What happened to the weekend?
I am tired today. From working all day yesterday, watching JJ for a few hours, drinking one glass too many at Club Rue last night, working 1 hour this morning, having lunch at Ruggles Green, watching Avatar (completely predicatable but enjoyable) and now watching the Grammy's (Taylor Swift attempting to sing with Stevie Nicks? Pul-lease!). Some photos may be posted later.

Cats and Dogs
As in, it's raining! Or it was raining! I thought our house was going to float away. Well, that may be a slight exaggeration, but from the wee hours in the morning until about 6:30 AM the rain came down non-stop. Luckily it's stopped now for me to get into my car without being soaked!

PR night
In honor of us hosting the Project Runway viewing party at our house tonight I am going to wear a Project Runway top! Victorya Hung from season 4 (? - the one in which Christian won) won the SJP Bitten challenge and the top/dress plus vest was available at Steve and Barry's (which has since gone bye-bye). The only S&B in Houston was at Almeda Mall in the barrio, but I stalked it and it was mine. The only vest left was size L but I bought it anyways thinking I would have it altered. Luckily it was only $15 because it is still hanging in my closet, yet to see the tailor!
The model on the show wore it as a dress but it's too short not to wear anything underneath!

Almost there
I have been on a pretty good yoga routine this January and even better that past 2 weeks. Today Yannis stuffed me into Supa Krumasana (sleeping tortoise) and I am getting my drop backs into backbend even better. The hardest part is coming back up! I have a feeling my legs and back are going to be sore tomorrow!

loverly weekend
I had quite a busy weekend and I'm glad it's not over yet (I heart Mondays off!)! Mom drove down to see the little peanut on Thursday and we all had dinner together (the hubs picked up some fish tacos from BH - yums).
On Friday I visited Tingaling, Mum and the peanut at lunch. He is growing so fast! That night we belatedly celebrated D's birthday at Dolce Vita, after yoga with Erik.Unfortunately we couldn't eat any of their delicious pizza because of our ban on gluten this month, but the other food was delicious and they even served a flourless chocolate torte which was quite tasty! Much fun was had by all
On Saturday G came over for early morning coffee talk. I had to see patients for about 1 hour and then the hubs and I headed to the Met for Yemike's Vinyasa yoga class. Her class was definitely challenging, but I enjoy pushing myself. I think I have really found my thing with yoga.
We spent the afternoon hanging out, scrapping (!), and grocery shopping. Some friends of ours were having a private party at their new bar so a few peeps stopped by the house for impromptu cocktails before we headed to the bar. It was beautifully decorated inside with tons of Tiffany lamps in all sizes.More fun was had by all.
Today I went to yoga with Ed (the hubs slept in) and my legs were spent. I can't remember the last time I practiced yoga 3 days in a row (if I go tomorrow it will be 4!). We met our peeps at 1308 for brunch and then went to poolside at Kurt's because of the beautiful day. I did make a side trip to KL where I ordered some cool Dsquared sunnies from D with the GC I got for my birthday ages ago!
I am tired now and off to bed. Tomorrow should be another great day filled with yoga, sisters, and babies!

Is it bad
...that I get dressed to take a photo and then change into scrubs for work?
This outfit is nothing to write home about, except that I love the ruffly tee! I also heard a rumor that we may be able to wear business casual on non-surgery days which would mean 2 days I could bust out some of my clothes and still wear pjs the other days. Not a bad deal because sometimes I really get bored with just wearing scrubs to work!

warmish day
The weather is in the 60s today so I thought I would wear a dress! We had lunch with some friends since everyone is off for MLK day. {I have since put on a pair of leggings underneath as it is still a bit breezy.}
Today is definitely a lazy day but I did send a text to donate $$ to help Haiti. The number is 90999 and text "Haiti" to the Red Cross to donate.

new boots
I have realized that I have far too much clothes in my overstuffed closet and I am trying my best not to buy more...but sometimes I just can't resist a good sale! That aside, what I do feel I am lacking is in my shoes. I have been obsessed with shoes but really haven't been buying too many. So my goal this year is to buy less clothes and some better shoes.
My first shoe puchase this year is this pair of gray boots from, of all places, Ann Taylor Loft (one of my new favorites stores last year!). I saw them this fall while in NYC but didn't want to pay the $200+ price tag. On my lunch break this Thursday I decided to drop by to see if they had anything on supersale - and found these (+an extra 25% off!). I have been obsessed with finding some good flat boots. I have bought and returned 3 pairs from Endless.com (luckily free shipping both ways!). These are perfect. They are a nice distressed leather that fit over my giant calves plus jeans! I have a feeling I will be wearing them a lot until the spring!
While at Loft I tried on a couple of their new dresses:
Blooms Print Dress with Necklace detail
Ink Dot Sheath Dress
, which is super super cute and I hope goes on sale before all the size 4s sell out!
But I am focused. I need a new dress like I need a hole in my head. So the next pair of shoes? I'm thinking some cute black ballet flats are in order...

Slow and steady
Half-marathon time again! This season I have not been running as much as I should, and it showed in my time (just under 2:15, I think). I was really suffering the last 1.5 miles - mentally I felt I could run faster but physically my body said no. My calves were tightening up and I had to stop and stretch them multiple times. At one point I got a charlie horse in my calf and nearly fell over! I really finished through sheer force of will. So I guess this means I need to redeem myself next year? Maybe, we'll see about that!
Tonight is the start of awards season - the Golden Globes. One of my boys is having a party so that's what will be doing later...

Halfway
I can't believe January is already half over - eep! I have been trying to get organized, but don't seem to be very successful. Today was the 1st Saturday in 3 weeks that I had to work - wasn't fun but wasn't too painful either.
We are running the half-marathon tomorrow so am having an early night, although we did meet some friends for some pre-dinner cocktails.
I have really been addicted to cardis this season...
The boy in the middle, Z, is celebrating his birthday tonight (although it was technically 2 nights ago). Unfortunately we couldn't join everyone for dinner because of aforementioned race. And off to bed I go!

Back into the swing of things
Today was a drama-filled day at work - suffice it to say I have had it up to here with our technicians and hope that our center director can get it through their thick skulls that their job is to work and not complain about it. ANYWAYS, I almost didn't go to yoga but the hubs convinced me to and I am so glad that I did. 90 minutes of yoga always makes me feel better. Yannis was bugging me about memorizing my sanskrit (the names of all the poses) so I guess I should work on that as well!
Our friends are having a Project Runway party tomorrow night. I hope this season back in NYC is better than the last!

It's going to be a long week
Today is the start of my first 5 day work week in almost 1 month. Boo! But it was also the first day of one of my favorite shows - American Idol! The auditions weren't as terrible as usual and saw a few that I liked but no one has really stood out just yet.
Some good friends came to visit this past Sunday - we haven't seen them in 3+ years so it was really good to catch up. Photos to come soon...

Playing dress up
Because I wear scrubs to work, I love getting a little "dressed up" on my off days. I have been obsessing about getting a pair of casual flat boots but at DSW today the boots were slim pickins. I don't mind ordering them online but again it's hard to judge the fit so the 2 pair I have tried I have already sent back. I may try 1 more pair from Endless.com before giving up!
I have been really into layering this year, probably from all my flickr/blog inspiration. And for now, my trusty $8 Old Navy booties will have to suffice!

I did it
In keeping with my word of the year, I have finally done a scrapbook page. I have really been neglecting my creative side and focusing on the retail side of my life. I really love buying clothes but at the end of the day I don't spend time looking at my closet (well maybe sometimes!). I do love looking at my photo albums and scrapbooks and am going to make an effort in my memory keeping this year.

No more shopping!
These past few months I have been going a leetle bit crazy with the amount of time and $$ I have been spending on my clothes - reading fashion blogs has only added fuel to the fire. So I really need to curb my shopping habit. I just splurged on a pair of flat boots from endless.com and that is going to be my last purchase this month. All the after Christmas sales are pretty much over and I really don't need any more clothes - what I need to do is work with the clothes that I already have!
Repeat after me: No more online shopping...no more online shopping...{ETA 1/6/10: The aforementioned boots were a bust so back they go. So the quest for some cool flat boots continues...}

Gluten free
So the hubs has initiated a new diet that we are testing out for the next month - no gluten, which means no wheat, rye or barley. Basically bread and pasta are out! We are doing this in an attempt to be more conscious of what we eat and to be more healthy (no cookies, cake, etc etc). Fortunately we aren't changing too too much but gluten is in a lot of random things - we just bought our first gluten-free bottle of soy sauce today. Let's see how it goes!
P.S. Sorry for the no-photo post...the aforementioned husband has been monopolizing the desktop computer all day and the laptop doesn't have any new photos!

Just chillin'
Today was a fairly mellow day...I think we are still recovering from the NYE festivities! And I really enjoy just hanging out at home with the hubs, especially when he is being silly and wearing my clothes:
I love this hat, which was purchased during a NYC trip with my sis when we attended fashion week!
I don't get a chance to wear it much here in H-town, but love it when I do!

Still in recovery
I'm glad the holidays have fallen over the weekend this year. I have really enjoyed these long weekends off from work! Today was another relaxing day spent with family and friends and cupcakes!
I feel like I have been wearing too much pin lately so I decided to spice things up a bit with some turquoise blue. I have also been in love with cardis this past season, probably due to the influence of the many fashion blogs and flickr I have been following the past few months!
My wardrobe goal this month is to wear things that I think are too "special" more for everyday stuff. Life is too short not to look fabulous while living it!
