work. And I am okay with that.

I wish I had the guts to join The Great American Apparel Diet but I know myself well enough that I don't have that kind of will power. So instead I am going to put myself on a monthly budget and make sure I buy only what I love and what I can incorporate into my existing wardrobe. If I want something that is outside the monthly budget, then I will have to wait and save more.

I am also going to attempt to limit which fashion/style blogs I visit. My need for new things stems from wanting what I see other people buying. I keep reminding myself there will always be new pretty things that I will want and I will never be able to have it all so just chill and enjoy what I have. I think that should work.
