Although we were sad to leave NYC on Tuesday, we have lots going on this week. I actually took Wednesday and today off from work, mainly because we were seeing Madonna last night!


I obsessively bought pre-sale VIP tickets back in February, which were insanely costly, but you only live once, right?


The VIP tickets included a pre-party with food, drinks as well as a "swag" bag that had inside a tee, program, as well as sample of her new perfume.


Our seats were unfortunately not in the "golden triangle" but in the 3rd row.


She looked and sounded amazing!


And I have never gotten more compliments on my hair, from friends at the show as well as FB peeps after I posted my pics.

Mondays are hard

Getting up before the sun comes up always seems to be harder on Mondays. Maybe our bodies are missing the relaxation of the weekend? At any rate, here's to hoping for a gentle day back to work for you as well as for me :)

Returning back to my normal schedule after a vacation always takes a few days. Because I have so much I should do, I end up not doing anything and watching Master Chef on the DVR instead. Yes, I am the world's worst procrastinator.

Although Melissa has mentioned that she is taking a bit of a blogging break, I am still enjoying doing the month of pink challenge. I am not sure I could do this with any other color of the rainbow.

The hubs and I went shopping for Halloween supplies. We hope to go all out this year. How about you?

Think Pink

Happy October! This is the 2nd year I will be participating in Melissa's Blogging for Breast Cancer Awearness,or BBCA, challenge. The goal, for me, is to wear pink everyday in October. And, if you know me at all, you know this shouldn't be much of a challenge at all (although I have less pink in my closet than you might think!). My real challenge this month is to blog more real-time outfits. I think I was running a week behind!

Apparently this was a wear-Target-collaborations weekend. Before there was Missoni there were so many other amazing collections at the Targ, of which clothes I have amassed aplenty. YOu can't tell from this photo but the flowers in this dress have just a touch of light pink in them.

I am excited for the 5 weekend in October because even though I am working this morning, I have another weekend off coming up. Here's to a fabulous week.

A lost/forgotten piece

We spent all day yesterday with friends and lots of food. Oh yes, and a movie thrown in for good measure. The Debt was as exciting as its trailers and proved that you don't have to be a Megan Fox or Angelina Jolie to carry a big film. Oh, and I am super excited that today is technically my labor day and I have another day off from work. I guess I should do more productive.

I have been less than inspired with my blog lately. While I still love wearing pretty clothes, even taking outfit photos have felt like a chore. I am not quite sure what I want to do, but I am thinking it's time to mix things up, kind of like Tabitha or Clare. And since I take a long time to do anything, this change won't be immediate. When designer jeans were all the rage a few years back, I obsessed about buying some True Religions. I found these for a song at a sample sale during one of our NYC visits. They fit perfectly and make me feel long and skinny, which is what a good pair of jeans should do.


As much as I love skinny jeans, nothing is more flattering to me than a good pair of bootcut jeans. Especially for chicks with muscular thighs like myself!

It's hard to believe that August is already half over. I try not to even wish for cooler weather until mid-September. We have not been getting a break from the heat and humidity at all this season. Our poor lawn is so sad and dry. After the movie on Sunday we got a sprinkling of rain, but it was just a tease. I am envious of all the bloggers up north who seem to be experiencing a taste of temperatures to come. At least us girls in the South still have lots of time to wear all the fun sundresses we bought this summer :)!

The hubs wanted to retake this photo because I "wasn't looking at the camera." I guess I need to work on my I-am-a-cool-fashion-blogger pose and look :)


I got this skirt in the Fall of '09 (thank you Gap and Old Navy for keeping track of when you make your clothes!) and it has proven to be very versatile, no matter what the temperatures outside. I like how these 2 photos demonstrate the changing of the seasons. We do have them here in Houston, some just last longer than others.

Good morning sunshine!

You know you are an early bird when waking up at 7 AM feels like sleeping in! Last night we had the honor of celebrating on of my besties last year in his 30s.

He is one of those people who make you feel like you are the most important person in the world when you talk to him, hence everyone thinks he is their best friend. And my world is definitely better for knowing him. Happy birthday cutie!

I wore a new dress to his party. It was on super-sale at Anthro so I couldn't resist.

It is a shift dress and runs rather large (I am wearing in XS and I am not an XS person) but is super comfortable for the summer, machine-washable, and looks great with a belt. I think it could even be work appropriate with a cardi thrown over.


Note to self: remember that celebrities always put at least one hand on their hip when taking photos of a sleeveless outfit - helps define the shoulder and get rid of arm fat!

Woo hoo - we are at the end! This last outfit is nothing to write home about, just something simple and comfy with fun shoes.


These shorts are seriously the most comfortable I own. I imagine I will be pulling them out soon even though the remix challenge is "over." I guess every day you shop your closet instead of the store for something new you are remixing so it's never technically over; you just have more than 30 items to choose from.

A recap will be coming tomorrow. We will be on our way to Maine today to visit Joe's family. I am looking forward the a relaxing vacation.

This is an old run-down take out place on the outskirts of our neighborhood. Now I just need to work on the hubs' photog skills and my modeling skills ;)

I am on my 25th outfit here and still have a few empty spaces in my 30 items. I haven't decided if I will just leave them out or just wearing something new everyday from here on out. I guess you'll just have to wait and see!
