I've been feeling perpetually behind this week; on what I am not sure. I guess spending the one weekend day I had off in Austin just threw off my schedule a bit. I am looking forward to a whole lotta nothing this weekend.

My hubs is such a good man. Even though I said no gifts on love day, he gave me some anyways.

This lotus flower necklace, made by my dear friend Lauren, the amazing person behind Collignon Designs is going to be a new favorite, I can already tell. My collection of her pieces is growing and I love it!


And I love tulips, especially pink ones! They will brighten up the house this week.

Early sunsets are putting a cramp in my daily outfit photos! I completely forget to snap a photo at lunch so I had to resort using my flash after work. Which is why I look more crumpled than usual. {Note to self: take photos earlier tomorrow!}


My take on trends are usually not too trendy. This shirt is from 2008 and still works well. See more trends at Megan or Keely.

I have been less than inspired with my blog lately. While I still love wearing pretty clothes, even taking outfit photos have felt like a chore. I am not quite sure what I want to do, but I am thinking it's time to mix things up, kind of like Tabitha or Clare. And since I take a long time to do anything, this change won't be immediate. Please bear with me.

I am a little brain dead this morning and at a loss for words. Shocking, I know. It must be the heat.


This skirt was one of my first purchases when I returned home from India. I love when Loft has those extra 40-50% off sale items :) I also love that almost any color can be worn with it and look good.

Woo hoo - we are at the end! This last outfit is nothing to write home about, just something simple and comfy with fun shoes.


These shorts are seriously the most comfortable I own. I imagine I will be pulling them out soon even though the remix challenge is "over." I guess every day you shop your closet instead of the store for something new you are remixing so it's never technically over; you just have more than 30 items to choose from.

One good thing about working in Austin is that I can repeat bold outfits more often. I wouldn't wear this dress more than once a month, maybe twice, but only in front of a different audience.


I love the print, but it's not quite subtle. So now I have worn it not twice but three times, but each wearing was for another crowd. Do you shy away from repeating the same outfit in front of the same people?

In other, fashion-related news, I received my What I Wore book yesterday. It's really fun and I love all of Jessica's drawings.

Being away has made me appreciate the creature comforts of home, such as taking a regular shower and having air conditioning.


I have also enjoyed exploring my closet again. Skirts have definitely been the work theme last week (this outfit is from Friday).


I do, however, have to strategize when I can wear heels, as they tighten up the leg muscles and getting into the asanas a bit more challenging. I guess I shouldn't complain if wearing heels or flats is the most difficult decision of my day!


I bought this tank a few years back specifically to wear with the striped cardi, but it has proved to be much more versatile than I originally imagined.

I haven't reused many items in my 30 for 30 during work yet, but next week will start the real remixing. I was tempted to wear the same skirt as yesterday, wondered if any one would notice (and if they did, would they say anything?), decided against it and wore brown instead.

August is here and in full force - heat, humidity and mosquitos! This is my first full work week since the end of June so it is going to be a chore to get in the swing of things! I am going for a breakfast cupcake this morning to ease the pain of returning to the office :)

Playing hookey, part deux

What are the odds that I would be called for jury duty twice in one year?!? The last time I was called was to the municipal court which apparently doesn't make you exempt from being summoned from the county court. So I went for my service, which consisted of sitting in the jury assembly hall from 8-11AM until they let us go. Sometimes I almost wish my number would be picked so I could see how the process actually works, but I also don't mind having the rest of the afternoon off!

I started the day off right with a healthy and delicious breakfast prepared by my own personal chef, a.k.a. the hubs. Don't you love the heart shaped eggs?

While I was waiting for the bus to take me home (the hubs was unavailable to chauffer me back although he was kind enough to drop me off!), I took some snaps of downtown. We used to hang out here a lot back in the day (probably almost 10 years ago!) but don't anymore. The light rail construction kind of put a damper on the businesses down here and by the time it was completed everyone found someplace else to go!

OOTD (finally)

Since I have graduated from wearing scrubs to wearing regular clothes to work, I have been trying to incorporate my "casual" wardrobe into my "working" wardrobe. I want to wear clothes I like to work as well as to play!

This is what I wore to breakfast with my birthday boy. The Patrick Robinson line with Target has been one of my favorite collaborations (right behind the amazing Liberty of London patterns!). And I figured out that tucking in the tunic made it perfect to wear to work!

I am in serious need of a haircut. My hair doesn't necessarily grow that much longer but it gets that much fluffier! I have an appointment on Tuesday (we get that extra day off for the holiday instead of tomorrow)...can't come too soon!

Sometimes I can get a remix photo in a few shots, sometimes it takes 30. I like using my SLR because of the crisper photos I get, but sometimes getting myself in focus takes much longer.

but more often than not I end up like this! Talk about frustrating! I guess all I can do is keep shooting.

I have a couple outfit that I failed to post since the computer crash. Luckily it wasn't a crash, just a dislodged video card that my IT dept was able to fix in a jiffy!

In the April Anthropologie catalog was the cutest yellow polka dotted skirt by Leifsdottier, called the coming and going skirt. I love the ruffle details on it as well. I didn't love the $198 price tag. When I discovered this pink skirt in my sister's closet, I knew I found a great substitute. And best of all, it was free! {Let me know when you want it back ;)}

I know I said I wasn't shopping anymore, but with the hubs out of town, I was a bit bored. Gap was having an extra 25% off all sale items, so I picked up 4 belts all for under $10 each! And the cute button down was on sale for $12 so I got 3 different colors (I figured they would be worn quite a bit for work and would be a good light layering piece for the summer). The shoes were puchased a few weeks ago and I love them. I guess I should wear a skirt to show off the wedge/bootie aspect.

We'll see if I can get it together this morning to post a current OOTD...but I'm not making any promises :)
