There and back again

Monday morning I drove to San Antonio to help out at our office there.And I drove back this evening. The drive is just about 3 hours which is almost bearable.I meet a dear friend, Chris, for dinner and drinks. I feel bad that he has lived there and this is the first time visiting. I will be back in a couple weeks and hopefully Joe will come with me so we can spend some more QT with C!

I also did a little shop shop at Old Navy (50% off sale items) and got 4 tops for $20! That's cheaper than a lot of things I saw when I attempted to go thrifting on Sunday afternoon. I've decided I'd rather do sales than thrifts...

TV is fun again!

Work has been keeping me uber busy this week and I have a feeling it may even get a bit worse in October! The other doc in our office and I are going to be switching time in San Antonio because we lost a doc there so it's going to be a lot a driving. Joe may actually come with me one week since he has the time, so that may be fun to explore the city together. We also have a good friend who lives there whom we haven't really seen in years so hopefully will be able to catch up with him. But in between all that is work!

Our trip to Maine was superfun and relaxing. It felt like we spent more time outdoors this long weekend than I have all summer here in Houston! We arrived mid-afternoon on Thursday so just spent the afternoon hanging out. On Friday we ran early in the morning, went fishing (didn't catch anything though), did a little shopping in Freeport, picked up Joe's tri packet and hiked at this mountain, whose name escapes me at the moment. The top of the mountain gave us a gorgeous view of all the trees. The leaves are just barely starting to change color so we didn't get a complete fall view, but it was spectactular nonetheless.

On Saturday Joe competed in the Lobsterman triathlon, an olympic distance race. Out of about 800 competitors he finished 19th overall and won his age group! All the hard work and training is paying off...hopefully we will be making a trip to Kona next year (fingers crossed!).

The highlight of our trip had to be our sailboat ride on Sunday. Mom K has a friend who owns a big boat (ummm, not sure of the distance, but it actually has a lots of room downstairs and underneath with a stove and everything - she has sailed for up to 6 weeks in it, so bigger than any boat I've ever been on). Sailing is much more involved that I realized and takes a lot of strength and coordination, so luckily Joe has both! Mom's friend Dianne has been all over the world, including the Arctic and Antarctica and told many interesting stories. She is 72 years young, but didn't look or act it!

I have yet to edit my 400+ photos from the weekend of doing nothing so I hope to post some more, but for now here I am in my cute sailing outfit!

Back in the swing of things...

I like coming home during the day 'cause it gives me time to catch up, unpack, and get back into my routine. I really need to edit my photos, tidy my mess and go grocery shopping...but for now, I will relax and watch some DVR!

I am already missing this one...

The great outdoors

We have had a wonderful outdoors-y trip up at Maine so far. Fishing, running, shopping, hiking, eating and cheering have been all part of it! Today we are going boating on a real sail boat! Can't wait. I wish it wasn't already Sunday...

We had a slow summer but our travels are picking up again! We leave bright and early tomorrow morning for a layover in Boston before flying into Maine. The temperature is going to be varying between thhe 40s and 70s so I tried to pack some layers, but I really can't wrap my mind around the cold weather! I would like to wear some cute stuff, but it's too hard to pack so I will probably be wearing my basics...

I am actually glad to be getting out of dodge...work has been a bit stressful and it will be nice to regroup for a bit. Joe is bringing the laptop so I should be posting from the road :)

Today was a somewhat stressful day for work, but when I got home I found a package waiting for me! It was from The Giant Peach, my college roommate K's business. She was so sweet to sent me not just 1 but 3 absolutely adorable tees! I can't wait to wear them. And it totally made my day. Thanks so much K! Love you!

Let me clarify

I mentioned a few posts ago that my Joe is now our official house mouse :)! For those of you worried about our financial situation (a.k.a. mom!), while he was working he was saving all those retention bonuses etc in preparation for this day. So really nothing has changed except that Joe is home every day instead of going to work for like 3 hours :). So I don't think much is going to change (well, of course we are going to be more frugal, especially with the eating out and shopping but other than that not much is going to change!)

Not feeling quite myself

I am loving the lower humidity that we have been having this last week, but it's wrecking havoc on my throat! I have woken up with a sore throat every day since we got back from Cali! I don't feel sick but I'm definitely not 100% either and have been really unmotivated to work out. I haven't taken any allergy medicine yet, so maybe I should do that now.

In other, unrelated to allergies news, the hubs is finally done with his gig at Enron! He plans on taking a few months off to train for his 2nd to last Ironman triathlon (with the last being, hopefully, in Kona!). Luckily we have been saving for a rainy day so we should be ok, although it feels weird for me to be the primary breadwinner :). One of his goals while being unemployed is to cook more and try a new recipe every week so he started last night, with crab cakes! They were delish!

Not enough time...

I talked to my college roommate K this evening for the 1st time in months and months and months (possibly over a year!)!! I loved hearing her voice! She and her beau C are finally tying the knot! They are having a low-key affair although I wish I had known sooner...we will be visiting family in Maine that weekend - boo!Talking to her really made me miss her and wish I had more time (and money) to just visit my friends and family all the time...I think that's why I loved our wedding so much...all the people we love in the same place for one evening!I have probably already posted this photo before...because it's the most recent one we have (from almost 2 years ago)...that is way too long for visits! We definitely need to make a trip up to NorCal next year!

I actually went to work for a few hours today...they have us doing this marketing thing that is kind of stressing me out...I didn't get my degree to make calls! Ugh. I did it a bit and then just gave up...I'd much rather be taking photos!

This has a been a busy summer for the Wang sisters. Unlike last summer where the younger Wang was still in her carefree house mouse days, now both ladies are hard-working and have little time for crafting! With the upcoming arrival of our new addition (a.k.a. Li'l Cash Money) we have many crafts we need to do!

So yesterday we spent punching and Slicing and gluing! All these die cuts will become a mobile for Cash Money's room! I can't wait to see how they turn out!

I love having short hair, but it seems to grow faster :)! So the time in between haircuts has to be shorter as well. Since we are flying out to Cali for a wedding next weekend, I figured I should have a new 'do for the trip! I love the way it looks here because the back hasn't gotten too long...just give it a couple weeks!

We had a girls' dinner last night...one of my friends is going through a rough patch with her hubby and we spent most of the night talking about it. I hope she is doing ok today and am sending her much love in my thoughts!

And I am off for Craft Sunday with Tingaling! Since I got home very late last night I just wasn't feeling yoga this morning, so am doing a bit of laundry and cleaning up a bit before I head off!

Hotter than Hades!

One thing about being in an ice-chest of an office...you forget how HOT it can be outside! On workdays I am outside running in the early morning hours and out when the sun is starting to come down. But running around during the day really makes me realize what 95+degree weather feels like!

I practiced yoga after seeing patients in the morning. And then stopped by TJ Maxx before getting my haircut. I used to love scouring the racks at places like TJ, Ross and Marshall's. Now when I go there I just think how much fugly clothes are out there!

I love having short hair but the only pitfall is that it needs to be cut more often. I had an appointment for Oct (before my 20 HS reunion - ack!) but decided I wanted to have some fresh hair for Annie's wedding in LA next week! I love the cut...photos to come soon.

After the haircut I stopped by Lululemon - didn't find anything I couldn't live without. And I tried to stop by Buffalo Exchange for some thrifting, but the traffic was horrible and parking non-existent on Westheimer. So I settled for going to my old fave, the Gap. I knew I wanted a pair of boyfriend jeans, which I got with and extra $20 offbut a dress caught my eye so I tried it on and now it is at home with me.I think it looks cuter in person than in the photo...I didn't even notice it when I was pre-shopping online! I am also hoping that it goes on sale in the next 2 weeks so I can get a price adjustment ;).

Now I think I am going to take a break, cool off a bit and get ready for dinner with the girls in a few hours!

Seriously uninspired

Although I was only gone for 24 hours, I feel like this week has been just a major catch up with everything week. I had some little things repaired on my car, did the usual grocery shopping, target shopping and laundry, read the usual blogs...and have been uninspired really to take photos or be crafty (i.e. scrappy!). I still have been doing the photo-a-day, they just haven't been the most creative compositions. Oh well, I think the creativity can ebb and flow. I am hoping this weekend off with jump start some scrappiness!

In other, fashion related news, Project Runway starts tonight! We are doing viewing parties at various friends' places. The first week will be at Jason and Mark's. Looking forward to it! {I'm hoping this will jump start some creativity!}

I feel like I have been really busy but really haven't been doing anything at all! What is it about sitting around the airport, waiting for a delayed flight, that is so exhausting?

I am a little behind on posting daily stuff...work is actually kind of busy, but not feeling very productive, if that makes any sense. Just stressful!

Joe and I checked out a new restaurant called Himalaya. Pakastani food. It was pretty good. The Naan was especially good! Service only ok, but luckily we got there before the rush of people!

I am actually flying to San Jose for work tomorrow. Leaving in the evening and returning Monday evening. Hopefully it will be a bit cooler out there!

The days are getting shorter...

but not any cooler or less humid! Although it did rain yesterday which helped with the heat somewhat. But I have a feeling it's going to get hot again.

Joe and I went to Pesce for dinner last night to help support Restaurant week here in Houston. My favorite course was dessert (of course!) but the fish was very good as well.

This is going to be a working weekend for me (boo!) and I am going to Cali for 24 hours for work on Monday as well (not as much boo because it's a free flight and more miles!) so posting will be boring as well as spotty. Sorry!

Fun with the fam

Not only did we hang out with Joe's old friends over the weekend, but we (well, I) hung out with the best family in the world! We didn't do much...lots of eating, talking and napping. Oh and photo snapping of course!

I survived!

Joe's 20th high school reunion, that it! They had a pretty good turnout - I think around 100 people from a class of about 250. The party raged on until the wee hours of the morning (I snuck out a bit earlier but Joe helped close it down). I met some of Joe's good friends from back in the day. And I took a few photos, including this one of all the classmates.I was feeling a bit icky by the time we arrived home yesterday and I am still feeling a bit off...running a few errands and hoping that will make me feel better!

Coolest birthday gift ever!

I can't believe I still have more photos from the weekend to post! Because Marc had so many events for his birth month I didn't get a chance to have craft Sunday with Tingaling, but we did manage to catch up for lunch on Saturday. Before lunch she gave me my belated birthday gift: original art from Roger Disney, a cool artist we saw at the Bayou City Arts festival!I love the painting so mucha and need to figure out where the best place to display it in our house. Thanks Tingaling...love you tons!

Birthday boy

So much of this weekend was spent celebrating Marc's birthday. He is one of my favorite boys ever and such a fabulous friend. Over the last couple weeks he has taken the plunge to open his own office and has been a bit stressed about it, but I am sure business will pick up with time.

So what did we do? On Sat after my haircut the boys were alreayd at Kurt and Mike's so I headed over there for some bbq.I also met Cooper, the 3rd cutest dog I know (behind Ruby and LuLu of course!) Unlike the other 2, Cooper is all eyes for the camera - didn't have trouble photographing him at all!

That night we all met at Absinthe for drinks. On Sunday morning my gams were incredibly sore from my heels and I was cramping something awful, but I did eventually come back to life and make it to yoga. We spent the afternoon poolside at Club Rue.Yesterday was Marc's actual birthday so we met at La Griglia for some wine (I am having issues with uploading photos to FB...hopefully they will be worked out by this evening!)
This weekend we are heading up north for Joe's 20th high school reunion! Should be interesting!

Up!

Last night Greg and I saw Up. It was probably one of my favorite movies of the year! I laughed, I cried, I LOVED it! I loved it even more because it had scrapbooking in it! I feel like the last person on the planet to have seen it, but I'm glad I finally did!

My friend Greg had the summer off (one of the perks of being a teacher) but is going back next week so we decided to take advantage and go to ZaZa one last time. It was hot and not rainy at all and I was a bit tired so I didn't take that many photos, but it was still nice to sit by the pool for a bit.

I have been addicted to all things pink lately. Shorts, skirts, tops, shoes, you name it - I probably have it! This is the Leanne Marshall top I purchased from Bluefly. I love it! It is so comfy and can be worn with any color, but I especially love it with these pink bermudas and killer heels.

This is what I wore last night for Marc's birthday. I will post more photos of the night when I am less tired.

I am really enjoying taking photos of my outfits...not because I am that narcassictic, but I like coming up with cool things to wear and I want to remember what was popular. I wish I had these types of photos back in my high school and college days!

Early morning

I love the possibilities of the morning: waking up, making a mental to do list, enjoying the quiet. I love these things even more when I have a whole weekend off!{Thinking of being off from work: I can't decide if work is more stressful when we are super busy or super slow...the recession has finally been hitting H-town over the last few months and it is quite evident at my practice. But I guess I must keep on keepin' on.}

Anyhoo, I took a break from running this morning but still work up early. I don't like to break my routine, even on the weekends, because it makes it that much harder to get back into the swing of things come Tuesday morning. Joe was up already by 5 AM so he made me a nice fresh cup of coffee.He is going on superlong bike ride with some of his triathlon buddies today so he spent most of the morning getting ready. He left about an hour ago and is actually riding his bike to meet his friends, so even being a little green while exercising!{Yes, he is looking a little skinny these days...he is really focused on doing well in Arizona come November}
My plan for today? See patients for about 1 hour, practice yoga, have lunch with Tinger, get my hair highlighted, meet Joe for manis and pedis and rest before Marc's bday party tonight! And hopefully document the day in photos, as usual!
