A treat (or two), no tricks!
As a celebration of reaching the 100-follower mark and as a thank you for listening to me babble on and on, I thought I would do a giveaway and share some of my Missoni haul from last month.
Up for grabs is a purple silk square scarf:
And a brown knit scarf:
To enter, just let me know that you are a follower! Winners will be chosen at random on Monday, November 7th. Good luck!
Week in photos
Happy Halloween!
As I was unpacking, I found this little tag on one of my clothes. I *heart* Uniqlo, especially because of little deets like this!
DD is actually 7 months and 1 week old in this photo, but who is keeping track? He is so close to crawling...any day now!
Just a selfie of me and my new earrings.
Our last PR party for the season!
Princess P's bday.
JW's 40th bday.
Pooh bear was not cooporating yesterday and this was the best photo of the two of them. I did get some cute ones of the hunny pot though!
The aforementioned hunny pot.
And our costumes on Saturday night. We were the zombie-fied version of Popeye and Olive Oyl so imagine our delight when we ran into the live versions!

My favorite Fall Trends: More dots!
all items remix'd
dress: Jovovich-Hawk for Target
boots: Anthro
earrings: Collingnon Designs, gift'd
tights: Target
Did I already mention how happy I am that we are finally getting some cooler weather down here in Houston? I bought this dress on super sale in the spring but have only worn it once since it is way too hot to wear in the humidity. Also, I think it looks better with tights and boots because of its length. I almost forget I had this dress in my wardrobe because I lent it to my sister :)
My newest backdrop for my photos is my giant closet door. We have enough light in our bedroom that at least I don't have to use a flash here. I am hoping to get it together next week to take more remix photos in natural light!

Fall Trends: Brights
tunic: Missoni for Target
leggings: Uniqlo
boots: Anthro
earrings: Collingnon Designs, gift'd&remix'd
cuff: Tiffany's, gift'd&remix'd
The temperatures are finally cooling down so that I can enjoy more of my Missoni haul. I may have bought a few things to many, but they are fun pieces I will be able to enjoy for a bit. I am impressed that the sweaters/tunics (they are way to short to be considered dresses, in my opinion) are lined so wearing tights or leggings underneath them is not an issue.
I was happy with the outcome of Project Runway's winner this season (as was the hubs, for different reasons!). I am hoping she puts out some cool dresses on Piperlime!

This week has flown by, I feel like I have been super busy (especially at work) yet have really gotten nothing accomplished at all! Going on vacation always does that to me; I am procrastinator by nature and when I get off my normal schedule I have a hard time getting remotivated. So glad I took tomorrow off so I can have a "normal" weekend.

My "trendy" outfits have been less than inspired this week because of this perpetual feeling of being behind. For more inspiration go here for a list of much more stylish ladies than I!
P.S. A good thing that has resulted from my taking daily photos of my outfits is that I am more aware of my wardrobe and things I wear on a daily basis. So I opted out of buying ruffled mini-skirts and the like that my eye is drawn to and bought more wearable things like this pencil skirt. I love Uniqlo, especially their prices!

Fall trends: Midi me
all items remix'd*
top&belt: Anthro
skirt: Theory
shoes: 9West
earrings: Collingnon Designs, gift'd* (and new!)
Looking at this photo has made me realize that when belting this skirt, it is not quite as "midi" as I envisioned, but it will have to do.
These earrings were a gift from the hubs yesterday as a congrats for reaching the 100! He really is the best. For those of you who watch Modern Family, I keep wanting to call them "hair rings!"

Early sunsets are putting a cramp in my daily outfit photos! I completely forget to snap a photo at lunch so I had to resort using my flash after work. Which is why I look more crumpled than usual. {Note to self: take photos earlier tomorrow!}
My take on trends are usually not too trendy. This shirt is from 2008 and still works well. See more trends at Megan or Keely.
I am still getting caught up from being out of town last week so forgive me if I haven't visited you lately. We have also hit the magic 100 followers so keep your eye out for something special soon!
Thanks!
Over the last month I received 2 bloggy awards from
Megan and
Tia, respectively.
So seven random things you never wanted to know about me:
1) I carry at least 2 cameras with me at all times, usually my SLR and a point-and-shoot. I think my new IPhone is going to be replaced the PAS as I only took 4 photos with it on this most recent trip and about 180 with the IPhone.
2) I love coffee from my French press. Since returning from India in March, I have
been addicted to drinking a big cup every morning before yoga practice.
3) I am an early bird by nature and rarely get anything productive done past 8 PM.
4) Laundry is a chore that I don't hate because it has a finite ending.
5) My nephews are my two newest loves.
6) Getting to really know me takes a long time, but once you are in, I will love you forever. Just don't piss me off. :)
7) I am and will always be a goofball at heart.
Thanks ladies, this was fun!

Week in photos
{My least favorite part of vacationing is unpacking. So I thought I would procrastinate a bit more by updating the old blog!}
Observations for the week:
The hubs showed me this gem of a Halloween house. I can't imagine how long putting up all these decorations took!
I always overpack when I travel and end up wearing the same things over and over again. I need to remember to pack lighter!
Here I am with Mr&Mrs. E. She is a doll!
No photo could do the 9|11 Memorial justice. The pools are amazing. I am just glad we were able to pay our respects.
Us at the Highline.
The view from the Top of Rockefeller Center is amazing but getting good night snaps can be problematic.
We only saw one show this trip. We tried the lottery for The Book of Mormon but didn't get ticktes. Billy Elliot was a great one, though.
And what I wore
all items remix'd*
jacket: A|X
sweater: Gap
jeans: J. Crew
boots: Target
scarf&bag: Missoni for Target (*except these)
I pretty much wore a variation of this outfit the entire trip. Even thought NYC is the fashion capital of the world to me, I prefer to be comfortable when travelling and outfits were second to enjoying our time.

Riding the subway.

Our friend JE who moved back from the city after living in Milan for 2 years. He brought back perfect Italian and a new wife!

And shopping of course.
{Can you tell I am obsessed with my new toy? It's so easy to edit and post photos now...I don't know how I lived without it!}

Winner winner tofu dinner
Over the past couple weeks I have actually won a few goodies from fellow bloggers. My first win was this beautiful homemade flower made from a tie from the cutest Megan. She has some mad DIY skills as well as some killer style so go check her out (although if you read my blog you probably read hers as well).
And tonight I found out that I won a $50 GC to J.Crew from Lisa! She's also got amazing style and an fabulous wardrobe that I would love to raid.
I definitely feel it's about time for a giveaway from me as well. Good karma and all. I'm thinking when I hit the 100 follower mark. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.
Thanks again ladies!
A creative lull
On days when I feel less than inspired by my wardrobe, I pick a fun top and comfy bottoms.
all items remix'd
top: Anthro
skirt: Old Navy
shoes: J. Crew
earrings, bangles: various, gift'd
necklace: Collingnon Designs
all item remix'd
top: Anthro
skirt: Old Navy
shoes: Marc Jacobs
sunnies: Dsquared
earrings: Collingnon Designs, gift'd
cuff: gift'd
bag: LV
The first look is from yesterday and the second from about two weeks ago. I count on Anthro to find unusual tops that are easy to wear. Lately I've been all about comfort. It's weird; I don't feel like shopping but I'm not feeling inspired either. I guess getting dressed has a creative flow too; sometimes you feel it and sometimes you don't. The only difference is that for most of us, getting dressed for public is a necessity while other creative endeavors can be put on the back burner.
While I enjoy having a versatile basick pencil skirt at my disposal, I think I need to shake things up a bit. I know I said I don't feel like shopping but we are going to the shopping mecca of the world (well, for me at least) - NYC - this week! My (shopping) goal is to find some fun pieces at stores not in Houston.
The hubs and I are definitely looking forward to our annual visit to the city. I will make every effort to post something the rest of the week but can make no promises.
P.S. Unfortunately my Chinese cooking skills are really limited to stir fry so those dumplings from last week are not homemade by me. We went to a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Bellaire called Yummy Kitchen and they were definitely yummy!

Week in Photos
Observations for the week:
This is my first real selfie in a long time. Maybe I should wear lipstick next time.
Our time at the first night of Houston Fashion Week was fun because of the company, not the clothes.
I seriously love this face.
Project Runway night was a bit more intimate this week, which I actually prefer.
My phone got upgraded...finally.
Dumplings are good.
Can you guess which one belongs to me?
