Today is a day when you just want to be inside because the moment you walk outside the sweat starts dripping all over! And summer isn't even technically here yet!

We made a couple stops this morning after yoga: (well, actually we were going to Williams Sonoma, but since Anthro is right next door I couldn't resist going in!).

I am super excited for this store to open. Besides windown shopping for clothes, I love window shopping for cute paper goods!

I really should not enter this store because I never leave without buying something. I was actually a nice girl and bought the hubs a new pair of yoga shorts and I got myself a pair of yoga pants (at least they were on sale!).

One year ago this date, I posted my first wardrobe remix to Flickr. I didn't start blogging my outfits regularly until this year really and now it's become a mild obsession!

This is what I wore. I wouldn't say that my style has changed all that much over the last year but I am definitely wearing more color as well as less jeans (I don't think I've worn a pair since April!). I am also appreciating a good belt much more as well. And since I have been wearing regular clothes to work as opposed to scrubs I have been definitely taking advantage of the contents of my crowded closet.

My friend's birthday party last night was great. I took over 200 photos in the span of about 5 hours...I hope they like the snaps!

Can't sleep so I'll post instead

This is what I wore to a dear friend's 40th birthday party last night. I realize it's the same dress I wore to mine, but it's too fabulous not to wear more often. Because its length is not too scandalous, I am going to do a work remix for this dress here soon!

I went with more casual sandals since the dress of the party was "summer casual" and since I developed a big blister on my left big toe from wearing my clogs sans socks the other day. I was also in charge of taking photos of the party so I wanted to be as comfy as possible, although by the end of the night my legs were still pretty tired!

And I am up before the sun is out even though I didn't get to bed until 1:30 this morning because my internal body clock wants to be up. Fortunately I started drinking water at about 9:30 last night so I am not hungover, just extremely tired and unable to sleep. I think a nap will be in order this afternoon!

Debut

My new bag is so pretty I am almost afraid to use it...so I decided to bust it out today, a Saturday that I have to work, just to make up for the having to work part.

I have worn this outfit before, but with different shoes. I really didn't want to wear these flats, even though the Summer Black-Out allows for black accessories, but I don't have any other matching flats. Unfortunately I can't wear cute heels to work today because my clogs from yesterday have given me a blister on my right toe and any undue pressure causes it to hurt even more. The things we do for fashion...

Isn't she a beauty?

I admit, I am a sucker for a fabulous designer bag. I don't mind shopping at Target and Old Navy for my clothes, but a nice bag goes a long way. This bag is made even nicer by 1) being on sale (yes, Gucci has an annual sale in June!) and 2) being friends withe the GM of our Gucci store here in H-town! So this beauty is in my grabby hands for 65% off original retail. Granted, she's still not cheap, but I will love her forever!

2 for 1

In an effort to maximize my wardrobe and minimize my need to shop, I am participating in not 1 but TWO different wardrobe challenges this week!

The first is the Summer Black-Out, hosted by Sal. The challenge is no black clothes from Monday June 7 to Monday June 14. This is actually pretty straight-forward, since summer months typically mean, for me at least, brighter colors in my clothes.

The second is the Summer Capsule Wardrobe, hosted by Jane. I just realized this challenge started on Friday June 4th, so I am behind - oops! Her challenge is a bit more difficult: 5 items of clothing for one week (or in my case, 5 day: from Monday June 7 to Friday June 11) with unlimited accessories and shoes. {ETA: I am not crazy after all; the challenge is really only 5 day 6/7-6/11, so I am right on track!}

I am taking the easy route with this second challenge: I have chosen 3 tops (grey ruffle tank, cream colored blouse and peachy-pink top) and 2 bottoms (brownish pants and brown skirt). All these items have been previously worn. Hopefully my peeps at work won't notice I am wearing the same things this week!

A whole lotta nothing

Joe and I ran a 5K in the Heights on Saturday morning. And while I still don't run very fast I hit a PR (as did Joe - just over 19 minutes!).

Don't know if you can tell, but it's feeling like a sauna outside these days and we are much sweatier in the after shot!

I also had a photoshoot with the most adorable family in the world.

He is just so cute! He really has the sweetest disposition.

And I love his expression in this photo...like, "are we done already?!?"

While shooting this pose, he was propping himself up on his arms and trying his best to move around! Didn't quite succeed, but he is going to be mobile before we know it!

Today walking outside felt even more like a sauna. On days like this getting motivated to dress cutely yet weather appropriate can be difficult. That's why I have declared this to be the summer of the sundress Sunday. What could be easier than throwing on a dress and a pair of sandals? Add some cool shades and I'm all set!dress: Loft, remix'd

Summer shoes

Ladies and gentlemen...stop the presses...we have a confirmed shopaholic who is...a little tired of shopping! I feel like I have been going a wee bit crazy over the past few months. And I am actually a bit disinterested in shopping...for clothes that is! I have taken to deleting many shopping emails in the inbox before looking at them.

I just got a cool new pair of black summer wedges and am still on the look out for some more nude shoes, but otherwise I am over it!

But I find that if I tell myself I can NOT do something, I really want to do it. So I am not officially declaring a shopping bam, I am just declaring a summer-of-finding-some-more-fabulous shoes. Maybe 2 pair.

Of course all bets are off when we take our trip to NYC in July, but that's over 6 weeks away!

Unfortunately I have to work today, but I did take the afternoon off so we can enjoy the weekend in Lake Travis! Some friends rented a party boat, which we have done many years in the past but stopped a few years ago. We have peeps coming in from Boston as well as some old high school peeps joining us so I can't wait!

I bought these pants at least 5 years ago and still adore them. Over the last 3 years I haven't really worn them much, but since I have been wearing normal clothes to work now, I have rediscovered how much I love them. I would wear them everyday if I could! They are the Express Editor pants and while Express still makes these pants, they don't come in as interesting colors anymore! I mean, how many black, grey, or khaki pants does one person need? Give me more colors please!

Dresses are the best - just throw on, add a few accessories and you are good to go! I also really love these shoes, but they are on their last leg. Who knew red pumps could be so versatile?

Sensible shoes

I had a $10+$5 birthday coupon from DSW burning a hole in my pocket, so I went after CE last night. I am really looking for a cool pair of wedges for the summer, but didn't find any to fit the bill. I decided to buy some comfy shoes to wear to work instead.

I went over to my sister's to watch the peanut while she went to her periodonist this morning, hence the late post and different back drop. It was probably the easiest babysitting job ever: get there, play with JJ, Mom puts JJ down, Mom goes to dr., I play on computer while Mom is gone, Mom comes back in 20 minutes! He's growing like a weed and even has 2 little teeth coming in!

OMG

The finale exceeded my expectations and I cried like a baby throuhout. What is really important? The connections we make to each other and our love for one another. People. I am beyond devastated that it's over...
