Back to the real world

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and the holiday celebrations are over. We spent Monday running errands and trying to get caught up. We also watched Wall-E last night, which was a good reminder for me on why I need less stuff!

I have also decided that life is too short not to wear fun and colorful clothes. I bought this skirt from Anthro over a year ago and have only worn it a few times, even though I love the bright floral pattern. Be prepared to see more of it, and other less loved items, this year.

I am feeling less guilty about being behind on daily posts this week since blogger was down for the past couple days. It's funny how a change in your schedule can make everything go wonky.

I wore this outfit on our anniversary date night last Saturday. We ate at The Slanted Door in San Francisco. If you are ever in the Bay Area, I highly recommend it. The food was absolutely delicious!

The whirlwind travel we did last weekend drained me a bit of my wardrobe inspiration so I am glad I have a backlog of cute outfits to share. Looks like there is no end in sight with the travel, as I will be back in Austin for work over the next 2 weeks and through June as well. Sigh. I guess things could be worse, right?

Being away from the hubs this week made me realize that the hardest part about traveling to India for almost 2 months will be being away from the hubs! Skype will make things easier, but still. In the grand scheme of things, 7 weeks really isn't all that long (that's what I keep telling myself).

I went a little crazy past week as far as shopping goes. This skirt was part of my Old Navy gingham shirt haul and I just realized I have one in the almost identical color. But this one had pockets! And was only $7! I also stopped by Old Navy by my work in Austin. They, too, were having an extra 40% off clearance. Their clearance section was by far the largest and most organized I have ever seen. The 9 items I bought added up to about $40, but with the random gift cards I found in my wallet, I didn't spend a dime.

I bought this sweater coat at Old Navy about a year and a half ago, again for 40% off clearance. It's gotten some pretty good use for $6.

Twenty-five and -six

I love taking a break from the computer, but then I feel so behind as a result!

On Saturday night our friend AQ was visiting from London so we all went out for drinks. I had a few too many cocktails and paid the price on Sunday!

We spent most of Sunday recovering from the night's festivities with some brunch, shopping and an early dinner.

I do love driving around the city at night during the holidays because of all the lights everywhere. Makes the view much more pleasant!

Fifteen and sixteen

Happy Thanksgiving y'all. I hope you ate too much turkey and pumpkin pie yesterday; I know I did. I recreated my outfit from yesterday as I didn't have time to take a remix photo.

With the weather varying from 80degrees to 40 degrees over the past few weeks, the remix challenge has been quite the challenge! I definitely didn't choose all the right clothes and am wearing several pieces (i.e. the sweaters) over and over again.

I did cheat a little on showing these outfits: last night I didn't wear the boots and today's outfit was put on and then promptly removed after the photo was taken. I don't think I am going to brave the crowds on this black Friday and I just plan on hanging out with the fam the rest of the day so back into Lululemon yoga pants we go! This outfit is what I WOULD wear if I was actually leaving the house today :)

Did anyone score any great deals today or did you avoid the crowds like me?

PR night

In honor of us hosting the Project Runway viewing party at our house tonight I am going to wear a Project Runway top! Victorya Hung from season 4 (? - the one in which Christian won) won the SJP Bitten challenge and the top/dress plus vest was available at Steve and Barry's (which has since gone bye-bye). The only S&B in Houston was at Almeda Mall in the barrio, but I stalked it and it was mine. The only vest left was size L but I bought it anyways thinking I would have it altered. Luckily it was only $15 because it is still hanging in my closet, yet to see the tailor!

The model on the show wore it as a dress but it's too short not to wear anything underneath!

Just chillin'

Today was a fairly mellow day...I think we are still recovering from the NYE festivities! And I really enjoy just hanging out at home with the hubs, especially when he is being silly and wearing my clothes:

I love this hat, which was purchased during a NYC trip with my sis when we attended fashion week!

I don't get a chance to wear it much here in H-town, but love it when I do!
