TGIF

So this month I will pretty much have every weekend off!!! I can't believe it - so happy about that. Now that's a little thing that makes me happy. I think one of the reasons I like my job but don't LOVE my job is the work hours. I understand why we need to, but that doesn't make me have to like it anyways. I accept that we have to, but again, that doesn't make me have to like it. So I am definitely going to be appreciating my birthday month!

Joe and I had a low key anniversary celebration today. I just made him a layout for a little gift (we said no gifts this year). He got me some tulips and a new, bigger camera bag! He said it wasn't technically a gift, since I needed it. But very sweet nonetheless. That's my boy (sweet, unless he's slamming the door when he thinks you're talking too loud on the phone. Sometimes it can't be helped, especially when Lost throws you for a loop!!!).

Not working out is starting to get to me. I feel soft and out of shape. I am so ready to do some cardio!! But I do like how it frees up my morning to surf and blog! I also need to work on my art journal, so bye for now!

First day of May!

My birthday month! Goodness, the year has gone by so quickly! I'm not going to be bloggin' for the next 2 days - going to Austin to sub for Dr. B for a couple days. The travel is kind of a pain, but I think the work will be slightly easier than here (I hope!).

So no Art Journal for the next few days either. I'll think of things I want to keel clean and the catch up when I get back. No biggie.

No AI party either! Man, this work thing is interfering with my life!

Update: I don't have to fly to Austin until tomorrow morning since they don't open the office until 10am. So play time at home for now!

I need to get massages more often!!

Joe and I did our annual anniversary couples massage today. 80 minutes of pure relaxation. LOVED it! Afterwards, I was a little foggy - like I just woke up or something. But it felt great.

Today is the first official day of my Art Journal. Mine is very simplistic, but that's ok. And of course I won't be home next Tues or Wed so I'm not sure how I should do it. I guess I'll play it by ear.

Overall it's been a good, relaxing day.

I have even got some scrappin' done. I made a layout for Joe for our 4th anniversary this Thursday. We have been keeping our celebration low key this year - no gifts and nothing too lavish. Just the massages. But I will probably buy some flowers on Thurs as well as get a card. That can be my project during my Austin trip.

Saturday, April 29, 2006

So I am finally starting my 21 Day Art Journal Challenge. Just using a small Bazzill zippered scrapbook to make little notes on how I want to be neater by the time I turn 35. Tomorrow will be the first official day and it will end on my bday. We will be in LA at that time so I will probably have to finish it a bit early, but I thought this would be a good thing to bring in my new year with. I collect so much stuff and we have so much random clutter. The clutter has definitely been pared down - most of it is just scrapping stuff now!

I have really been inspired to scrap today. Probably the bad weather this morning. I didn't even shower until 10AM - very late for me! I made a layout for mom and dad for mom's and dad's day, respectively. I already finished a China layout for the 'rents. Need to do some journaling for it, but it's done otherwise.

I also got the QVC Heidi Swapp All About Me album. It's missing 4 pages but otherwise in good shape. Not bad for more than half price ($9.99 + shipping vs 26.99). I am feeling like working on it, even though I'm not in the mood for journalling yet. Update: I have every page. Found them as I was working on it. Even better!

That's been my day. Fairly uneventful. Like I like it!

Music memories...

I love VH1 classics. They play cool old songs. Some relatively common. But some are more obscure. I love knowing the obscure songs. I would really like to make a scrapbook/journal of the songs that I love. From my first Abba tape to my latest Shapeshifters CD. It would be more of a journal I guess. Too many songs to remember. But I associate many memories to what I was listening to. I guess that means I have an audio memory??

Shower Time!!

Today is the 3 week anniversary of my bunionectomy. And I took a shower for the first time since 3 weeks ago! It was bittersweet, however. I can tell I am entering the more difficult phase of my healing. I'm feeling much better and mobile first of all. But looking at my foot, which I can now do, I can tell it's not nearly healed yet. Maybe about 60%. But the skin around the stitches isn't fully sealed and the wound bled a little this morning. That just made it feel more painful. So in the shower I was standing very gingerly on my foot.

I know Dr. L would tell me to bear weight on it as normally as possible, which is what I have been doing. Still gimping along a bit but making progress. But just looking at my foot kind of grosses me out. I'm glad to be able to wash if finally! I just need to take it easy as much as possible now so that I will recover more quickly. I definitely don't like having to wrap it myself - I don't want to see it until it's fully healed!

No more stitches!

Yay! I got 11 stitches taken out this morning. And I am wearing tennis shoes again! Woo Hoo. My footie still somewhat swollen but getting better. And tomorrow I will be able to take a shower!! woo hoo even more!!! Taking baths is for the birds!!!

I may have to work in Austin in Sat. NOT happy about that, but not much I can do. At least I will have Sunday and Monday off. Work is not too fun these days. Struggling to make our numbers this month.

Mom is taking care of 2 little kids this month. Some friends of theirs in their choir is sick, got a liver transplant and is still in the hospital in Dallas. Hopefully she'll be able to give them back soon. Maybe this will quell her desire for grandbabies!!

Feeling kind of blah right now. Not bad just not feeling like doing anything. Lots of random thoughts in my head....

Unlikely inspiration...

...as I am getting ready for work this morning, it hits me. I am going to be 35 in less than one month!!! Good lord, where does the time go. I still feel like I am about 25 (except when it's after midnight. If I'm still awake, I usually feel like I'm 105!). So I thought I would collect 35 random facts (obsessions) about me. 5-9 per week until we are there.

35. I obssess about my eyebrows, or lack thereof. I am forever trying to shape them but it's an impossible feat, since I hardly have any to shape. What really kills me about them is that they grow DOWNWARDS. What is a girl supposed to do about that?

34. When I was younger I used to love keeping lists of everything. I still do, but most of those lists are in my head. Sometimes they get logged on the computer somewhere. The funniest thing I used to keep track of is what make-up my teen magazines where using. Maybelline, Revlon, etc. What color, etc. I was a weird, geeky child.

33. I have the worst handwriting in the world, bar none. Terrible. I can hardly read it myself sometimes. I attribute it to writing too much in optometry school. Looking at my notes the 1st and 2nd years, they were actually legible. Now, I have to write v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y in order to make it half readable. This is something I really need to work on.

32. I am terrible at keeping up with the news. US and world. History doesn't interest me at all. I usually just get annoyed when I hear about whatever is going on. I feel like I should keep better informed.

31. I have a million (well maybe not a million, but a lot) of different lipsticks, glosses, you name it. I rarely wear it daily. My go to is the blue Chapstick. Love it.

30. I often think of what I would do if we won the lottery. Mind you, I never actually buy a ticket, but I like to think of what I could do if money were not an issue.

All for now. Heigh ho heigh ho.

Update: I forgot, work doesn't start until 9 this morning! one more whole hour to play!

Ugh!

I went to the most BORING CE ever last night - about RGP bifocal fits - woo hoo. At least it was free and bring me 2 hours closer to finishing (I have done 6 hours now, only 10 to go!). But when I got home, the DVR didn't record AI!!! I was most distressed and didn't sleep very well (but I don't think that was because of the missed recording - it's difficult to sleep immediately upon returning home). Hopefully we can go to Richard's tonight and watch yesterday and today's episode.

I did see many peeps from Opt school there - all Asians of course. I sat and caught up with Doris Chao (although her last name may be different - she got married in October). Sweet girl. But it's weird, I just don't like hanging out with that many Asians. I have particular people I'm friends with who are Asian and at Cal almost my whole group was Asian, but I didn't think of them that way. It's a weird deal. Yes, call me a banana, Twinkie, whatever. Maybe that's what I really am (yellow on the outside, white on the inside - hee hee). Outside of school none of my friends here in Houston are Asian, except for Joey's girlfriend Linh, and do I really hang out with her? This was an issue I wrestled with a lot at Cal, but now it's like whatever. I'll hang out with you if I like you. I think Asians in big groups tend to grate on my nerves. I guess I'll get over it.

Got some pics in the mail from Snapfish. Need to scrap for Mom and Dad. Cathy Z had a good idea of uploading and printing pics once a month. I should do that so I always have some to scrap. Then no excuses. What I really want to do is use up some of my supplies so I don't feel bad for getting new ones!

Monday again

I just got back from a CE with Dr. C. Not too exciting, but I need to get those hours in!

Yesterday was a whirlwind day. After T made breakfast (scones and omelets, yum!) I actually got to the gym and lifted weights for almost an hour. It made me remember how I don't really like lifting weights anymore, but I felt kind of tough working out with my gimpy foot. And it was good to get the blood pumping. I probably won't lift again until Wednesday (maybe), when I have more time to come home and take a bath.

After Joe and T got back from flying with James, we went to the Astros game. The Enron tickets Joe wins are about 4-5 rows about the home dugout, so they are really good seats. We average about 1 game per season, which is enough baseball to last me for the whole year! We actually saw a home run and 3 runners batted in during the 2nd inning, so the game was pretty exciting.

We left the game after the 7th inning and made our way to Berry Hill. Many beers and crack-ritas later, we ended up at Hue before finally coming home around 9 pm. I was fairly grumpy by this point since we hadn't had anything to eat since lunch. After takeout from Barnaby's we crashed. Luckily I had 2.5 things of water at Hue so I was feeling tired this morning, but my head wasn't hurting at all.

Work was steady but not crazy today. I am worried about making our ###s....This is stressing me out somewhat and will probaby until the end of the week. At least I have next weekend off!

One more CE tomorrow night with Dr.C. Woo hoo - can't wait to learn about those rgps!

I did get some fun mail today. An invite to Seth and Jill's wedding in June. Unfortunately we probably won't go, but they sent a really cute one. And also the QVC ALL About me album. Missing about 4 pages, but at $10 + shipping, certainly a better deal than $27+shipping. Hopefully they will have all 4 albums on clearance!

Night night.

One more day...

until I get a break. Whew, work has been long. We haven't been crazy busy as usual, which is good in the sense that I don't come home completely exhausted. But which is bad because next week is the last week and we really need to kick it into high gear to make our numbers. We definitely need my bonus next month so we can play in LA!

I love CZ's new book. It's awesome. I love her design, her journalling. Everything. As much as I love Elsie Flannigan's look, doodling, etc, my real design belongs to CZ. I'm definitely a neat, clean line kind of girl. And that's ok. I would like to branch some more, but I won't forget my roots.

Over and out for now.

9.09 pm
I am officially old. It's only nine at night and I'm ready for bed. The day wasn't all that exhausting, but as I get older, I'm liking to sleep more. I really would like to scrap, but it's hard with Travis staying here.

I am also offically feeling like a slug. No workouts in TWO WEEKS!!! That's record for me (aside from being on vacation). I hope I'm eating a bit less, but that's doubtful. I really wanted to do a weight work out tomorrow but I don't know that I will have time. We'll see.

Travis did cook a yummy chicken marsala tonight. Man, we are getting spoiled.

I think it's time for bed...

One tired chickee

...is me. I woke up this morning around 4 am and my foot was killing me. The weather outside was horrible as well - storming like crazy. Joe said my foot was probably hurting because of the weather. Maybe so maybe not, but I took a vicoden tonight just to make sure I would sleep.

One reason I had a hard time sleeping is cause after reading CZ's book, I was thinking of all the scrap projects I want to do!

I am working on my A-Z album, but all that journaling is hard to do. I am going to be working slowly on that one.

Now speaking of vicoden, I am starting to feel somewhat groggy. I may just hit the hay a bit earlier tonight.

Travis made us a yummy tortilla soup. I was very impressed!

Part 2!!

I got my book today! I am SO excited about it. Cathy Z is probably one of the most inspirational scrapbookers out there, for me at least. I love her philosophy and her incredible design. I am most happy to get this book today. I will be devouring it shortly.

I also got my Scrapbooks Etc. mag today. (CK actually came around the 15th, a bit earlier this month).

Travis is in town tonight visiting, so the boys are off to the Social for a drinkie. So I have time to enjoy for myself!

Time to read...

I am so shallow

I know Ace wasn't the best singer, but AI won't be the same without him. I just like having a pretty face to look at. Is that so wrong???

Mom and me..

I thought this was a good blog challenge. 5 similarities and 5 differences between me and my mom. I find it funny that I can almost immediately pick out a million differences, but it's hard to see the similarities. For one, my mom is a neat freak and likes things to be clean and out of the way. I like things to be clean and out of the way, but I don't go out of my way to clean! She throws everything and anything out. I am such a pack rat. I think it's a result of Mom always throwing things out (and I get that from my dad).

Mom had no interest in scrapbooking whatsoever. I love it. I love taking pictures, preserving memories... you name it!

Mom had babies when she was 24. I can't even imagine it. I am ten years older than that and still no babies. I am working on Joe because I would like to change that in the next few years, but I still feel like a baby myself!

Mom is a get things done kind of woman. I am a procrastinator (again, like Dad). I need to work on that.

And lastly, running is my best form of cardio. Mom's got bad knees and can't run much. But she is insane about her workouts. I can be too, but definitely not like Mom.

Actually this is making me think of things that we are alike in. We both love to read. She's been doing a lot more now that she's retired.

We both practice yoga. She encouraged me a few years ago, but I haven't really been serious about it until this past year. Now I'm addicted.

We're both working woman. The one thing Mom drilled into Ting and I when we were growing up is that we needed to be self-sufficient and not depend on any person (i.e. man) to live. I think she saw a lot of our neighbors going through divorces (and mostly with the wives being SAHMs) and she never wanted us to be in such a difficult situation. For that I am forever grateful.

We both love to travel. I have been fortunate because I have been all over the world, thanks to my parents. Let's see, North America, Europe, Asia and Africa are the continents I have visited. I would like to put South America and Australia/New Zealand on that list!

And lastly we both love our families the most. She doesn't verbalize it in so many words, but my mom has always made me feel loved. I've tried not to disappoint her too much and sometimes not always succeeded, but through think and thin she's always been there for me. I can't imagine not having someone like her (and dad) to always count on.

I guess that was easier than I thought. I know she's not reading this right now, but I'll say it anyways. I love you Mom.

100th post!!

Wow, I think this blogging thing is kind of addictive.

AI was great tonight. Everyone did pretty well except Pickler. Ace was back - I really loved his performance tonight. So it's going to be a tough call....

We are having some drama about LA and the Madonna tickets. Cindy works for LiveNation, who is sponsoring her tour. She thinks she can get 4 good tickets, possibly even together, but we are torn whether or not to take the rist. We are trying to probe her for information, but it's hard to be subtle.

In foot news, I have actually walked a little without the damn boot on. That thing is hurting my heel because it's too big now! I will be looking forward to getting the stitches out, although I'm kind of scared how my foot will look.

Good night!

What to blog?

Nothing too exciting going on these days. We spent the better part of yesterday with James, Val and Lori. James was helping Joe get our TV and stereo hooked up correctly. Entertaining Lori wasn't too hard - luckily she likes to go outside and play by herself!

It's weird - all I think about these days is scrapping. When can I and what should I? I also want to participate in the 21-day challenge next time Rhonna has one. Right now I am planning some layouts for Mom and Dad's days. I also want to make a mini album for Joe for our anniversary. This year we are not doing presents, but making something doesn't count.

Work is busy as usual. We are having our CD/Doc meeting tonight so I won't be home until late. Blah!

Guess I better get to it...

The early bird....

is just up early. I'm surprised I am sleeping so well because usually when I don't exercise I don't sleep as soundly. I'm not missing the working out as much as I thought I would. A little rest never hurt anyone, I guess.

Today is going to be a pretty busy day at work. I'm not dreading it so much since I've only been back for 3 days, but by next week I'm sure I'll be over it. I think the main thing I don't like about having to work is that I'd rather be scrappin' - sounds silly, but true. I am working on my Random Me project but I have other things I need to do to. I guess my first order of business should be some layouts for Mom, for Mom's day. I should probably make some for dad's day too.

We're having dinner with our boys tonight at El Pueblito. Should be fun!

One week anniversary

Of my bunion surgery! I am walking with a slight limp because I am favoring the outside of my left foot and this is causing my left leg to ache in weird places. So I am going to walk on my WHOLE foot today (or at least try to!). I'm feeling really guilty for not working out, but am not feeling as physically gross as I thought I would. Maybe because walking is still a bit of a chore. And bathing is definitely a pain in the a$$.

Good thing is that I am getting a bit of scrapping done. I have finished my 3 year-in-review layouts that I planned. They are all fairly similar, but with tiny little twists. I am pretty happy with them. Now I have some gifts I want to make - a mini album for Joe for our anniversary, a few gift layouts for mom's album for mother's day as well as gift album for Ting's bday. That's a lot of stuff to do in a little time. Got to get cracking!

I am also doing a random me album as well as wanting to do the 21 day challenge, but right now am still short on time. I wish I could function on 5 hours of sleep, but I love me some sleep sleep sleep!

Getting better

I seem to be navigating better and better every day. Work yesterday wasn't too bad. By the end of the day my foot was aching pretty well, but otherwise I was ok!

This morning I am being inspired by my Random Me scrapping class. I really don't want to spend too much $$ but I need to buy albums for the book. I will probably get some cheap 2-ups from Target (love it!). But I am not motivated to go by there and look. Maybe over the weekend...

I would also like to make my sister something for her 30th (!!) bday. Haven't decided what or how yet...need to work on that as well.

Lots of projects on my mind. Now to actually do them is a different story!

Bye for now!

Wednesday, April 12, 2006

Hi ho hi ho, it's off to work I go!

Welll, the foot is feeling better...no excuse not to go back to work! I am dreading the walking a bit, but I think it will be ok. Having the last 5 days off has been very very nice, but I am feeling a bit stir crazy and sort of ready to get back to it! I will just be working the next 11 days in a row, which I am NOT looking forward to, but I think I will manage, as I always do.

Nothing too exciting going on right now. I'm not sure when work starts - I'm pretty sure it's 9 am, but I guess I should call Matt in a bit to make sure!

Hope it's not too crazy today...

2 peas challenge:
chocolate or vanilla? chocolate all the way
sandals or barefoot? sandals - preferably flip flips
basic grey or scenic route? hmmm, BG
primas or HS flowers? hmmm, HS
computer journaling or handwritten? computer - I have the worst, most illegible handwriting ever
Madonna or Gwen Stefani? as much as I love Gwen, I would never pay the $$ to see her like I do for Madge, who is fabulous
Leno or Conan? neither (I am usually asleep by the time they come on!)
Koolaid or Crystal Lite? neither- water please!
American Idol or Amazing Race? Idol Idol Idol!
catlover or doglover? doglover, although I do not have any pets and, with the arrival of our new sofa, probably never will...

Almost recovered

So I am walking better on my foot. It still aches, but I'm not quite as gimpy as yesterday.

I am so ready to take a shower - unfortunately that would be hard with my foot wrapped like it is. Mom washed my hair on Sunday and I have sponge bathed, but otherwise I think I am fairly dirty (eewww!!). I am going to take a bona fide bath tonight with the help of Joe. I think I am going to have to be a on an evening shower routine right now because I don't think I would have enough time to do it in the morning before work.

I am almost ready to get back to work. It definitely has been nice not doing much of anything these past 5 days, but I am feeling a bit guilty for being so lazy!

Mom bought us some Alaskan salmon that was just delivered today. Need to start eating more healthy...

I think that's all for now - I'm still feeling a little swimmy and I didn't even take any vicoden today!

Monday, April 10, 2006

NOT a fan...

of vicodin! It my dull the pain, but it makes me feel all groggy and swimmy.

So the doc today basically told me to suck it up and start walking normally on my foot. Apparently the way it's wrapped should be ok for it to hold pressure, etc. So I am gimping along. The hopping thing was working yesterday, but that won't be good for work. I'm glad I have another day off, although I am going a little stir crazy. Maybe I will try to do some laundry today and get something productive done!

I really would like to scrap, but it's too much work to get all the supplies out! I guess I can work on my creativity journal!

I also got an email back from Stacy J saying they are working on her library of memories class for may. I am interested in taking that!

I should work on my A-Z notebook! That's what I'll do!

on the injury list

So it's almost been 24 hours since my procedure. It was weird. Since I hadn't eaten in the morning, I was already feeling slightly light-headed beforehand. When they called me in to the surgery room, it all felt somewhat surreal. I met a few nurses and docs and they explained a few more things to me. Then the main nurse started the IV, which was the most uncomfortable part of the whole thing to me. I was a little grossed out by the sight of a needle coming out of my hand. The nurse anesthetist started a light sedation so I wouln't feel the injection of the local, but I was out before we even got to the surgery room! When I woke up, we were all done! Weird weird feeling.

I felt groggy pretty much all day yesterday. By later last night the effect of the sedation had worn off. My foot was also coming out of its numbness so I was starting to feel a little uncomfortable as well. luckily mom was here to help so Joe could have dinner with A+P, Ken and Peg and Chad and Amanda.

I slept fairly well, although my back was a little sore this morning. My foot definitely hurts when I put any pressure on it, which makes navigating the bathroom a little dicey. In fact, I kind of need to go right now, but i don't feel like walking just yet. So I may hold it a bit longer.

Last night I had some weird dream that Peggy was preggers. Hmm.. I should call her later!

I'm really glad mom is here to help. It's weird not being able to do anything. AND the cable went out AGAIN. What timing. Both the technician and billing peeps got an earfull from me this morning. Not a great way to start the day, but I'm over it! I need to look into a different company to get our cable from!

That's all for now!

Friday, April 07, 2006

This sucks...

no eating or drinking the morning of the surgery. I'm starvin'!!! And getting a little cranky because of it!

At least mom is here today! It's been wonderful seeing and talking with her.

Wish me luck!

One more day

...until I go under the knife!! I've been trying not to think about it too much. I think what stresses me out more than the actual procedure is not being able to work out afterwards! I hope my foot heals quickly!! Mom is driving in tonight with Mrs. Fan so I am excited about seeing her and showing her our new house. But being immobile will be a weird concept for me. At least I'll have more time for scrappin'!

Wednesday, April 05, 2006

Obsessed...

with scrappin'! I skipped boot camp this morning so I could surf and scrap. Oh well. Yoga tonight and boot tomorrow before the big surgery day!! I'm not really stressed about it yet. Just ready to get it done. It is going to stink because I won't be able to exercise like I'm used to, but conversely I will have more free time to cook, scrap, whatever!

I guess I should drag my ass to work now....

Tuesday, April 04, 2006

Blah

Still feeling kind of gross. Couldn't drag myself out of bed this morning. Ugh. At least I did make it to the g-store. And at least this is going to be a short work week. Surgery on Friday!!

Happy Monday

Joe and Marc had today off so I got to spend it with my 2 favorite boys! We met for breakfast (+D) at Baby Barnaby's. Then we saw V for Vendetta in the afternoon. After a quick trip to Z Gallerie for a lamp and some pillows, we stopped by Peg's to get my phone.

Joe and I ordered Niko Niko's for dinner and just watched last week's episode of Lost. It keeps getting better and better!

I am getting sleepy now so off to bed soon. This spring forward thing has got me off balance!

Madonna tickets on sale tomorrow!! I think we are going to LA over my birthday weekend - woo hoo!

Sunday, April 02, 2006

Ugghhhh

The party last night was a success. Afterwards we all went to Habitat, so needless to say, it was a late nihgt/early morning. We spent most of today at Club Rue by the pool. Joe is still there and will probably go to SoBe tonight, but I just took an Ambien and am off to bed. About time!

April already???

The days go by so fast! I can't believe the year is a quarter done already. We have been gearing up for A&P's goodbye party. I finally finished the album. And I've done some scrappin' too! I am really likin' Elsie Flannigan's layouts, even though her style is the complete opposite of mine. I wish I could be so free-flowing - just need to work on it, I guess.

It's been a lazy day. I have been scrappin' to my heart's content. I did take a break for yoga. We had a little drama with the new gym so Yannis wasn't there. I didn't really get all that much out of it, but I did go through the motions.

Tonight may be a long one. I should take a nap, but I'm not really feeling tired. Feel like scrappin!

Friday, March 31, 2006

Here I go!

Work is going to be insanely crazy today. I'm just trying to catch my breath before I go in! At least I have the weekend off - woo hoo! I just gotta keep thinking about that....

midnight..
work wasn't as bad as I anticipated. But I am just now finishing up A&P's scrapbook. It's about 95% done. Still need something for a couple pages in the middle as well as a title. Otherwise I am fairly pleased with how it turned out.

My jaw is killing me right now. I bit into an ice cream sandwich that was too hard and now chewing hurts the left side of my jaw. Hopefully it will get better by tomorrow!

I am getting sleepy...must go to bed soon....

6-8 weeks!!

So I had a pre-op with my doc this morning to do blood work to make sure I'm not preggers (ha!). He said I probably won't be able to run for at least 6-8 weeks! And by run that also means no boot camp, swat or yoga!! This is really going to suck! I guess I'll be going on a diet.

So what that means for me now is to get as much in as possible! I think I will go for a run tomorrow morning...

Mysore was good tonight. I was debating going, but then thinking that I won't be able to after next week... just do it!!

Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day at work. Over 60 eyes!! That's a record for us. And after I must finish A&P's scrapbook. I may actually scan it to the computer as well, for my own records.

That's all for now. Almost time for bed (after I read all my blogs)

Too busy to blog

I have not been motivated to blog lately. Just too many things going on with work and working out and scrapping. I guess that's a good thing!

Our cable seems to be working better now. Hopefully we're done with the drama.

Tonight to Richard's for another AI party. Woo hoo. I guess yoga will wait until tomorrow...

Motivation

I found a cool new blog from Rhonna Farrer. She does this 21 day Art journal challenge where you use a journal to create a new habit or kick an old one. I'm getting the nerve to start it, but as usual I will probably procrastinate. That's what I really need to work on!!

Monday already?!?!?

My run this morning felt good. Get the blood pumpin'. Should have done that yesterday!

This week shouldn't be as crazy as work since we don't have any procedures until Friday. Friday will be all craziness, but hopefully today will be a bit less stressful....

Joe and sofa today - woo hoo!

8:09 PM
Yoga was good this evening. My shoulders are sore!!

Our new sofa is too fabulous! I love it!! It's been so long that I didn't remember what the fabric would be like, but the mohair (yes, it is the hair of a 'mo - hee hee) is so soft. Totally worth the wait!

Missed a day!

What a hectic weekend. Yesterday I was at work all day - I guess last night I assumed I had blogged in the morning. Anyways, after work I came home and tried to nap, but that usually doesn't work for me. So I surfed as well as scrapped! I got my 2005 year-in-review layout done as well as started on A&P's album.

Madonnarama was at SoBe last night so I went with Marc, Richard, Michael D., Darryl, Matt, Johnny from Dallas and Joe. The music was so fun, but of course they didn't really play her cool club mixes until I was exhausted and hot and had to go home. Darryl walked me home around 2 AM.

My phone rang this morning at 6AM so needless to say I didn't get very good sleep. After seeing patients from 8-9:30 I debated going to yoga, but my hangover told me I probably shouldn't be upside down. So I came home and worked on their album until noon, when I met Marc and Michael at little Berry Hill. More people joined and I didn't leave until 5! So nothing much got done today, but it was such a beautiful day, I didn't want to waste it inside! Unfortunately I think I got a little burned on my arms.

So I have gotten some more pages as well as planning done with their album. It's coming together pretty nicely. But I wish I had various pictures in different sizes. Oh well, I just don't have that kind of time! I like doing gift albums, though. They are fun and have an ending. I got some mini album kits from Create for less and I think I will make ones for Ann, Annie and Ree when I see them in August!

I am about to fall over from exhaustion. Tomorrow Joe comes home! Yeah! Our couch gets here! Yeah! I plan on running in the morning (too tired for boot or swat) and yoga in the evening. Over and out.

Friday already!?!?!

I can't believe how fast time goes by. It's almost the end of March. This year is almost 25% over. Good lord, can it slow down some?!?!?

It is like 40 degress outside. WTF???? I thought spring was supposed to be here and it's colder than it has been in a long time. Needless to say I was not inspired to get up and run in the cold. Maybe tomorrow (ha!). Instead, I'm organizing pics and thinking of things to scrap. I am going to do 3 year-in-review layouts based on the ones I've seen from DD's class in BPS. I've done all my Christmas card layouts. So technically I will be "caught up!" But I would really like to do an album for our China trip (that's what I can use that red album I bought from Create for less for). But first I need to finish A&P's book. That's the project for this weekend!

I guess I should go get ready for work...

Mysore

..was a great class tonight. Yannis showed me a lot of things and what I need to do to help fix my yoga and get better. I really enjoyed it. Now I have to practice!

The only thing with yoga this late is that I have a feeling I will have a hard time sleeping tonight. Since it's so cold I will probably skip running tomorrow morning and just go to yoga after work. So I will be able to "sleep in" if I can't fall asleep!

Another day...

Joe and the boys are off to Miami today for his "5th annual bachelor party." I have mixed feelings about it. He loves to go so of course I can't stop him. But goodness, it's A LOT of partying and money!! I guess once a year is not too bad. But I'm also thinking this is probably the last year so I don't want to burst his bubble. He will be gone until Monday (when we get our sofa delivered!!!!). I have to work this weekend so it won't be too bad. I will also need to work on A&P's scrapbook which I really haven't touched since Monday. Marc did help me with some quotes on Tuesday so I think it will be coming together.

Boot camp with John this morning was good. Not as tough as last week. Apparently every one was mega sore from all those lunges we did. I remember being tired but not so sore. I think doing yoga helped.

I have a feeling today is going to be another crazy day at work. Actually everyday through Sat will be crazy. Makes the day go by..

Chicken Little is gone!

Thanks goodness!! I couldn't stand watching him sing, although he seems like a sweet kid. But definitely no American Idol. Now I must decide my top 5 for our game....

Work was all craziness today. Only 5 minutes for lunch and I stayed late so no yoga :(

Tomorrow I am going to mysore - I am a little nervous about it...

Waiting

I took my car to the shop and am waiting for them to tell me it's done. Fingers crossed. Don't need to be at work until 10 so hopefully they will be able to finish it by then!

Boot camp was pretty good today. Not an ass-kicker, but good to get the blood pumpin. I hope yoga will go better tonight!

We had a little get together at Richard's place last night. He lives in the cutest 4-plex. It would be a great place to buy as investment property! He cooked barbeque chicken, beans, corn on the cob and mac and cheese. Yummy! And of course I had two helpings of Darryl's banana pudding. I had to roll out of there by the time AI was over! I think Bucky must go today.

I was going to write something and now I've forgotten...senior moment. Hate those.

Warm up

..before you go to yoga in the mornings! So it's my 3rd day in a row to do. Since Richard is having a little get together for AI this evening, I thought I would try out the morning class. It was fine, just shorter. But the room was freezing and I never really felt warmed up. My muscles were still sore from yesterday. I need to remind myself to do at least 5-10 minutes of warm up before class, just to get the blood pumpin'!

It's back to the grind today. At least I have 2 more hours to goof off!

Trend alert: almost every single store I went to last night - vintage looking tees. Everywhere!

Yay!

Got my new CK today. The image is not uploading properly so I'll try again later. Time to enjoy the day off and read!

...later. still got allowing me to post image...hmmmm what's going on???

well, it seems like it may be just that picture it's having trouble with. I uploaded my new PINK t-shirts just fine!

i have already perused the mag once and did fall asleep for a bit. a necessary nap after my two-workout day. (SWAT and yoga). my goal is to go to yoga every day this week. tomorrow will be at 6:30 am, wed 7 pm, thurs 7pm for mysore (i'm a little nervous about this one, but since we don't get out of work until 6, i have no choice!) and fri 5:30 pm with eric. I wonder who teaches the early morning class - i heard it's not yannis. i'll find out tomorrow.

joe and i are going to the galleria tonight for some shoppin' and hair stylin' (he is). should be fun (when is shopping not fun?!?!?).

Run run run

SWAT was a great class this morning. George led the advanced group and we did a lot of runnning. I think I was sandbagging a bit, in anticipation of going to yoga, but overall I had a great workout. It's a good way to start the day!

Yesterday was a good scrappin' day. Did pretty much all of my Christmas cards from years past. I only have 2 pics left, one of Mo, Chris and Ethan, and one of Maria and Michael, which don't necessarily have to be scrapped as Christmas cards. I am really liking The Big Picture philosophy. It's taking eons for the chronological scrapper in me to let go, but it's happening, albeit slowly! Having this blog has also helped with my journaling. I find the more I write, the easier it gets. Go figure!

I am a sweaty mess so I should go a shower...

Another early morning

Joe woke me up early since he had to get up to meet Jim to run the Seabrook 1/2 marathon. I, on the other hand, am going to be lazy until it's time for yoga. I just am not motivated to run.....

I get on these weird obsessive kicks when I think about things. After briefly looking at bags with Peg yesterday I am on my online kick again. But I need another bag like I need a hole in my head. What I should have done is bought that Marc Jacobs bag from Saks when it was on sale for $300. Still pricey, yes, but at least it's real. The guy wanted that much for a fake Chanel bag! So next time...(but do I really need a pink MJ bag. of course not. would i like it? well that's a different question.)

Why does it have to end?

Saturdays, that is. It was a good day. I spent the morning at Target, Barnes and Noble and Old Navy before getting highlights with Luis and David at Tova's. Then I met Peggy and Trista for lunch at Andre's. Had a yummy spinach quiche. Laura brought Berkeley over later on. We had a great time just catching up. Berkeley is the cutest baby! Makes me almost want one...

After lunch Peg and I went to Harwin, where we checked out a bag place (nothing too exciting) and then went to Charming Charlie's. I got 2 wooden beaded necklaces for like $15. Can't beat that!

Joe was already home when I got back. (Still no CK in the mail, dammit!). He sold his motorcycle today! I know he was a bit disappointed, but now he can get his tri bike guilt free.

We went to Osaka, this Japanese restaurant just on Westheimer, for dinner. Pretty good sushi. For dessert we baked brownies and made sundaes, complete with bananas, ice cream, whipped cream and cherries on top. I watched A History of Violence while Joe slept through most of it. It was a surprisingly short movie. I enjoyed it, but Joe thought it was dull (obviously, see above).

I'm not ready for bed yet so here I will be for probably another hour. Toodles.

Early morning

I have been sleeping better but not longer lately. Joe woke up early this morning. He's going to the lake house of someone from Triadvantage, his tri gym, with Brad this morning. He's meeting Brad in the Woodlands and they are going from there, so it sounds far. So I have the morning to myself!

I think it's funny how getting up at 5 am is much easier when I don't have to think about going to work! I was going to run, but I am sore! My goal next week is to try for yoga everyday - I bought those classes and need to use as many as possible before my surgery. We'll see how it goes. Now that it's written down, I have to do it!

I've been trying to organize my pics, but it's not working so well. I think one reason I don't scrap as much is cause my pics are all over the place and many are still digital. Need to work on that!

All for now..

Non-fiction

My reading material and interest has definitely changed this year. I still love receiving tons of magazines in the mail (shh...don't tell Joe I may be ordering more. they are so cheap off ebay!). And I got 2 great photography books and oodles of scrapbooking books. I read more about scrapping than I actually do. I really need to change that. I think it's hard because most of my pictures are digital. I am printing some more free from Shutterfly.

ANYWAYS, to my original point. I haven't been reading as much fiction as I usually do. I'm really into this creativity thing. Maybe it's cause I'm trying to find "deeper meaning" in my life, I don't know. But I've got all this thoughts swimming in my brain - I think that's why I haven't been sleeping as well lately.

I did go to Eric's yoga class today. Enjoyed it quite a bit, because only 3 of us were there. Kind of like a semi-private session! My muscles, especially those hamstrings, were really sore and stiff from boot camp on Thursday. Need to stretch more everyday!

I've been discovered...

by Joe. I think he is very amused that I actually have a blog. I am probably the only person in the whole world who will ever read this, but it does make me a little nervous that he knows. Not that I write anything SO personal in here. Who knows, maybe one day I will just let him read it!

Today was a typical Friday at work. Busy busy and more busy. But thank goodness I have the weekend for rest! I'm getting my hair colored and cut tomorrow - totally overdue. I think I may go shorter. And also having lunch with my girls - Peggy and Trista. I need to take some more pics!

All for now. I kind of feel like scrappin'.

So I managed to motivate myself to get up and work out this morning. I got to the gym early and did some elliptical trainer before the new boot camp class with John started. We were in the parking lot for the hour and did lots of lunges, running, and squats. My legs are going to be jelly today, but I really enjoyed the class. Richard's class used to be more like this - I will definitely be coming back for more next week!

So trolling around the blogs that I read, I came across some more cool questions I'd like to think about.

Don't forget to vote!

Ace was in the bottom 3 tonight. I can't believe it!!! That's it- gotta start voting.

I have also decided I am not doing my scrapbook for March - I want to wait until May, my birthday month! This has gotten me prepared for the work though. Now I have to pick an album!

Whew, feel less pressure about that now. Time for bed!

Wacky Houston weather

So since this weekend it's been fairly hot and humid already. In the upper 70's, lower 80's. And we have been running the AC, especially because of the humidity. But today is the house is cold cold cold - in the 60's! This Houston weather is crazy (I guess it doesn't help when your house was built in the 1920's and doesn't have the best insulation).

I actually overslept this morning. Felt kind of good. I will probably be going to yoga tonight to get some exercise in. And the new boot camp class tomorrow. Hopefully the instructor will show up!

A full moon this morning

I ran early this morning at Memorial Park (miss Cindy!!). Driving there, down Memorial, I could see the moon in the horizon. It was one big round circle. Beautiful. It's hard to capture moments like that with an ordinary camera. Like last night on my way to dinner the sun was setting and the scene from 59 was gorgeous. And this is the middle of the city. So it's possible to find beauty anywhere you live; in the city you just have to look harder.

One thing about a full moon that frightens me - we tend to get "crazy" people in our office. Let's hope I'm just imagining this!

I read through The Big Picture at least 3 times yesterday. Awesome awesome awesome book and concepts. Her layouts are nothing spectacular, but the idea behind them is. Let go of having to scrap every single event, and scrap people, moments, etc. I think the reason I have always loved taking pictures and scrapbooking is that I like to REMEMBER things. Stacy's is a good way of doing this, in no particular order. Which goes against every grain in my scrapbooking body, but which I am going to adopt because chronological order is what kills me. I'm always "behind." After Ting and John's wedding album, I'm done with that. Just scrapbook what I want, when I want. I can't wait to get started.

Here comes the mail

Today has been a good day off. I went to my dentist, Dr. Nab, for a teeth cleaning. I love that fresh feeling after they are done scrapping your teeth. Although I do my best to floss and brush beforehand. It's like having Julia come to clean. I tidy up first.

Our new table arrived shortly after I came home from the dentist. Woo hoo! It has a little scratch, but otherwise is fine. Ligne Roset should be contacting us to have it fixed.

Before I left for the g-store I got loads of goodies in the mail! Pictures from Snapfish; The Big Picture by Stacy Julian ; and treats from Create for less. Email is great for dropping someone a quick note or paying bills, but nothing beats getting something in the mail!

Whew! A day off...

...sort of. I do have a CD/Doc dinner meeting tonight, but at least I don't have to step foot into the office!

Dragged my butt to SWAT this morning. We had a good class. Only George was there to lead it, but did quite a bit of running and push-ups, my favorite (Not!).

Our table, but not sofa, should be delivered this morning. I am VERY excited about that! now off to scrap...or think about scrapping.....

Time flies when you're at Berry Hill

So yesterday, after another hellish day at work, we went to dinner with the boys (well, Marc, Darryl, Matt, Daniel, John and Darah, so not all boys) at Collina's, our favorite restaurant to eat/socialize/hang out, etc. Of course after eating lots of bread and pizza and drinking lots of wine, I am done for the night. Everyone else (Joe included) goes to Meteor and South Beach for all sorts of debauchery. I was not a happy camper and awoke too early for the amount of sleep I had.

I saw patients this morning - they all did very well. I like doing the one-days; they are always so happy. Afterwards, I made a quick run to Target and went to yoga. After yoga we did our usual breakfast at little BerryHill on Revere. I like hanging out there with everyone cause we are just talking and laughing and telling stories - just good times. We were there for over 3 hours! But little BH always leads to BH on Montrose. Apparently today was their 3 year anniversary.

The only problem is that after 4:30-5, BH just gets too crowded and annoying. I usually reach my fill at this point. We went to The Mining Company for a bit but left soon after. I am now eating some Niko Niko's while Joe has already passed out.

This can be a typical Sunday. Just out of control. I think I'm over it. But Joe is not yet, and therein lies the problem. Sigh. Getting old is such a bitch.

Surfin'

The good thing about waking up so early is that I can surf to my heart's content and 1-not be interupted and 2-not feel guilty. What else am I going to do so early in the morning?

So this is a blog I have been visiting nitty.gritty This woman has an amazing story and she seems very cool. I just have to work up the balls to comment on her page. I don't know why I have a hard time reaching out to people. I don't tend to think of myself as shy, but I guess I still am in a way. Anyways, I am going to post this to see if the link works!

It works!! Too cool. Uh oh, things could get out of control here..

insomnia....

I need to remember to tell my patients that when you don't get enough sleep, your eyes may burn. Mine are feeling very uncomfortable right now, as is it only 4 in the morning. I have not been sleeping well this week. I don't know what my problem is. Maybe I'm thinking about things too much...

Being introspective

This bloggin' thing has been a good one for me. I haven't really kept a journal since Joe moved to Houston. I like thinking about things. Appreciating what I have. Trying not to want want want. Taking each day at a time. Life is in the details. I love travelling and doing new things, seeing exotic places. But at the end of the day, I really enjoy sleeping in my own bed!

I went to SWAT this morning. It was a good class. We did all abs and legs. I am going to be sore tomorrow! I need to start changing up my routine. I am definitely getting bored with Boot, although I feel guilty when I don't go.

Work is going to be crazy so I should get going early.

9:22 PM
The invitations for Alan and Patrick's party are done and mailed (mostly). That's one task done! Now I have to work on their scrapbook!

Today was even more stressful than Wednesday, if that's possible. I think any patient with any problems decided to come in this afternoon. Talk about high stress! I am just exhausted. Mentally drained. Time for bed.

Thursday, March 09, 2006

Too cute!

hee hee - cute doll i made of myself. silly but fun.

Awoken by my neuroses

I woke up this morning around 4:20 AM. What the hell am I doing away at 4 in the morning. is the first thing that comes to my mind. Then I try to go back to sleep, but unsuccessfully. Random thoughts running through my mind - how can I become a better....scrapbooker? wife? doctor? friend? I feel like I don't do enough in many aspects of my life - I need to do more more more! So my head is spinning with all these random thoughts until I have to drag my ass out of bed and surf, just to quiet down those voices. All I can do is my best and that will have to do...for now.

I am trying a new boot camp class at the Met. We'll see how it goes.

7:07 AM
So the instructor doesn't even show up for class! That sucks! I ended up doing just 30min on the elliptical. Oh well, that way I won't be sore for class tomorrow!

Got to pick up envelopes for Alan's invitations this morning as well as some more brads. Just an excuse to go shopping for scrap supplies :)

9:07 PM
The invitations are here and are too cute! Of course the envelopes I got were too big - am going to Bering's tomorrow - hopefully they will have smaller ones. I also didn't get brads today so will pick up some more tomorrow as well.

I still haven't gotten my BPS book. Need to email them yet again.

Today was a good day at work - busy but not super stressful, suprisingly enough. One tech did resign, which puts a wrench in the overall schedule, but I think we'll manage.

AI - the top 12 are here. Joe wants to have a contest to predict the top 5. He is so funny - I can't believe he is as into Idol as he is!

Wednesday, March 08, 2006

A new day....

Today will be a better day. I can feel it. The sun is shining, birds are singing - there is nothing to be blah about (or so I keep telling myself!). I think work just sometimes sucks the life out of me!! I think just seeing the volume of people I see gets tiring. I am trying to figure out how to combat that weariness. One patient at a time, I guess!

Boot camp was good today althought I feel bad because I was a little bitchy to Richard. I get that way when I'm tired, which I'm sure Joe can attest to. Definitely something I need to work on!

And I have been bad about taking pictures. More today, I promise!

8:49 PM
Ha - no more photos. The day goes by too quickly! We were crazy busy this morning, but at least the afternoon was not too bad. I am definitely not as tired as I was yesterday. I need to gear up for tomorrow - I'm sure it's going to be a madhouse!

American Idol still makes me happy. I wish it were on every night!! The boys this year are still my favorite. I like Chris (bald rocker dude), Ace (hot dude) and Taylor (personality dude). We'll see - I haven't been voting but I will probably start next week for the top 12. Yes, I am a goof.

I have a new favorite scrapbooker - her name is Elsie Flannigan and she seems so cute. It's so weird how this blogging thing can make you seem like you know someone even though you really don't! Anyways, I usually like clean and simple lines, but she has the cutest way of doodling her pictures and pages. I love it! Not really my style, but definitely inspiring.

In other exciting news, our sofa, chair and dining room table should be delivered on Monday!! Woo hoo! After months and months of waiting, we will be partially furnished. I am most excited about that. We still need to get chairs for the table - probably from C&B.

Looks like Joe's coming to bed. over and out!

Terrible Tuesdays

The Met had a new class this morning - Strength, Stamina and speed, by Allison, this cute girl with really short bleached blonde hair, who also teaches spinning. It wasn't terribly hard, especially compared to boot camp, but wasn't a bad workout either. I should start running to the Met with Joe on Tuesday mornings when I go into work late. That way I can get some more cardio in.

I need to get motivated to go the g-store here before work. As usual, we are almost completely out of food!!

8:49 PM
The day goes by so fast when work goes late. I am tired tired tired. Yet still amused by my boy. A favorites expression is "BEEEG ONES...," referring to any number of things - use your imagination.

We did cook some pasta for dinner tonight - actually cooking is a bit of a stress relief - something to concentrate on that has a finite ending. And yogurt is still our favorite dessert (well, not really, but at least it's good for you!).

What a blah day. I have a feeling tomorrow will be much the same - stress stress stress! Time to hit the hay...Over and out!

Good mornin'

The Oscars ran late, of course. I can't believe Crash won big picture instead of Brokeback Mountain. They were robbed!! That was really the only big surprise. Matt and Rob threw a fun party. I guess it should be, since the Oscar's are the "gay Superbowl," according to Marc!

So I skipped boot this morning. That's ok. We've got some new classes starting on Tues/Thurs that I am interested in trying. We'll see how they go!

Here starts my long work week - wish me luck!

8:09 PM
Another Monday over. Work was actually not too bad. It's definitely quieter when we don't have treatments going on!

So this evening Joe got the cable working and I got my scanner working. Woo hoo! That's about the excitement for the evening!

Sleepin' in

I woke up last night around 2:30AM with the worst cramps. They weren't necessarily the most painful I've experienced, but they were just SO uncomfortable that I couldn't really sleep. I did manage to fall back asleep and didn't wake up, aside from kissing Joe goodbye when he left for his morning run with Jim, until 6:30 or so this morning. I was feeling better, but as I am typing this I can feel the cramps again. This is probably the ONLY thing I really hate being a girl. I understand it's a necessary evil, but oh how I wish it weren't!!(Ha! Me and every single female on this planet!!) Since being off the pill, the cramps are definitely worse. Ugh.

Before yoga this morning, I have to see one patient. Not a big deal, but still a bit of a pain since I will be working EVERY DAY next week. Literally. Mon - Sun. Now Sun-Sun (even if Sunday is short, it's still time I have to be there. At least the week after that will be short and I have the next weekend as a three day weekend. So I will try not to complain too much!

1:17 PM
Yoga was good today. But it makes me miss Ms Cindy - Sundays aren't going to be the same!

Joe and I had leftovers for lunch and we just got done with manis and pedis. I love having polish on my toes. Makes my gross toenails look halfway decent.

I am now in the process of doing laundry, which is a never ending process at the Kachinski household. I guess working out so much adds up the laundry!

4:48 PM
We went to pick up Rowan and Queenie for A&P this afternoon. The boys are in Denver for a shower for Seth and Jill. We should be leaving for an Oscar's party this evening at Matt and Rob's. Need to change and get ready. I'm hoping that Brokeback will take it all!!

I don't know how late we'll be home so signing off for now...

Happy Saturday

I don't know what my problem is but I haven't been sleeping well at all this week. Too much on my mind, I guess. (I wonder if Aunt Dot coming to visit today has anything to do with it). Work is going to be crazy busy - we are seeing record amounts of patients. This is a good thing, to be growing, but it can be stressful as well! I have also volunteered to make a going away scrapbook for A+P for their going away and thinking about it is stressing me out. I am not sure of now I want it to go. I just bought a scrapbook (and a lot of other supplies) from one of my favorite scrappin' supply sites, Create For Less, so hopefully when I get my new toys I will be more inspired!

Joe cracks me up. He does this thing in his sleep - for whatever reason, any random night of the week, he will get up and decide he needs to put on shorts/pants/whatever. Well last night apparently he thought his tank top was a pair of shorts and put them on that way! When he woke up he thought he was wearing a skirt! What a silly boy!

I am going to drap my a$$ to the gym this morning and do a little cardio. Need to!

9:12 AM
Did my 40 minutes on the elliptical. It's not heart pounding hard, but at least it gets the blood flowing. I really need to get an MP3 player so I can be more motivated when I work out alone. Ipod Nano, here I come!!!

1:59 PM
So I almost set our house on fire this morning as I was making lunch!! I was sauting the chicken on the stove top and turned the broiler on the "lightly toast" the rolls. I sat at the computer for a couple minutes, then remembered I had the bread in the oven. When I opened it up, all I saw were flames coming from the rolls! I immediately closed the oven and turned off the power. Luckily the smoke didn't set the fire alarm off - the fires went out themselves once stopped broiling. Whew, close call!

I made chicken caccatorie subs - the rolls still got a little burnt on my 2nd go round, but no fires! They were quite tasty if I say so myself. Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals are EE Kachinski's 45-60 minute meals, from start to end. But they are getting easier!

We've got some house errands we want to run this evening. I want to fix up the bathroom and also put more hooks on all the doors.

I also talked to Cindy earlier. She seems to be settling in. Miss that girl!

8:06 PM
Aaahhh...domestic bliss. We just finished another Rachael/EE meal - Chicken with tomato and eggplant sauce. Pretty good, but I'm done with Italian.

This afternoon we ran random errands. I got the Sorry CD single at Soundwaves, we went to a couple lighting stores to look at lamps, Loew's to get some things for the bathroom and Ikea for a couple bath mats and light for the bed. Ikea was crazy - too many people! I used to like their stuff, but after looking at really GOOD furniture, Ikea stuff is definitely on the cheap side. Makes C&B look decent!

Joe is now busy putting up the towel rack. What an exciting Sat evening! :)

TGIF!!!

I didn't get to blog early this morning because I did get my butt to boot camp. Also stopped at Randall's on the way to work for cereal and doughnuts (mini ones, to share!). I love the cereal so much that I'm having a bowl for dinner right now! I will never be a waif because I love to eat too much!!

Today was a fairly uneventful day. Had lunch with Matt at Greenway Plaza. Joe had to work tonight so I get the house to myself. I need to start thinking of ideas for Alan and Patrick's going away scrapbook. So right now I'm surfing for inspiration. Be back later.

7:08 PM
I finally finished my 2006 Intentions page. Only took 2 months, but it's down and on paper. In my about me book that I started in 2003 and have only done 7 pages in. But I guess it's a work in progress, just like me. That's why I don't want to buy any more "me" type albums, since I haven't even finished this one!

I've also been doing a couple random pages in my creativity book. I'm trying to get those juices flowing. Also walked around the block and took some pics, experimented with the camera. All in all, I feel like I'm having a productive evening. Just playing and having fun.

9:32 PM

I have been scrappin, surfin, bloggin and listenin to my VH1 all-request videos. Good mix of my favorite 80's songs! I am starting to get sleepy so will probably head to bed soon.

I remember distinctly being in high school and being amazed that my parents didn't go out on Friday nights. I'm not even a parent yet and already I'm not going out on Friday nights...and lovin' it! The week is so stressful it's nice to be able to relax and do what I want (which is not much) and not have a time line or anything.

We should be getting out entertainment unit tomorrow - woo hoo!

Good night and good luck (the one Oscar movie I have yet to see).

Lazy morning

I am resting today from my 2-a-days. They definitely aren't as strenuous as Joe's work outs, but tiring nonetheless. Joe and I got in a mini-argument on whether or not he "needed" to sell his motorcycle in order to get his tri-bike. His defense was that I bought my beemer even though I didn't "need" to. Granted a BMW is a luxury, but I use it every day. Does he ride his motorcycle or would he use his tri-bike everyday? Probably not. But Joe is stubborn and will probably get one whether he really needs it or not. I guess there's not much I can do if he's using his own money!

Breakfast this morning was just oatmeal. We really need to go to the store!! Of course when I don't have any I really crave a bowl of cereal.

Julia is coming today to clean. Yeah!

8:03 AM
Just talked to Joey and he apologized for getting mad this morning. I wasn't too upset about it - but I'm glad we talked it out. Basically, he doesn't like being told what he can or can't do, which I can understand. If I let him think things over himself, he usually comes to the same decision that I do, so I shouldn't push or nag him about it. I know I'm bad about that - got it from my mom. It's one of her characteristics that I don't like so I really need to break myself of it.

That's all for now. I am in the process of tidying up the house for Julia. I find it amusing that I like to "clean" before Julia comes. Mostly I want to get our clutter out of the way for her.

6:41 PM
I love coming home to a clean house with nice piles of clean laundry ready to be put away. I wish Julia could come every week, but my wallet doesn't allow it!

The first thing I have to to when I get home (aside from finding a little snack) is take off my scrubs and jewelery. For some reason I want to be free of all adornments. And I hate having my hair in my face - up up in a little pigtail it goes!

I keep forgetting to take pictures at work - just get too busy. My lunch today consisted of a turkey sandwich with some of Matt's baked Cheetos, carrots and a yogurt. No wonder I'm starving today. The few peanut butter cookies I had this afternoon didn't cut it. I was craving pasta on my way home and what do you know, a flyer for free pasta delivery was on our fence. But I am saving my money and having soup at home instead. Joe is going to the g-store tomorrow so we can have some food! These are the things that make me think, goodness am I ready to take care of another human being???

More laters....

8:29 PM
I am starting to get tired. Haven't been sleeping as well the last couple night because of yoga too late. Hopefully won't be a problem tonight. But I do want to take a pic of me and my sweetie today. I want one of us every day this month (except when he's out of town).

I really want to be motivated to scrap but I haven't been feeling it. I should just work on my sister's wedding album to get inspiration to make one for Alan and Patrick before they leave! I was hoping the creativity class I took from Big Picture Scrapbooking would inspire me, but beside from making a cute book I didn't do anything with it. I need to find more inspiration!

A new month!

My first post for March. This blogging thing is weird and interesting to me - I've been addicted to reading posts of these people that I DON'T KNOW at all - but I like to see what they have to say. Most of it is scrapbooking-related (yes, I am a big nerd). And I like to see different peoples pages. Maybe it's the voyeur in me - I like to see what other people do with their lives. How some people can make the mundane seem fabulous. And I guess that's what I want to do with my scrapbook of March 2006. Our ordinary life. But I love it!

I had a hard time sleeping last night because yoga ran so late. And when I woke up this morning, at like 4:52 AM, I felt like I had just closed my eyes! I hate that. Joe got up around 5:20 - he went swimming with Jim this morning at the 4 seasons pool. I had a hard time finding me keys this morning - of course they were simply on the opposite side of the stove than I ususally throw them! Boot camp with Richard was good this morning. This week he has been mixing it up (i.e. not making us do 100 push-ups at one time), which has made the class better to me. Rhonda, DeeDee, Pete, Janeen, Terry, James and JJ (new girl) were there so it was a fairly full class. I need to get a picture of my boot campers!

I had my usual bowl of cereal for breakfast this morning while perusing the new Creating Garden at Two Peas. I think if I had to I could totally live on cereal. I also talked to Tinger this morning. She and John may be moving - I am keeping my fingers crossed that they come back to Texas.

And now that the sweat has dried on me and I feel so glamourous (eewww!), I am off for my morning shower. Hopefully the steam won't set off the fire alarm!

8:39 AM
My new favorite thing to make for breakfast is soft boiled eggs. With a little salt and pepper, they are yummy. Got the idea from Peggy. They are kind of like sunny side up eggs. And they have more flavor than dried hard boiled eggs. A good way for me to get my protein in the morning!

9:48 PM
Today was so bright and sunny outside I couldn't help but be in a good mood! We were busy at work but not too crazy, and the post-ops weren't too crazy, either, which helps!

Matt and I went to Berry Hill for lunch and sat outside. I had yummy grilled fish tacos. Love Berry Hill food!

After work I went straight to yoga and met Joe there. Joey showed up again as well! This is the first time I've been to two classes in a row. It wasn't too bad - in fact I improved on some things, although at the end I could tell I was getting tired.

We got home around 8:45 and since we haven't gone to the g-store in forever, we didn't have anything good to eat for dinner. So Joe made some eggs, which I ate with toast and jelly (and I can't believe it's not butter). We definitely need to get some food - I think we're even out of cereal (gasp!)!!

So tomorrow I want to take some pictures at work. I totally forgot today and it would have been great for it because we weren't slammed. Also, next house project is to finish decorating the bathroom. I want to put more hooks up and get something on the wall. That shouldn't be too hard and it's something I can control, unlike furniture from Italy or France.

Hope I can fall asleep tonight....

February is over!

So my goal for March is going to be to take at least 5-10 pictures every day and blog every day. I want to make an everyday life scrapbook and March should be pretty uneventful - the only trip would be Joe going to Miami for WMC. Hopefully I will be getting my Big Picture Scrapbooking book soon; from where this idea comes.

We are hoping to see Madonna in Miami over July4th weekend. THAT would be awesome!

This week has not been feeling as tiring as last week. I ran 4 miles this morning before work and went to yoga this evening. Now I am starting to get tired.

Good night!

VH1

I am watching the all-request classic videos. They are playing some cool songs I haven't heard in forever - like "I Go Crazy," by Flesh for Lulu and "Affair of the Heart" by Rick Springfield. Hee hee - I could watch this all night!

Early morning

It's always easier to get up in the morning when I know I don't have to work!! Joe and I were up around 4 - a combination of being too full from Lupe's fajitas and a little tipsy from the margaritas caused us to go to sleep fairly early. I hate sleeping on such a full stomach - I remember having vivid weird dreams, but I can't remember exactly what they were.

Nancy, Joe's aunt, is visiting this weekend. We are going to James and Val's place this afternoon for Lori's bday party. She is having it at build-a-bear at the Baybrook Mall. That's where our old Some friend Jonathan, who is also a hairdresser, supposedly has his own Toni and Guy. We'll have to check it out!

My goal for next month is to take lots of pictures every day and make a month in the life kind of scrapbook. Inspired by Stacy Julian. Thinking of her, where is my book????

I think I will tidy up a bit more and try to get some pics organized for my 2005 year in review layout. Laters!

big!

That is one big picture! I was just at photobucket.com, playing around. I would like to make a cool banner but I think it will be more effort than I am willing to put in, so I'll make do with what I have now!

this is just a test

New discovery

I am making a photo book on photoworks.com. It's pretty cool. Doesn't take quite as much time as making a scrapbook but isn't totally quick either.

First elimination round on AI tonight. No one I liked is gone, so I'm ok. Ace Ace all the way!

Mini-swat

I worked out with Beth and Greg Apke, a couple from the Met, this morning. We did a pseudo-SWAT workout along the bayou. I miss having SWAT on tues/thurs, especially now since 1 - I am no longer training for the marathon and 2 - I lost my running buddy! Nothing bonds people more than having to get up at the crack of dawn and working out! That's what really got Cindy and I to be closer friends. We would run and just talk about anything and everything. Man, I miss her already!

Work was rather stressful yesterday and I didn't get out until late so I didn't go to yoga. I did make some rice and veggies to go with the chicken Joe made so the night wasn't a total loss. And Idol! was on, which made my night. I don't know why I love that show so much. I definitely enjoyed the guys' performances much better than the girls. The girls did way too many slow ballads. My favorite is still Ace. He is hot and can sing!

Joe's aunt Nancy is coming to visit this weekend. Since we haven't seen her in over a year it will be a good time, but I feel bad because we still have no furniture! Hopefully it will be here within the next month....

I hate goodbyes

This is my friend Cindy. She, Marc, Darryl, Heather, Joe and I just had breakfast at Baby Barnaby's as a last farewell as she and Marc drive out to LA. She got a "new" job out there with the old Clear Channel, doing much of the same things she was doing here in H-town. We really just became good friends over the past 1.5 years, but I will really miss her! At least LA is a fairly easy plane flight. Sigh.

More Vegas pics

Home again

We just got back from Las Vegas yesterday morning. Talk about an exhausting weekend! On Friday, our flight was supposed to leave at 6pm and we would get there at 7:30. Well, we didn't leave until after 7 and didn't get to our hotel until 9:30. We were seeing Ka at the MGM grand at 10:30 so we dropped off our bags, and immediately went to the show. Our aunt, visiting from Japan, didn't want to see it so she gambled while we watched the show. The stage and set were amazing but the story and acrobatics were only fair. I think I've seen too many Cirque shows so nothing is very new anymore. If this had been my first one, I think I would have been blown away, mostly because of the elaborate set. After the show we were hungry so we ate at a restaurant at the MGM (our aunt had lost enough $$ to warrant some comp meals!!). Poor dad's flight was even more delayed than ours. We got back to the Aladdin after 1 am and dad was already playing the slots!

Joe woke up early Sat morning to run. When he returned the 4 of us went to breakfast at the cafe downstairs. We gambled for a couple hours. My aunt left for the airport in the early afternoon so we shopped at Caesar's before heading back for some rest. I bought a cute pink (of course) velvet blazer from Armani Exchange. It was only $60! The only time all 6 of us were really together was for dinner on Sat night at a Wolfgang Puck Chinese themed restaurant. The meal was reminiscent of our China trip! Mom, Ting and I gambled until we lost most of our money and then called it a night.

Joe's early morning workout was a 3 hour bike ride at their crappy $25 gym. Oops I lied - we all had breakfast/brunch at the buffet before mom left for the airport. Since the hotel was sold out we couldn't get a late check out, so had to be out of the room by 11AM. Then we took our bags to the valet to store and Ting and John got their boarding passes printed out. While we were waiting, Mom called and it turned out that her flight was supposed to be midnight on Saturday!! Luckily she was able to get on a 2pm flight. Only mom would be so absent minded! We left dad to gamble his slots and did a little more shopping. Joe got a shirt from FCUK and a pair of shoes that he's been wanting from Steve Madden.

We gambled a bit more, but were losing too quickly so we stopped and spent the rest of the afternoon walking along the strip. I took lots of fun pics, but as usual I still feel like I should have taken more!

Joe and I left Ting and John :( around 6:30 so we could catch Zumanity at 7:30. The show was pretty good, but I don't ever want to see any more hanging rope tricks! We took a cab to the Wynn to get a free buffet (courtesy of our aunt). They had king crab legs and shrimp that was good but overall I didn't think the buffet was all that. After eating we trekked back to the Aladdin and caught a cab to the airport.

The one good thing about the red-eye is that Joe usually gets upgraded to first class. So I slept all the way home in relative comfort. All in all it was a great trip to spend time with the fam.

Epiphany

The last time Luis P (Tova's) colored my hair, I didn't get it cut. He did blow it dry afterwards and, with no seeming effort at all, my hair and it's new color looked fabulous. As I was resigning myself to the fact that my hair would only look good after I went to my stylists, Luis let me in on a secret. "It's in the hair dryer," he confidently told me. "Really?!?!" I didn't quite believe him.

But I did need a new one and put it on my wish list for Christmas. Santa, a.k.a. Joe my main squeeze, always gives me what I want and I had my new Elchim hair dryer for the new year. At first I didn't think it was all that. My hair was definitely drying faster, but otherwise, did not notice too much difference.

Well, these past couple weeks I have actually been showering and getting ready for work at the gym (I had been slacking on my morning workouts for a bit). I brought my old dryer to the gym because the gym ones REALLY stink. And I discovered that my old faithful, like the gym dryers, really sucked!! I couldn't dry my hair at all!! The new one was actually doing a fantastic job and I didn't even realize it!

So the moral of the story is: Always listen to your colorist. They know.

Long day

Boot camp kicked my butt this morning so I skipped yoga this evening. Just wasn't feelin' it. I actually have enjoyed relaxing at home - cleaning up a bit and watching Idol of course! It's funny how I like to clean the house before Julia, our housekeeper, comes over!

Our DDR went out, which distresses me to no end. I have to watch live TV?!?!?! That stinks!

Today was stressful at work - I was just tired all day! But it's over and we're a day closer to Vegas, Baby! One last note - Joe got me the cutest Tiffany's heart bracelet for V-day. Love my boy!

Idol!

That show makes me happy. I don't know why I'm such a dork for it. Maybe the thought of a person being able to make their biggest dream come true.

Happy Valentine's Day! Joe and I went to Vietopia for lunch, since he has class and had to ride his bike tonight. I got him lots of yummy facial stuff from Kiehl's, as well as his requisite V-day boxers from Gap. Wonder what cupid has is store for me tonight ;)!!

Toodles!

Monday blues

It's been a long and tiring day. The morning was fairly slow but of course everyone shows up in the afternoon, which makes the day go by fast, but keeps me fairly stressed as well.

We did have Niko Niko's for dinner - love those gyros!

I may have to hit the hay here soon....

Fun stuff

Your Fashion Style is Classic
You like what's stood the test of time...Simple, well styled clothes that don't scream trendy
You stay updated and modern, but your clothes stay in style for a while
You wouldn't be caught in animal prints, fake fur, or super bright colors

The weekend

...isn't as fun when you have to work both days! Oh well, such is life. That's not a bad trade-off for having a three day weekend every other week.

I've got some many ideas of things I want/need to scrap. I'm just having a hard time implementing. I think a lot stems from the fact that most of my pictures are digital now, so I have difficulty envisioning what I want to scrap. I know now that I don't have to scrap every single picture, but we DO so many things, it's hard to know where to begin! So I keep organizing and re-organizing my stuff...I guess that's a start!

I know I want to make 2 gift albums - one for Cindy and one for Alan. I'm bummed that my Snapfish pictures aren't here yet!! Hopefully I'll get them by Tuesday.

That's all for now. Heigh ho, Heigh ho, It's off to work I go!

Madge

She's so awesome! What an inspiration!

Books

I got some books I ordered from Amazon last night. Love clean crisp sheets of paper in a new book! I started reading Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life. It's pretty amusing but a little different than I expected. I don't know why, but I thought it was an ordinary memoir, but she's actually got things alphabetized, like an encyclopedia. Go figure!

I also got a fertility book, recommended by my friend Claire (guess it's time to TAKE CHARGE!).

The last 2 books are photography books - Understanding Exposure and Learning to See Creatively, both by Bryan Peterson. Almost all these books were found via message boards. What did we do before the internet???

I've been more interested in reading non-fiction lately. Just got lots of ideas in my head, I guess!

I finally discovered how to post a picture to my profile. It took way longer than it should! Now if I can only figure out how to make a banner...

Just trying some uploads. Love my boy.

Skiing pics

Finally got some up!

Home again

Our ski trip was a blast!! I wish we could go more often! I have been trying to upload some pictures, but it's not working, so I'll try again later.

We flew to Denver on Wednesday morning, and after some drama with the rental cars, made our way to Beaver Creek by about 1 pm. Our lodge was amazing. We each had our own room and bathroom and there was a lot of living space to hang out in.

That afternoon we went grocery shopping and got settled. Peg cooked every meal which was great.

We skiied 3 days. I usually spent half the day with Ken and Peg and the other half with Joe. I like to go a bit faster than our friends but not as fast as Joe and Joey. We had fabulous weather - Friday morning was the coldest. Snow came down every night as well, so the skiing was just great. Couldn't ask for better weather or company!
